  1. 1/8 scale Superbird.
  2. Yeah, baby! Leaning Tower of Power! My very first car had that engine ('67 Belvedere)... that thing was bulletproof! Great engine...
  3. The Ohio Players??? Aren't they the ones that had the... ah... "risque" album covers? Or am I thinking about someone else?
  4. You know it!
  5. Bill, you're correct on the Beatles "butcher cover" story... there are, as you say, 3 different versions in existence. I think the original butcher cover album was only on sale for a day or so in the US before it was pulled from the shelves and the "steamer trunk" cover pasted on top of it. So a real, original first release butcher cover in good shape is worth a nice amount, second and third state versions much less, and varies with condition. Now how much can I get for my Alice Cooper panties? One size fits all. Any offers???
  6. Hey Jairus... you don't happen to have an original Beatles "butcher cover" album, do you?
  7. I think the early versions of the album had the "panties," later issues didn't... but they all had the desk where the "top" flipped open like a real desk. My albums are buried somewhere in boxes in the basement... I'm not sure I want to go down there on an archeological dig today! From wikipedia: The original album cover (designed by Craig Braun[1]) had the sleeve opening in the manner of an old school desk. The vinyl record inside was wrapped in a pair of girl's panties. This original issue was recalled because the panties were not flame-retardant.
  8. I much prefer a CD to a vinyl LP, just for the convenience of it, if nothing else... but I agree those old album covers and misc. stuff you would sometimes get along with the album were very cool. A lost art, for sure. For example, 3-D glasses with Grand Funk's Shinin' On album so you could see the cover in 3-D, "panties" used as a record sleeve on Alice Cooper's School's Out album (true! I have it!), the spinning disc with the cutouts on Led Zeppelin III, posters/stickers/misc. other extra stuff. If any of you have the Chicago at Carnegie Hall box set of 4 LPs you'll know what I mean. There was a HUGE poster in there, along with all kinds of very political (you could say controversial) material too. Could you imagine a record company these days ok-ing a package like that??? Way too much PC going on these days...
  9. Ooops... yes, it is 1/8 scale, not 1/18. And yes, it goes for $1200!!!
  10. 1/18 diecast. Says so right in the title of the post...
  11. Those photos are great! Best way to see exactly what the product looks like.
  12. Well, looks you guys are back on your game... final vote 10 REAL, 52 MODEL. You got it, it's a model! 1/18 diecast Australian Falcon. Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  13. "Freaking Who Knows What" would be a good name for a band...
  14. No thanks, Brandon... I'm not a fan of "morning zoo" type radio. Believe me, we have plenty of it here in Chicago (well, used to have a lot more than we do now... it's a format that's not as popular anymore). I've heard it before. Which is exactly why I'm not a fan!
  15. No, no, no. Do that and your head would explode!!!
  16. I still call them "albums" too! In fact I still call them "records!" Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs? Now there's an "odd couple!" Ok, my faves (not for listening to when building models, but for listening to and paying attention)... First and foremost-The Beatles. Head and shoulders above anyone else. Truly in a category all by themselves. Their musical talent and creativity is just staggering. To think that the same band put out both "Blackbird" and "Helter Skelter" is amazing. Nobody that's come along so far in my lifetime even comes close to what they accomplished. As far as the "mere mortals," Bruce Springsteen is number one. Again, the scope of his music is amazing, from the starkness of the "Nebraska" album to the personal and emotional songs like "The River" and "Brilliant Disguise" and "Something in the Night" to the all-out rockers like "Born to Run" and "No Surrender." As for the rest of my all-time faves... can't possibly rank them in any order; they're all great. So in no particular order: The Eagles The Byrds Led Zeppelin Tom Petty/Heartbreakers Fleetwood Mac Rolling Stones Pink Floyd Pearl Jam Jimi Hendrix Boston (guilty pleasure!) and maybe Sheryl Crow makes the list, too. And many more just a hair below the top ten, like Creedence, The Doors, Elvis Costello, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Motown (Supremes, Temps, Four Tops) etc. And then of course, the hundreds, if not thousands of others that I like to one extent or another...
  17. You have some mighty fine choices on that list!
  18. Bondo 2-part "Professional" glazing putty. Cheap, available at any auto parts store, works great. What's not to like?
  19. …you'd still be 98% regular old you...
  20. Cranky strikes again! You da man!!!
  21. Ok, fair warning... the minute you guys start throwing feces I'm locking this thread...
  22. If I had the $$$ to afford a Lamborghini I sure wouldn't put it up on my wall!!!
  23. Yep, that's basically it. I still think fake convertible tops are funny, especially on a 4-door sedan with a huge B-pillar...
