You can get bottles of clear red and clear blue from Tamiya and Model Master... maybe other brands, too. Check out the LHS, the should have them. Cars these days are painted with a basecoat/clearcoat system. The base coat is simply the color coat, and then it's topped with clear to get the glossy finish. Back in the old days they didn't use the 2-step process, they just went with a paint that was glossy to begin with. So when the auto parts store guy talks about a "basecoat," what he means is the actual colored paint that gets sprayed on first, the "base"...before the clear goes on.

Brown: Burgundy: Check the license plate, it's the same color as the car: brown.

That car is brown. Burgundy is a dark purplish red.

Is he in Santiago? I read that they got hit pretty hard in that area.

Chile. Mario Lucchini is in Chile, hope he is ok. I think he's in Santiago, supposedly the city got hit pretty hard.

Ooops. Thought they were diecasts. Well, either way, they're out there.

Don't know about a plastic kit, but Brookfield Collector's Guild made a few diecast versions.
