  1. As everyone has said, "This diorama looks absolutely fantastic." What other things do you plan to add? Hopefully you won't mind a few ideas? Maybe some work gloves and rags laying around? A can of motor oil or 2, maybe some spilled oil spots? Some pens or pencils and pads in the office? A television in the office/waiting room for customers? A radio and speakers somewhere in the workshop area for the workers to listen to? A restroom area for workers and customers? A vending machine for drinks and/or snacks, and/or maybe a water cooler? I know your space is limited and that you really don't want it to look too cluttered or crowded...... but you've got my imagination working overtime with this creation of yours..!!
  2. Wow... that interior kicks butt John..!! This is one helluva project.
  3. That's a great looking diorama Ed.
  4. For bodies and body parts I use mostly Duplicolor primers but I have used Tamiya primers on occasion. I usually paint smaller parts by brush, after removing them from the sprues, sanding off mold lines, ejector pin marks, sprue attachment points, etc. I use mostly acrylics, enamels or metalizers to paint them and usually don't prime those smaller parts. As far as scraping paint from painted surfaces when gluing, I usually will just glue the painted parts together using non-fogging CA glue applied in small drops with a toothpick and have never had any problems doing it that way. To paint the smaller parts I either stick them to folded over masking tape on a paper plate, or, drill a small hole with my pin vise on the back side and glue the point of a toothpick in the hole. That way I can hold the toothpick while painting the whole part. There are also times when I'll use small alligator clips to hold a small part by the mounting pin to allow me to paint the whole part. I'll stick the other ends of the toothpicks into a block of styrofoam on my workbench until the paint dries. For the alligator clips I stick the round, open, back end on a toothpick stuck into the styrofoam. Also, I'll sometimes hold the part in a pair of hemostats to paint them. For larger small parts like dashboards I'll glue them to either a wooden skewer or a popsicle stick with a small drop of CA glue to spray prime and paint them, then just snap off the stick when the paint is dry. Whatever works for each size and type of part..
  5. Looking good Tom. Hope you can fix the clearing issues on the roof that we spoke about.
  6. Thanks Joe, yeah it took almost a week to get it all done. Most of the time was waiting for the paints to dry.
  7. That's an excellent idea Ron. Let's see if the Football "powers that be" come up with that idea.
  8. Wow Blair, that is one crusty truck. Great job.
  9. Thanks again fellas. Jose', patience buddy... more is coming. I have to give the paint time to dry on the parts.
  10. Thank you Carl and Dan, I appreciate your encouraging comments.
  11. Harry, I hear what you are saying. however, I feel that to teach the Patriots a lesson, the win, and the team should be disqualified. The win should go to the Colts by default... However, the chances of that happening are nil... Unfortunately.
  12. Wow, great job on that '29 and the diorama base Blair. What more do you have to do? It looks great the way it is.
  13. The interior assembly is now finished... The glass is also installed and paint is drying on the engine compartment parts. Further progress reports as they happen. Thanks for following along.
  14. Great work Harry, and great determination to get the car looking so good from such a poor kit.
  15. OK...... 11 out of 12 balls were underinflated, but, only the Patriots footballs. I would think that the pressure gauges that the officials use are pretty accurate, not like tire pressure gauges. Rob, you said it... I was thinking it.
  16. Everyone likes to get the "attaboys" and pats on the back, and most people don't mind the constructive criticism or helpful hints. It's the downright rude, insensitive comments that ruffle the most feathers. Me personally, if I don't have anything good to say, I just won't say anything at all.
  17. I'm not really a rabid Football fan...... However...... In light of the recent findings that the New England Patriots were using game balls that were underinflated by about 2 pounds, instead of, or, maybe in addition to, whatever penalties they incur, IMHO I feel that they should be DISQUALIFIED from winning the Playoff game against the Colts. Besides that, who knows how many of their game balls were underinflated during the regular season? I find it hard to believe that it could have been "an honest mistake" that no one on the team knew about. Every game ball..? Come on now..!! Just sayin...... While this is NOT a political or religious topic, I respectfully ask that ANYONE who posts a response to this, please keep it civil, and NOT let it descend into chaos. I also respectfully ask that the Moderators of this Forum please allow the discussion to continue, as long as it remains civil. Thank you.
  18. I thank you all so very much for your extremely kind and encouraging comments. I really appreciate it. Today I hope to finish assembling the interior pieces, installing the glass, and finish painting and detailing the engine compartment parts. The finish line is getting very close for this car. Thanks for looking in.
  19. Beautiful model Ray. As everyone else has said, great paint.
  20. Thanks James and Oscar. James, Yeah, that '51 Fleetline was a real bear. Better late than never for any party. Oscar, no, I've actually been putting that off, but I'm not overly worried. Worst case scenario I'll have to narrow down the wheels & tires a bit on the inside edge using my razor saw.
  21. Thank you Tommy and Dennis. Tommy, I'm not being rude here, but, I fully explained how I did the tiny flames in my post # 134 above.
  22. I thank you all for your very kind words. Last night I decided to add some extra little details to the side trim insert. First of all, I glued strips of brass mesh screen to the inside of the vent openings in the front fenders...... it's a little tough to see in the picture but you can make it out. Next, I've had a set or fret of photo-etched flames that I got from Detail Master some time ago (#DM-2405) that I've been itching to use on something. I used the 2 smallest pieces on the fret and stuck them on a piece of doubled over masking tape on a paper plate. First I sprayed them with primer and then gave them a couple of coats of Black Gold Ultra Orange Pearl and then a gloss clearcoat. They look red instead of Orange but still look good. I glued (using clear enamel paint) the smaller of the flame pieces to the front edge of the door trim behind the vents. The larger flame is glued to the rear quarter just in front of the taillights. Then I attached PE Street Machine scripts in front of the rear flames also using clear enamel paint. I was going to wait until the car was finished to show these details, but they came out looking so darn cool that I just had to share... ...... and the beat goes on. More progress to follow. Thanks for following along.
  23. Great looking Chrysler Peter, I love the work you did on the interior.
  24. Oh, so you really want me to bring it to your little model show?
