I think you'll do just fine!
-
Why? '20s and '30s cars are no more difficult to build than any other era. I think the problem may just be a perception on your part.
-
Steve, I suggest you start a new topic of your own buildup instead of adding on here. More people will see your work if you post it under it's own topic.

Unusual color for this car, but very nicely done. She's a beauty!

So it looks like the Lombardo Motor Corp. will soon be offering a full line of cars...

Do a google image search for rat rod and you'll find hundreds of photos. Also try this: http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/cars_-_various_themes/hot_rods/old_school__primer_rods/

A panda walks into a bar and orders a cheeseburger. As soon as he finishes the cheeseburger he pulls out a gun and shoots three bullets into the ceiling, then walks out. The bartender yells "Hey! What did you do that for?" The panda replies, "I'm a freakin' panda, moron! Look it up!," and walks out. Puzzled, the bartender pulls out a dictionary from below the bar and looks up the word "panda." Panda: a large bearlike mammal native to northeast Asia, especially China. Generally nocturnal, usually eats shoots and leaves."

A penguin walks into a bar and asks the bartender. "hey, have you seen my brother in here?" "Don't know," answers the bartender. "What does he look like?"

A snail got lost, so he walked up to a house and knocked on the door, intending to ask for directions. When the door opened, a man stepped out on the porch, grabbed the snail and threw him as far as he could, then went back inside and slammed the door. Two years later the man hears a knock on the door. He opens it and sees a snail standing there. The snail looks up at him and says "hey, what did you do that for???"

A couple of guys are going to the Super Bowl. They get to the stadium and find their seats just as the game is starting. Right next to them is an empty seat. They can't believe it, an empty seat at the Super Bowl! Can you believe that?," asks one guy to the other. "Who in their right mind would buy a ticket to the Super Bowl and then not show up?" The man sitting on the other side of the empty seat overhears the other two guys and turns to them. "That's my wife's seat. Since we've been married my wife and I have been to the Super Bowl every year, but my wife passed away. This is the first Super Bowl I've gone to without her." "That's so sad," replied the other guy. "But don't you have a friend or relative that could have come with you?" "Yeah," replied the man, "but they're all at the funeral!"

Hmmm, Chrysler 200
Harry P. replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey, I'm just quoting from the very same article you cited. Like I said... it all depends on who's spin you want to believe. -
Hmmm, Chrysler 200
Harry P. replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess it's how you spin it: After DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi went their separate ways in 2004, DaimlerChrysler made substantial changes to the platform. The modified GS platform is now called JS platform by DCX for mid-size cars and PM/MK for compact cars. Chrysler currently states that the Sebring and Avenger are not using the GS platform, though that was their starting point. -
On the Bondo tube glazing putty... The one-part and two-part types look very much alike, but you can easily tell the difference. The one-part stuff (what you DON'T want) is sold as "Glazing and Spot Putty." The two-part stuff (which is the one you want) is labeled "Professional Glazing and Spot Putty".

Where do you find kits at? Stores, etc?
Harry P. replied to DrewCfromSC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Online. Can't beat the selection, the prices, the convenience, and the hours. -
Correct, grasshopper. Gold star for you...

ooooohhhh..... I thought it was his own initials or something! ;)

And where's the "Flying Lady?"
-
No information there... he just says he's an engineer who likes to build 1/2 and 1/3 scale models. No further details on his methods.
-
Just a guy from England who likes to build really big, one-of-a-kind models from scratch. I'll have to check and see if there are any construction details.
-
Well, it can't be any closer. Final vote: 25 Real, 24 Model. Which means I fooled you... but barely! It's a model. A BIG model!

It could be several things, but if the paint is coming out "bumpy" it's drying too fast. The paint droplets need to hit the surface and then "flow" to form a smooth coat. Your paint isn't flowing correctly. You have one or more of these problems: Paint is too thick. Air pressure is set too low. You're holding the airbrush too far away from the surface, the paint is hitting the surface already partially dry. You're spraying in temperatures too low for the paint to flow correctly (more common when spraying outdoors in cold weather). Without specifics (type of paint, paint:thinner ratio, temperature, pressure setting, etc.) it's impossible to accurately identify your specific problem. It literally could be any one of the above, or a combination.

Revell preview photos from Toledo NNL #31
Harry P. replied to SteveG's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No, being a moderator here is the biggest no-win job on the planet... -
It's all wood for the most part, along with photoetched brass (all the balusters on the handrails, the door hinges, etc.), diecast metal (the windows and shutters and doors, the trim on the top of the wheelhouse, the stove in the wheelhouse, etc.), machined brass (the bell, the "rings" on the smokestacks where the rigging is attached, the caps on the rear stacks, etc.), brass fittings wherever the rigging is tied down, and clear acetate (the window panes on the wheelhouse)... and an assortment of different string and thread for the rigging. A real "multi-media" kit, but about 95% wood.
