  1. Ok, that takes care of the "what." Now explain the "why?"
  2. Those little guys look spectacular!
  3. Andy Kaufman died at 37 from lung cancer, yet he never smoked a cigarette in his life. Go figure...
  4. If styrene is carcinogenic, the various paints and glues we use to build our kits with are ten times worse! According to the government we all should have been dead years ago, I guess...
  5. This storage building in Seattle used to be a Model T assembly plant! Usually you think of an auto assembly plant as a spread-out, low building, to accomodate the long assembly lines, but this one has a strange layout for an auto assembly plant.
  6. They used to make some really nice cars here at the Packard plant in Detroit, MI. Not so much anymore...
  7. Final vote: 50 REAL, 10 MODEL. It's REAL. I guess this one was too easy...
  8. They are getting closer to what the new Charger should have looked like in the first place.
  9. The "purple pond" is what some people call soaking your painted parts in Purple Power. Purple Power is an industrial de-greaser and detergent that can be used to strip certain types of paint (enamels, mostly).
  10. Enjoy this one, because it's the last one before you officially become "over the hill"...
  11. Which brings me back to the point I made in the first place: There's no need to "customize" this car. It looks fantastic just as it came from the factory.
  12. The hot rods are not from hell... they (and the kids) are going to hell...
  13. The Bodie Starliner may be an impressive piece of engineering, but it's no custom. The body and trim look pretty much factory stock apart from the wheels.
  14. I don't have a problem with posting a WIP, and then adding a new post of the finished product "Under Glass." In fact, what I like to see is, when the WIP is finished, the poster adds a comment like "see the finished model in the Under Glass section" or something similar. What I don't want to see is the same WIP posted in several different areas at the same time. It's redundant and unnecessary.
  15. Who is Jules... and why is his name on the car like 5,000 times?
  16. You're doing it right. You hilight and delete the stuff that you don't want to appear in your quote.
  17. No, no wars intended. Like I said, I'm no expert, but I thought the "paint schemes/decals" on these cars was all one giant piece of vinyl decal film, which would have sort of a semi-gloss finish... sort of like the "rolling billlboard" cars you sometimes see on the street.
  18. Ok, I'm not a NASCAR expert, not by any means... but wouldn't a "killer gloss" be sort of unrealistic?
  19. If you only knew how many times I've gone in and deleted the "quoted" photos...
  20. Darin, my comments were not directed at you. I just found it funny that so many people started asking, "well, what about if I do this?," or "What if I do that?"... it got to the point where I just had to say it... read the freakin' rules! B)
  21. It doesn't matter that rules vary from one contest to another... everyone entered in any one particular contest IS on the same playing field... the rules of that particular contest. Good luck ever getting one set of rules in place that every single contest will abide by. You have a better chance of being abducted by aliens...
  22. Given all the "what ifs" you guys are posting here, doesn't the line I quoted here (and I said the exact same thing many posts earlier... ) pretty much answer the question about as simply and directly as possible??? If you have a question about what does or does not qualify as "box stock" in a particular contest you want to enter... talk to someone in charge who can tell you, or just read the freakin' contest rules! Question answered and problem solved. Pretty simple.
