  1. I could go with a nice pair of hooters...
  2. Looks very good overall... but raise up the exhaust system.
  3. BTW... the Tatra-VW connection: First, Tatras are rear-engine, air-cooled cars, like VWs of the time were. And this little incident (from wikipedia): Both the streamlined design and the technical specifications, especially the air-cooled flat-four engine mounted in the back, give the Tatra T97 a striking resemblance to the KdF-Wagen or Volkswagen (Beetle). It is believed that Ferdinand Porsche used Tatra's designs since he was under huge pressure to design the Volkswagen quickly and cheaply[2]. According to the book Car Wars, Adolf Hitler called the Tatra "the kind of car I want for my highways."[2] Ferdinand Porsche later admitted 'to have looked over Hans Ledwinka's (designer who worked for Tatra) shoulders' while designing the Volkswagen.[2] Tatra sued Porsche for damages, and Porsche was willing to settle. However, Hitler canceled this, saying 'he would settle the matter.' [3] When Czechoslovakia was invaded by the Nazis, the production of the T97 was immediately halted by Hitler, and the lawsuit was dropped. Porsche's successors later acknowledged the influence of Ledwinka's Tatra models on the Porsche-designed Kdf-Wagen of 1938 (later known as the VW Beetle). After the war, Tatra reopened the lawsuit against Volkswagen. In 1967, the matter was settled when Volkswagen paid Tatra 3,000,000 Deutsche Mark in compensation. Tatra T97:
  4. I guess this one was too hard for you... Only TWO people got it! It's a 1961 Tatra T-603 MB. Take a bow, MikeMc and Badluck 13!
  5. Don't think so. It's not even close.
  6. Franklin Mint quality? Danbury Mint quality! That turned out real nice!
  7. Yeah, not so impressive when you know how it's done...
  8. I love the manila envelope "leather" straps. Clever.
  9. Just to add my 2¢... As far as the resin-casting process in general... a lot of people make the comment that there will "always" be something wrong with a resin casting... as if there is something inherent in the resin-casting process that guarantees mistakes. There is not. Any resin cast part will only be as good (or bad) as the master from which it was cast. If you start with an inaccurate master, you'll get inaccurate castings. The actual process (resin casting, injection molding) has nothing to do with what level of accuracy the finished part has. It all depends on how accurate the master is. Sure, there are a few things that are inherent in the resin-casting process, like pinholes and flash... but basic accuracy of the cast part is in no way "held back" by the resin casting process. I agree 100% with Mark–if you're selling a product, "good intentions" alone don't cut it.That goes for anyone who expects the consumer to part with their hard-earned money in exchange for the product they are selling.
  10. Everyone is judgemental and self-righteous to some extent. It's human nature. If we weren't judgemental, we would have no opinion on anything.. and there isn't a person alive with no opinion on anything. That being said, sometimes it's best to keep our opinions to ourselves unless asked.
  11. I agree. It shouldn't take a detective to figure out what someone is talking about here. Oh BTW... my NRBQ just reached INXS status... so now I'm going to U2!
  12. The L700 was originally an IMC kit, very nicely done. Lindberg got their hands on ancient tooling and re-released it under their name, but the original release back in the 60s was an excellent kit.
  13. The "Color Me Gone" version of that kit is also very nice.
  14. "Another forum?" Repeat after me: There is no other forum! BTW... very cool. That's a classy, and classic, hot rod...
  15. I thought you only build MOPARS!
  16. You can't blame ebay for sellers who rip you off via inflated shipping costs. Ebay doesn't set the shipping costs, the seller does.
  17. Hmmmm...... 3 days and not one correct answer yet! Time for a hint. Hint: this car (or bus or van or whatever you want to call it) was made by a manufacturer that also made "regular" cars, too. And there is a connection between this manufacturer and VW.
  18. Those instantaneous MPG readouts are meaningless, for the reasons you described; but one that gives you average MPG can be helpful. You can spot potential problems early on if you see a drop in average MPG, even if the actual MPG you're getting might not be exactly what the readout shows. You can spot a trend or variance from the "usual" MPG.
  19. OPEC thanks you!
  20. You can change your oil every week... it's not going to make any noticeable change to your MPG.
  21. 4.6L V8, 5 speed manual. Mike, it's a continuously updated average, but not an instantaneous reading (it has that function too, but I don't use it because it's meaningless... like the example you made, or when you're at a light and getting 0 MPG).
  22. He's the only one who could tell you. He's the last person who handles the files for each issue before he sends them to the printer.
  23. That's a question only Fearless Leader can answer...
