  1. Nice stuff Felix.
  2. You did a wonderful job creating your own version of this model Boban. Your scratchbuilding and use of different objects and materials along with your painting and detailing are great.
  3. Great looking work so far Harry.
  4. I'm a builder rather than a collector, but it's just that I haven't yet built all of the models that I've "collected" in my stash. I started out building Street Rods and Customs, but then fell in love with the looks and glitz of all the 1950's cars so that is the "niche" that I am in right now. I've built a few Light Commercial pickups and a few rusted up vehicles, but I prefer the clean and shiny look. As has been said above I build to pass the time, since I have lots of it now that I'm retired, plus, I can have ALL of the great cars I want in scale that I could never dream of affording to own in 1:1.
  5. That is a nice color combo on that car. Would make a cool model.
  6. What more can be said about your creativity than has already been said Ira..?? Your stuff is great.
  7. Yeah, it's colder than a witch's boob in a brass bra walking on the shady side of the street in a snowstorm...!!!
  8. Nice one Al. I've never seen one before either. Good job.
  9. Congratulations James. Getting a model pictured in a magazine is better than winning an award at a contest, even though that is a great honor too.
  10. Thank you very much Harry. I'd also like to shake your hand as you're one of those who do your best to try to keep the peace here...... besides the fact that you build some pretty darn nice models. And no, I'm not trying to "suck up" to you.
  11. You guys have Offices...!!! ???
  12. I'm happy to see that, overall, this thread is not turning into a male / female discussion as that was not the intention. I'm sure that if responses and subsequent posts continue in that direction, then at some point one or several of the Moderators will decide to, in fact, lock it up because of political or moral implications. I ask that we please do not have that happen. Let's keep the comments going without getting argumentative. I was merely expressing my positive enjoyment of the diversity of this hobby, the people who are involved in this hobby, and this Forum. Let's not turn it into something else. Thank you all very much.
  13. Guys like cars, trucks and mechanical things, and taking things apart and putting stuff together more than girls do.
  14. Richard, you painted and detailed, and laid out those tools wonderfully in your diorama. What more can you possibly add to this creation of yours?
  15. After enjoying this modeling hobby for so many years, and being a member of this Forum for several of those years, I am really struck by the amount of diversity that there is. I totally understand that different people have different likes and dislikes and different outlooks and preferences. Some people only like or build cars, some only like or build foreign cars, some like Big Rigs, some like Pickups, some like motorcycles, some like brass era cars, some like 1950's or 1960's cars, some like muscle cars, some like race cars of many different types, some like Large scale models, some like small scales, some like military and plane models. Some like building dioramas, some like figures. Some hobbyists collect diecasts, some collect plastic kits, some collect boxes. Some build for their shelves, some build for competing at contests, some build for a "customer". Some are casual box stock builders, some are "down to the last detail / over the top" builders. Some are fantastically creative scratchbuilders. Some of us are gray haired "old farts" who have enjoyed building for many years, some are newbies to the hobby. Some are somewhere in the middle. I guess my point in all this is that with all of our individual likes and dislikes, opinions, preferences and attitudes, abilities and disabilities, we are all pretty much one BIG "family" of sorts. I, for one, am happy to be a member of this "family" and hope we all can continue to enjoy each others company for a long time to come. I now turn over the "pulpit" to whomever else has something to offer.
  16. First of all Dave, welcome to our plastic playground here. You can search through the Tips & Tricks threads for loads of information on painting. For car models, a lot of us have our best results using automotive spray-can lacquers and primers which you would get at auto supply stores. The variety of colors and quick drying times make them good choices. Plus you can also use the clear top coats over the paints for a glossier finish. Tamiya spray paints are another excellent choice and are available at hobby shops or online. There are also polishing kits available to eliminate any "orange peel" finish in the paints once fully dry. I'm sure other people will chime in here with additional suggestions. Good luck with your future projects.
  17. Thanks a lot Bill. Fred, as soon as I get more progress done on something I'll be able to post more pictures. Dan, yeah, I know... The forecasts aren't looking great. I'm counting on hopefully being able to spray some paint in my basement by the end of this week as my daughter is leaving soon to work at a Renaissance Fair in Arizona. When she's home here, she lives in half of the basement. Once she is gone, and my wife leaves for work in the early afternoons, I'll be able to get away with painting down there. The smell of the paint will be dissipated by the time my wife gets back home around 8 PM.
  18. Just call it a Monster Donk Turd.
  19. The tools look great Richard. I'm glad that I could help. I can't wait to see them in your diorama.
  20. Thank you very much Jim and Richard. I'm still waiting for the weather to change for the better.
  21. Thanks Joe. I can't wait to see paint on the body either..!! The car will be Tangelo Pearl by House of Kolor with Tamiya Red Brown in the side trim insert. If the weather here would cooperate and not rain or snow for a day I could get that done without the women in the house complaining about the paint smell if I tried spraying in my basement. I still have some engine compartment parts to paint and detail in the meantime. Plus I can always start working on another car in the meantime until the weather clears up.
  22. That leather looks really good Mickael. Is that from gloves??
  23. Thanks Bill. Now I'm another step closer for this great show..... Room is booked, Started putting some spending money away months ago, Registration form is printed, Models are waiting to be packed, Wish List to buy is made up...... All that's left is to get there and see a BUNCH of friends and GREAT models again...... Can't wait..!!!
