  1. Looks very cool! The new sleeker roofline is a good change.
  2. Remember... I need year, make and model for a "correct" answer. PM your answer to me. The answer: 1957 Packard Clipper Who got it right: Badluck 13 ChillyB1 bad0210 danno Art Anderson MikeMc mr moto draggin sjordan2 mr chips Modelmartin Nitro Neil Frank Jon Cole trogdor vw1953 dimaxion Johnny Ryan S. I'll have to make it harder next time!
  3. Actually, it's not a wax at all... it's a clear acrylic.
  4. Today's aerosol paints generally have better spray patterns, especially "real" car paint like Duplicolor, than the "model paints" from the old days. It's true that with proper prep and technique, you can get just as good a finish using a spray can as you can using an airbrush. Using an airbrush correctly is an art unto itself... you have to thin the paint correctly, you have to set the pressure correctly, you have to apply the paint correctly, etc. Using an airbrush does give you the ultimate in control, but it's harder to use an airbrush than a spray can, especially for a beginner. It all boils down to what you're used to. The airbrush offers more control, the spray can offers more convenience. Either way, airbrush or spray can, can give you an excellent paint job. The trick is using either of them correctly.
  5. Beautiful! As usual, your paint is on a whole 'nother level! Now how about a few shots with the body down?
  6. If you mean a person's avatar, no.
  7. It was pretty close... final vote 25 REAL, 21 MODEL. But you got it, it's REAL!
  8. Anyone can call themselves a "master modeler." It's a term that can't be exactly defined; it means different things to different people. I once knew a guy on the H.S. debate team, he was really good. You could say he was a master deba... oh, never mind.
  9. Any paint can be airbrushed as long as it's thinned correctly. For brushing, I like acrylics. Water washup, and they dry much faster than Testors bottle paints (enamel). Doesn't matter what brand... Testors, Tamiya, whatever... I prefer acrylics.
  10. Wow... that's a wide open question! That's like asking what's your favorite movie or your favorite song. Get ready for a million different answers.
  11. "Converting" a convertible to a coupe is a big investment. A completely new tool would have to be created for the body, the interior, and the glass. Not exactly a quick or cheap thing to do.
  12. Ebay is a part of the "real world," it's not an imaginary place. It's as "real" as any swap meet. There is no one absolute dollar figure that can be attached to any kit. The selling price will vary depending on demand, condition, the weather in Omaha and a lot of other variables. But ebay will offer a quick and easy "window" to the current going rates for a given kit. Obviously the prices for any kit will vary, but by looking at the current range you can make a reasonable estimate as to what a given kit might bring if you decide to sell it. If you go by what the kit sells for at a swap meet, you're getting only one price, the price that particular vendor is asking. Ebay will give you a much broader view.
  13. The kit itself won't tell you anything. A kit is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so you need to check out a place where you can see what people are willing to pay for it, and ebay is the place to see that. Ebay will probably have the biggest number of any particular kit on sale, and you can take a look at the prices and come up with a reasonable idea of what that kit is currently "worth."
  14. ebay. That's where you'll see what kits are currently going for. Any "price guide" is obsolete almost instantly.
  15. Sorry to keep moving your posts around... gotta keep stuff in the proper places...
  16. No, it's because you are using a Microsoft browser! Dialup refers only to the speed of transmission, it has nothing to do with your web browser or what you see or don't see. It's like a garden hose. If you have a small hose (dialup), it'll take longer to fill up a bucket than if you had a big hose (DSL)... but the water is still water. The small hose (dialup) just takes longer to deliver it. You need to get a better browser, like Firefox.
  17. This time the problem was with the host server, not our browsers... because all of us were getting strange error messages, no matter what browser we are on. Whatever the problem was, it's fixed now. BTW... Firefox is the best browser out there, IMO. If you've never tried it, try it. It's free, very stable, and automatically updates itself constantly.
  18. Wow, that paint looks flawless!
  19. Cool concept, but I'd have to say those wheels don't make it. They're too light and airy for a big honkin' Impala SS. You need something with a little more "muscle"...
  20. That looks pretty cool! How about some photos with that side trim in place?
  21. Protar 1/9 bikes, yeah. They weren't too bad, as I remember. George, I got it done. Took a while, especially trimming each and every spoke on 10 wheel halves (front and back, 4 wheels plus the spare). Man, that was bo-ring!
  22. Yeah, I feel better now! Plastic. One Minicraft, one MPC.
  23. Already doing it...
