Harry & all Photoshoppers
Harry P. replied to MikeMc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
ok, this is "down and dirty"... I didn't bother fixing the background, because all you want to see is how the chop would look. A small chop: A bigger chop: -
Harry & all Photoshoppers
Harry P. replied to MikeMc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The problem is, learning Photoshop is not particularly easy or fast. You can learn the basics in a few days, but there's so much more that Photoshop can do... it would take a long time to learn it all. I've been using Photoshop pretty much every day for the past 20 years and there's still plenty of functions that I never use, plenty that I don't know how to use, and probably plenty more that I don't even know about! If you're really serious about learning, I'd download the free 30 day trial of Photoshop from the Adobe site, and get a "Photoshop for Dummies" type book... they explain things a lot better than the actual Photoshop help or tutorials, which just seem to make things more complicated than they really are. -
Ok, how about this? Real or model? The answer: REAL! Note to Bobby D (no, not Bob Dylan, Bob Downie): I'm sure about this one!

It's not that this forum requires a specific browser... the problem is, when this site was updated, many older (and basically obsolete) browsers just can't display it properly. Website technology changes constantly. New sites run on new codes that didn't even exist a few years ago. So an old browser that was created years ago may not have the capability to properly display a new website that was created using new technology. You can't just assume that your old browser will work forever. As internet technology changes, you have to make sure and keep up by downloading the latest version of whatever browser you're using. Any current browser should display this site correctly. The nice thing about Firefox is, once you download it, they automatically send you updates as needed. You don't have to remember to keep updating your browser... they do it for you! Yet another reason to use Firefox.

If you're up for a little frustration along the way, they're a lot of fun. Almost like building a real car!

Shopping online for kits
Harry P. replied to FordWagonNut's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can't open the box and pull the parts out at the hobby shop... all you can do is look at the box. So there's no real way to "get a feel" for what you're buying when you buy in person. About all you can do is shake the box and see if you like the sound! . When you buy online, you see a photo of the box cover, pretty much that's all you get at the LHS too. -
George, here's a place for help with Firefox if you need it: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/ Also, you can click on "Help" at the top. It'll take a little while to figure everything out, but once you get the hang of it you'll love it!

Are you looking at the site with Firefox now? Or still with your old browser?

Being on AOL has nothing to do with anything. AOL is just supplying your internet connection, it has nothing to do with how a web browser operates (unless you're using AOL's own native browser). If you're using Firefox or IE or any other browser, AOL has no control over how your browser operates. You must have some settings wrong or some problem on your end, because this site works perfectly for most people. Obviously if it's working correctly for most people, the ones who are having problems are having problems on their end, because if it was the site or Firefox, then everyone would be having the same problem. Try a different browser and see if there's any change.

Firefox will display this site correctly, but it has no control over the site itself. When you set your preferences, that's all done within this site's software. Firefox, or any other browser, will then display what you set as your preferences, but Firefox doesn't control the preferences you set here... it can only display what you've chosen. Try redoing your sig again. You should be able to type in your sig line, then highlight it, and then add color, font, sizes, etc. by selecting your choices. Click on "Preview post" to see what your post will look like. If it's not right, try again.

Firefox is a particular browser, like Internet Explorer or Safari or Chrome. Once you download Firefox, you have to install it! Double click on the Firefox icon, that should start the installation process. What you want to do is install Firefox, then use that when you go online instead of the browser you're using now. You might have to give Joy a call...

Because you just switched to a new browser. They don't necessarily have Flash, etc. built in. You had it installed on your old browser, so now you'll have to install stuff like that on your new browser. Just download and install that stuff as they come up. In a day or two you'll have your new browser configured... and you'll have smooth sailing from then on. Remember though... you don't have to install a Flash player. But if you don't have one installed, any Flash content won't show up on your screen, and many sites these days use Flash... so best to go ahead and install the player; that way you'll see everything as it's supposed to look if you go to a site that uses Flash. -
