  1. Yeah, because there's nothing flammable or explosive under the hood, right???
  2. That is one good looking model!
  3. Aw, c'mon... demean away. We haven't had a good flame war here lately...
  4. You guys need to get out more. The death of Mercury was made public (and posted here) a looooong time ago...
  5. She looks darn good to me!
  6. My life hasn't been the same since the Reeves Octo-Auto and the Mohs Ostentatienne bit the dust... "Mem......ries... Light the corners of my mind..... Misty watercolor mem....ries.... of the way we were.........
  7. No, I didn't forget DeSoto... I was just making a point how insignificant "Pontiac" is when you look at the big picture. Like I said, there are dozens and dozens of nameplates gone now... the whole list would go on for a loooooooong time! Besides DeSoto and the ones I listed, here are a few more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_United_States_automobile_manufacturers
  8. Car nameplates come and go all the time... it just seems worse when it happens in our lifetime. Does anyone here lose any sleep over the fact that these are all gone now: Studebaker Edsel LaSalle Oakland Cord Hupp Kissel Marmon Stutz Peerless Packard Willys Hudson Delorean Rambler Nash Pierce-Arrow Duesenberg Auburn and dozens, maybe hundreds more. So losing Pontiac isn't a very big deal in the overall scheme of things... just another drop in the bucket.
  9. We're all about you guys! The model car magazine for builders... by builders. Lots of them, the more the merrier. Sure, we have the big names, but we also feature "regular guys"... you know, us! In fact, many of the features we run in the magazine are a result of seeing something posted right here on our forum. We really are a family, and the magazine is proof!
  10. Here it is now. Remember, no hints or answers here. PM me. I need year, make and model (yes, all three) for credit. The answer and the list of who's smart coming FRIDAY! The answer: 1956 Saab Sonett.
  11. Dukefan is right... Pontiac was killed off a long time ago. Today is just the "official" day of death... actual death sentence was imposed quite a while ago.
  12. Looks good to me! Very crisp foil work, and the colors are very "50s"... nice work!
  13. Does the real car have a gap there? Might be, if that's where the plastic nose piece meets the metal fenders. If so you don't have a problem.
  14. So was there a cooling fan running off the back of the engine?
  15. Several brands had pushbutton transmissions, Chrysler among them. Edsels had the pushbuttons in the steering wheel hub! So where is the first one?
  16. Like I said... some strange engineering went into that car!
  17. I also wonder about the strange exhaust system layout. Wonder why they ran it down one side, then crossed back over and ran the tailpipe out the opposite side? Would have made more sense to just run the muffler front to back, and run the whole exhaust system straight on one side or the other. Some wacky engineering went into that car!
  18. Totally not my thing... but WOW! What a nice kit! PE, satin plated parts, etc. Very nice! Makes me wish this sort of subject matter was my thing! Congratulations to everyone involved in designing/engineering/producing this kit. All new kits should be this nice. Kinda makes me wonder why they're not...
  19. You should stick to models and leaf the comedy to the pros...
  20. OK, I'm no Cord expert, I admit. So what is that paper-clip shaped thingie on the chassis? Is that the radiator? Since Cords were FWD, I assume they mounted the engine "backwards" and there was no cooling fan in front, and the grille was only cosmetic and not used for cooling. Correct? Or have I been sniffing too many paint fumes?
  21. That's knot very funny. You could do better on this board.

If that was just bare paint I would have tried an automotive polishing compound or a model polishing kit to rub out the print... but since you already have clear on it (and the model is already finished), trying to polish it out might just wind up making a bigger problem. I'd say leave it alone in that case.
  23. Should have been more clear. Not since I started. However, that submission I got from a "Foghorn Leghorn" did seem suspicious...

You might be able to polish out that fingerprint... or at least minimize it.
