  1. I just heard that Dallas has a foot of snow on the ground. DALLAS!!! Do the Home Depots down there even sell snow shovels??? Paging Al Gore...
  2. Whenever a website works for some people and not for others, I suspect an old browser is the problem... because if the site itself wasn't working, it wouldn't work for anyone. After all, we are all accessing the same exact website. The difference is the software we're using to access it. There's only one website, only one set of code... and if it works for me, but not for you, I have to think the problem isn't with the website, but with your computer/browser. A website can seem "slow" sometimes, but that's a function of how you're receiving it. Depends on a lot of variables... your browser, the server, your internet connection, etc. There are many reasons why a site might seem slow at times, but usually the site itself is not the problem. The problem is somewhere in the chain between the site and your computer screen. If the server gets overloaded, for instance, speed goes down. Then there's the question of how you have your preferences set. Things "popping up" differently for people going to the same site are probably a result of different people having their preferences set differently. Photobucket lets you make the site work in different ways depending on what you yourself specify as your preferences. A perfect example of what I'm talking about is this site itself. Remember how a lot of people were having all sorts of problems with the site at first? Most of the problems were caused by people using a web browser from 1929. Once they installed a browser that was created in this century the problems disappeared. The site didn't change... the people with the problems changed the way that they were accessing the site. However, there was (is) a problem here with some of the alternate "skins." I don't know if that's been solved or not. I'm using the default skin (IP Board) and it works perfectly. I haven't gone back and tried any of the others. .
  3. I just heard on the radio that it's snowing right now... in ALABAMA!!!
  4. We had a snowstorm here back in 1967 that was probably even worse. The city literally shut down for days. The cars and buses in this photo are all abandoned. People simply left their cars and walked away... there was no way to drive. This is what the streets in Chicago looked like for about a week. My dad got stuck on the way home from work... he made it home three days later! He slept in his car the first night, in a police station the next. Now that was a snowstorm! And the best part was that school was closed. Woo Hoo!!!
  5. This builder does it the "Wingrove Way"... all hand made from scratch. "No kits were harmed in the construction of this model."
  6. Yep! It's true. Colors right there on the dang TV screen! You also might want to look into another recent technological advance called "indoor plumbing"... Makes it much easier to use the bathroom during commercials than running out to the backyard john...

I agree, both on the "well-done" part and the "hood wouldn't rust through" part. You'd almost never have a horizontal panel like a hood or roof rust through, because moisture can't collect there... it just runs right off. Like J says, rockers, around wheelwell openings (where the inner fenders are attached to the outer sheetmetal, around the lower edges of the windshield... places like that where water can get in but can't get out so easily.
  8. Check your settings and preferences in Photobucket. There are lots of options they give you... maybe you should try different settings. One of the options is to have the photo's URL links and image code appear right below the photo. That way all you have to do is copy the image code from Photobucket and paste it into your post here. I've been using Photobucket for YEARS and have never had a problem... I have hundreds of photos in my albums, and have never had any issues, so I have to assume that any problems people are having with Photobucket are problems on their end.
  9. The photo is from the builder's website... no other info given.
  10. Bill, you need to forward your photos to Al Gore. I'm sure he'd be interested to see how all the "global warming" is affecting regular folks like yourself...
  11. Nice comeback! Final vote: 4 REAL, 49 MODEL. Wow... that was almost unanimous, and you got it... it's a model! Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  12. With the talent you have, you really should keep at it.
  13. There's nothing wrong with Photobucket, it works fine. Obviously, if it works fine for most people and some are having a problem, logic will tell you that the problem is not Photobucket, the problem is on your end... most likely you're using an old, outdated web browser that can't display the site correctly or can't handle the new features and functions of the site. Big sites like Photobucket, ebay, Facebook, Twitter, etc. go through a lot of testing before they go live online. They're not going to put up a site that doesn't work right. 99% of the time when you're having a problem with a website, you can bet the problem isn't the site... it's your old, outdated browser that can't handle the site. Website technology is constantly changing. If you try to look at a website that has today's features through a web browser that's several years old, the browser can't possibly display the site correctly, because today's websites incorporate features that didn't even exist a few years ago... so an old browser can't possibly work correctly. It's like trying to watch TV on an old black and white set and wondering why you're not seeing any color! Solution: download and install either the latest updated version of the browser you are using, or install a whole new browser.
  14. Those are spectacular! But 70s and 80s? That's a looooong time ago! Have anything from this century?
  15. Wow, that thing is so well detailed I never figured it was a slot car until I saw the bottom! I agree, that's way too nice a model to risk damaging on a track.
  16. Yeah, your plan for the look of the paint job didn't work out, but still, the paint looks great. If you wouldn't have told us, we'd never have known...
  17. I think the basic problem here (and with NASCAR) is the fact that they want to run the cars at ever faster and faster speeds, so they're always trying to come up with a car that's faster than the current generation of cars. IMHO, the actual speed the cars run at isn't what makes a race entertaining... it's the competition between the cars (and drivers) as they jockey for position, etc. The actual running of the race, the moves the drivers make, the strategy, etc. That's what makes a race entertaining, and all of that happens whether the cars are running at 135 or 175 or 190. Other than the fact that it takes less time to run a lap at 190 than it does at 175, there's no difference as far as the spectators are concerned. All the cars run at more or less the same speed, whether it's 175 or 195 or whatever... so the ultimate speed is irrelevant. The "entertainment value" of a given race doesn't go up if the average speeds go up. I don't really see the point in trying to engineer cars that can go faster and faster. To me, an "old timers" Indy race using cars from 75 years ago, while it would be slower, would be just as fun, if not more so, than watching the current cars run.
  18. I guess you could always do a "NASCAR junkyard" diorama...
  19. I guess we've already seen each other plenty of times and didn't know it! Next time I'm in there I'll look for you.
  20. Do you know the Hobbytown USA on North Ave. across from the Charlestown Mall? I shop there all the time.
  21. If they go with a car like that can they really still call it "open wheel" racing???
  22. Ok, I've heard of a Minstrel in the Gallery... but why is there a weasel in the gallery???
  23. Are you somewhere around Naperville?
  24. I woke up at 4AM because I heard "thunder"... I thought it was odd to hear thunder in February, but I just went back to sleep. I heard on the radio later that we had an earthquake, and when I heard where it was centered, I was very surprised... it was right down the street from me! Maybe 10 miles away!!! Yikes!!!
