  1. Only if you want extra credit...
  2. Generally you'll make more $$$ if you sell kits individually vs. selling an entire collection. I'd say try listing a few on emodelcars and see what happens. It's free, no charges to list... so you have nothing to lose. It's true that you get way more exposure on ebay, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through listing items on ebay (and of course, there are fees involved). My suggestion to a person who's never sold anything online before is to try emodelcars first, especially if you're not necessarily in a hurry to sell or looking for absolute top dollar. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/auction/
  3. I like that stuff because it has that "3D" look of chain-link fence.
  4. Thanks for all the tips, guys.
  5. That does look pretty good, especially the shape of the mesh. Do you remember where you bought it or what it's called?
  6. It is, but the problem is that it's "flat." It doesn't have that 3-D depth that chain-link fence does, which is why I first thought of that metal mesh that frying pan splatter shields are made of.
  7. You should also post this in the "Tips, Tricks and Tutorials" section.
  8. I have two daughters, too. I have to keep up, otherwise I can't understand them!!!
  9. Anyone know if there is an aftermarket source for 1/24-25 scale chain-link fence? I'm thinking about using that "expanded metal" mesh like on one of those anti-spatter frying pan lids, but if there's an actual aftermarket product available I'd prefer that.
  10. I think this topic keeps on popping up every so often because we basically have two types of members here: those old enough to have grown up without cell phones, the internet and texting, and those young enough to never have known a world without cell phones, the internet and texting. The older bunch resents the texting style of posting and all the LMFAOs and OMGs and such because they see that as people being "too lazy" to use proper English in their posts, the way they were taught when they grew up. And the younger bunch doesn't see what the big deal is, because texting and that style of communicating are what they grew up with and seems "normal" to them. So the two sides will basically never agree. The best we can hope for is that members try to remember that not everyone here is 20 years old, and not everyone here understands text lingo. It's a matter of using a little common sense and a little common courtesy.
  11. It also has a Hurst on the floor. It wasn't factory stock...
  12. And how many coats you're putting down.
  13. Yeah, I agree with you. Sometimes it's almost better not to know about all the craziness. Better for one's blood pressure!
  14. Correct English, spelling and punctuation is not a matter of opinion. It's either right or it's not. But if you're saying that some people just don't care to post using correct English, spelling and punctuation, I agree with that. Which was my point... the worst offenders are generally the ones who really don't see any problem with posting in gibberish. They don't care about it, which makes trying to get them to change their ways pointless.
  15. No wonder you call yourself "old hermit!" You're cut off from the world! I can't imagine relying only on NBC and PBS for news... you must have a very "specialized" view of the world...
  16. Yes, you're right. Sometimes living in a huge population center like the Chicago area, you tend to forget that "wide open spaces" actually still do exist, especially in the western states.
  17. Roger Christian wrote the lyrics to "Little Deuce Coupe" (actually it wasn't meant to be a song, it was just a poem), but his buddy Brian Wilson saw it, wrote the music and turned it into a song.... so whether or not the Beach Boys knew anything about cars was irrelevant in this case. They took someone else's words and turned it into a song.
  18. The Beach Boys wrote the song, the art director created the album cover. There's not necessarily any connection between the car in the song and the car on the cover.
  19. The problem is, the worst offenders are the same ones who don't see a problem!
  20. Pretty clever... but don't the plastic "wedges" also distort and push in the bodywork as much as they push out the fenders?
  21. Thank you! Now that's how you play the game!
  22. Yes sir. Absolutely right.
  23. Yeah, tell me about it! You should see some of the taxes and fees on my phone bill...
