  1. Overexposure. It's not the world's greatest photo.
  2. I think the real reason that armor/military kits are more detailed and sell for much higher prices than car kits (in general, of course there are exceptions) is due to one basic fact: Historically, armor modeling is aimed at/marketed to adults, while model cars were aimed at/marketed toward/enjoyed by kids. And adults want better, more detailed kits (and can afford to pay for them), while kids basically supported the model car industry with allowance money. Kits marketed towards kids had to be cheap, and they were generally easy to build/less detailed than military kits. Nowadays, things have changed, and I think most model car builders are adults, not kids... but the model car industry took years to acknowledge that its consumer base had changed, demographically... and to change over from simple, cheap kits made for kids to more complex, better detailed kits (at a higher cost). But many (if not most) of today's adult model car builders are the same people who built them as kids, when a typical model kit was two bucks (or less!). Those old memories linger, and many adult car modelers still haven't adjusted to the relatively higher price of today's kits... they still see a model car as an item that should sell for a few bucks, tops. It's ingrained in them. It's not so much that car modelers are "cheap," it's that they remember the good old days when kits really were very cheap (even by a kid's standards)... and today many of these former kid modelers, who are now adult modelers, balk at the "high" price of today's car models. Armor modeling, on the other hand, was always an adult's pastime (more so can car modeling), so armor kits, while higher priced than car kits, are still not seen as too expensive by their target market.
  3. I have built (1/8 scale): 2 Monogram Jaguars 1 '67 Corvette 1 '84(?) Corvette 2 Big T's 1 Big Deuce 1 Exterminator 6 Pochers (Currently working on 2 more) I'd love to see something new... How about taking the Big T or Big Deuce and reworking it so that a stock version could be built? That would be pretty cool.
  4. Since we're all just speculating here... If there ever was a new 1/8 kit, I sure would love it to be a Superbird. I know it's impossible to name one particular muscle car as the "ultimate" one... but if I had to name one, that would be it. Can you imagine? Options to build authentic NASCAR variations included? Hoo boy, that would be a kit!
  5. Real or model? The answer: MODEL!
  6. I clicked on your link. Can't help buy notice the HUGE gaps between the sides of the chassis and the body. How in the world did you let that go by without fixing it?
  7. In addition to the answers already given, you can get routing diagrams in shop manuals... sometimes you can even find these diagrams posted online somewhere. Try a google image search as a starting point. For example, I googled "1957 Chevy engine wiring diagram" and got this: http://www.google.com/images?q=1957+chevy+engine+wiring+diagram&btnG=Search&hl=en&safe=off&gbv=2&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=2

Very nice, clean and sharp... especially that hood emblem. Good work!
  9. I've always thought the Mazda RX8 was pretty ugly... never liked the weird bulbous front fenders and the awkward shape of the C-pillars. So i fixed it! RX8 Before: RX8 After:
  10. That depends. I did mine several years ago. Along with a few others:
  11. Those kits are so bad, they're funny! I mean, they obviously knew that their models were totally wrong. Was it some sort of inside joke? I can't believe that it was actual incompetence... not to that level!!! Mark, you must have some of the "nicest" Palmer build-ups in the world! What a magazine feature that would make: "Palmer Models–When Accuracy Didn't Matter!!!"
  12. Strange that they would manufacture a kit that was obviously so wrong... I mean the whole front end is completely different than the "real" car. That front end would be more accurate for a '60s Camaro!
  13. Hey, you don't have to sell me... I'm a BIG Hobby Lobby fan... I find myself going there several times a month... mostly for detail items in the "other" aisles. It's amazing how many cool items they carry that can be used to detail model cars, especially in the jewelry aisles.
  14. The coupon is only good on non-sale items. So it's either buying an item on sale, or using the coupon for an item not on sale... the won't give you both.
  15. Yeah, but what was the deal behind that? Was it supposed to be a "custom" Mustang or what? How was that kit marketed?
  16. Not so much!!! Huh???!!! What the heck is the story behind that??? (and BTW, I've never seen that before!)
  17. But the Red Sox and Yankees are in the same league! They play each other like 18 times a season! Big deal! Interleague play is different because the teams that are playing usually don't play each other in the regular season. That's what makes an interleague game more interesting than just another Red Sox/Yankees game...
  18. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree... I don't see any significance or importance in the ASG. It's more of a "beauty contest" than a sporting event. When the fans get to pick the starting lineup, any semblance to a "real" game is out the window. How many times have we seen old, over-the-hill players that stunk it up in real games and were way past retirement get voted into the ASG by fans because of "nostalgia" or whatever? It's ludicrous. The ASG isn't a game... it's a dog and pony show. It's like the Pro Bowl or the NBA All-star game... it's a complete farce, nobody plays defense, it's all for show... it's not a real game, it's an exhibition. There's nothing wrong with that... you just have to remember that the ASG isn't a real baseball game. It's a show for the fans, by the fans. And to your point that the ASG used to allow players who wouldn't ordinarily have the chance to face each other a chance to go head-to-head... that's the beauty of interleague play! They do go head to head, but unlike the ASG, they are playing for real, not just for show. The ASG is fine as sort of a cartoon version of MLB, but interleague play is the real deal. IMO. Like I said... we'll have to agree to disagree...
  19. I actually like the second version. Not the color so much, but the "normal" headlights where they should be (not in the grille like the stock '70).
  20. How cool would it be if Chrysler came out with a new Hudson Hornet based on the Charger platform???!!!
  21. The All-Star game has no luster... it's a popularity contest, mostly for the guys who happen to be hot right before the voting. As far as an actual baseball game, it's completely meaningless... so I don't see how interleague play has any effect on an already meaningless game. Maybe you have to be from a city like New York, Chicago or L.A. to fully appreciate interleague play. Around here, the games between the Sox and the Cubs are just about the biggest games of the season, no matter how well or how poorly the Sox and Cubs may be doing. It's just something special when the Sox and the Cubs play each other, and it counts in the standings! Same for the Mets/Yankees, and the Dodgers/Angels. I love interleague play. Like I said, best thing to happen in baseball in many years. Now if only we could decide on the DH... either both leagues have one, or neither. I don't like a different set of rules for the AL and one for the NL... makes no sense to me. And could we pleeez get rid of those stupid exploding maple bats and go back to hickory or ash only???
