  1. Great looking model Ron. Did you glue the doors shut..??
  2. Thanks a lot Charlie, James, Chris and Bob. Everyone's encouragement really means a lot.
  3. Hey Gluhead, this car is looking awesome...!!! Your interior work is just fantastic... I LOVE it. Like everyone else, I can't wait to see this thing in paint. Keep up the great work.
  4. Thanks a bunch Ray, Grant and Tommy..... a new flying brick Tom...??? Wha da heck..??
  5. Great looking car Sam. I just love ALL those 50's cars. Re the too shiny interior, you can get brush on Dullcoat by Polly S, usually in the train paint section of a well stocked hobby shop. I think there might also be some other brush on dullcoats you can get too...... and worse case, just spray some of the clear flat into a little cup or on a waxed paper plate and just brush it on.
  6. Thanks very much everyone for all your kind words and encouragement. This was a fun and special build for me.
  7. Great job Al. Being retired gives us a LOT of time for pursuing our hobby doesn't it..??
  8. After putting this build aside for the better part of a month while I was working on my resin '58 Ford Fairlane build, I finally got back to this project. I solved the problem of things not seating right by grinding out a little bit of the firewall and cutting the grille/headlight assembly from the rest of the fender frame piece. I'm glad to have finally finished this small build tribute to my departed friend, Dave Dickash, who left us back in 1994 due to cancer. He always wanted to build a '36 Ford HiBoy with a photo-etched grille. This one's for you buddy...... I miss you...... a lot...!!! Thanks for looking in on this everyone.
  9. Clifford that is just gorgeous. And I think that a PE grille would really look cool in front of that gorgeous engine and radiator... (Just my opinion).
  10. I'm not aware of ANY '49 Merc grille being available from ANYONE. If there were I'm sure most of us would suck 'em all up like crazy. I know that I would certainly buy 3 or 4 at least. I'm really surprised that MCG hasn't come out with one.
  11. Yeah, I'd love to see a model of ANY bus come out. About 15 or so years ago, when I was still living on Long Island, NY, the LIARS Club (of which I am still a member) used to charter a bus every year to take us to the NNL East show. It was cool when the bus would pull up to the door in Parsippany, NJ and 30 to 40 of us would file out of the bus. It was such a "tradition" for a few years that the guys on line would all say "Hey, the LIARS are here." Unfortunately that tradition ended because the number of members who wanted to chip in towards the cost of the bus ($25 per person) dropped off and the club's treasury just couldn't afford it anymore. (If I remember correctly the cost for the bus was around $700 or $800 for the day.) The driver would park the bus in the lot and pick us all up again right at the front door at about 4:30 PM. Sometimes we'd have car movies on the to and from ride (when the bus's VCR worked), and there was always someone (ME) who brought along a cooler filled with "cold ones" on ice for whoever wanted one (or 2). There was also a "potty" in the back of the bus which came in very handy (cause you don't buy beer...... you only rent it...!!!) My point in all this is that I'd love to make a model of a "LIARS Bus to the NNL". Maybe some day hopefully.
  12. Thanks very much Bart and Mark. Bart I don't know why your pics are not coming through to me. Can't you just post them in a WIP thread..??
  13. That is pretty cool Jukka. A very unique subject, and great scratchbuilding.
  14. Thanks very much Bruce and Don. Bruce I saw the start of your '57 conversion to a '58 while I was working on this one. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours comes out. Good luck with it.
  15. Hi Mark. Welcome to the Forum. Nice looking truck.
  16. Great looking car Bob. The work you've done is excellent and I love that color.
  17. Thanks a lot Chris and Kris.
  18. Great looking models... LOVE the Buick...!!!
  19. Looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll be able to attend.
  20. Yep... beautiful model. I love the color combo.... but it needs a bunch of BMF to really finish it off.
  21. From the weather reports, the New England area is supposed to really get dumped on with a LOT of snow starting tomorrow. Good luck to all of you who live in the affected areas. Just hunker down at your workbenches (in between all that shoveling...!!!) and just ride it out.
  22. Thanks very much Tom, I appreciate it buddy. And thank you too Johnny
  23. Thank you very much Don and Art. I appreciate your encouragement.
  24. I work at a roll-top desk in my basement model area...... here's a pic from months ago... All of my tools and jar paints, glues, etc., are within arms reach either in the little cubby holes or the drawers, or on top. This has been working well for me for the past year. I previously was building at my dining room table but got tired of having to put everything away when we were eating or having company over. Having a dedicated, undisturbed work space is definitely the only way to go.
  25. Yeah there sure seem to be a LOT of us here that are older in body than our minds want to admit... I also remember being able to outrun my kids... I remember having all of my own teeth... I remember having a LOT of hair... and it was ALL brown... I remember when I LIKED cold, snowy weather... I remember a few more things, but I'll try my best to keep this a CLEAN thread and not be the one to start it rolling downhill...... LOL...
