Great looking Nomad...... Love the color.
-
I masked off the body and painted the side trim insert with Tamiya Red/Brown. I let that dry for the afternoon and just got done clearcoating the whole thing...... no runs...... no drips......no errors...!!! Yeah, I know... pictures or it never happened...... As soon as the clearcoat dries I'll get some pictures up here. I also did some paint and detail work on some of the interior parts. Those will also be shown soon. Still much to do but things are looking good so far. I've got a couple of cool things to go in the side trim inserts...... Stay tuned.

That's a great looking truck Blair. -
Eric, this is one great looking Custom project. I also am waiting to see your choice for the grille.

Thank you all very much everyone. Bill, yes, if I can get them to fit in the wheel wells, I'll be using some Pegasus wheels...... These pretty closely match the concept picture that inspired this project...... I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that I don't run into any hassles when it comes time to fit the completed assembly of the chassis / wheels / engine / interior up into the body. That's usually where fitment problems occur. Worst case scenario, I may have to narrow down the wheels and tires a bit. Still have lots of work to do before I get to that point.

Why do your kits end up stalled
Ramfins59 replied to atomicholiday's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only time that any of my models will get stalled and put away is if I run into a snag while trying to put some part of it together. This usually only happens at final assembly time when either the interior won't seat right into the body, or, when the chassis / engine assembly won't fit properly up into the body. Test fitting is difficult to do properly until all of the sub-assemblies are completed. I get totally frustrated and aggravated and instead of throwing it against a wall or stepping on it, I'll just put it back in its box and come back to it either weeks or months later. At that point I've calmed down about the problem and approach it with a fresh attitude and perspective, which always winds up being successful. -
Larry's '47 FARGO 2Ton Beverage Truck

Wow, that is a great looking truck. -
Thanks guys. Derrick, yes the paint went on really great. My only complaint is that with the really small cans you only get enough paint to only do one model thoroughly. I painted the body & hood, firewall, dashboard, steering wheel and upper interior door panels with 2 coats and at the end was really having to shake the can to coax out the last couple of squirts. Even Tamiya's small cans will have enough paint for at least 2 cars...... not so with Black Gold. I'll always spray at least 2 coats to ensure good coverage. Bruce, yeah man, I'm looking forward to getting the gloss clearcoat on this car.

You did a fantastic job of creating this model on your own. Your scratchbuilding and use of uncommon objects to make this is great.

Wow John, you really dug down into your "archives" for the Plymouth and the Pickup. Good luck at the Show.

I finally got the body painted with the Tangelo Pearl by House of Kolor (Black Gold). The paint dries flat and obviously needs a clearcoat which I will do after I mask off the side trim insert and spray that with the Tamiya Red/Brown color. The paint covered really well with no imperfections. I still have plenty of work yet to do on the engine compartment parts and the rest of the interior. Progress continues...

Beautiful car Jim, and I love that interior.

Great looking car Bruce.

That is gonna be one cool Custom. I wish there was a good kit of a '50 Buick available.

If a model that I've finished comes out good enough IMHO to enter in a show or contest, I'll use that model's box to transport it with padding to the show's location with other models, all in a larger box with a handle. The larger box can hold up to 6 kit boxes. That way I know which car is in which box. Once the car is "retired" from shows, the box goes to recycling with all of the other empty boxes.

Originality Counts?

I would say that #2, 4 & 5 work for me. -
That is looking really wild Dave. It must have taken you quite some time to lay out all of that masking.

Jarkko, that is a great looking car. Nice job.
