  2. I offer International Shipping on all my EBay items. It just makes sense to open your sales to the broadest market possible. While I print my own Domestic Postage at home and ship most packages Priority I do allow International Bidders to choose First Class Mail for cheaper rates. It's very easy for Buyers to check what their Postage will be (approximately) by using the Postal Rate feature. I don't yet print my own Customs Forms so I note in my Description that International Buyers will have their items shipped on one of the 3 upcoming Saturday's, since I have to actually walk into the Post Office and wait in line. If I estimate a shipping price and it turns out the items ships cheaper than I thought, I simply refund the difference. When communicating with a seller and trying to get answers about the product, if you get a bad feeling about straight answers just look for your item elsewhere. It will always turn up. Remember, you can always retract your bid. Keep all your Emails and PM's and show them to the EBay Customer Service about your attempts to do the deal. I see people complain about the tiniest of things on EBay saying they will never use it again. Okay, I see EBay as a great tool for Buyers or Sellers. CadillacPat
  3. As my distinguished colleague from the great state of California has suggested, All Scales. A broad scale category would open the door to even 1/64 Customized DieCast. Hey Mark, How've you been? CadillacPat
  4. Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, Why won't you discuss your reasons?????????????????? If you have valid reasons and feel so strongly about proper EBay procedure (according to you), then surely you will back up your reasons with facts. CadillacPat
  5. I have to tell you, I don't consider technology extremely advanced. I said I would never buy a computer until I could just walk into the room and say,"Hey Computer". They don't have that yet. Cars have been manufactured for over 100 years and the panel behind the wheels still gets road dirt splashed onto it. Just walk outside and you can see millions of miles of ugly electrical wires strung between poles, nothing changed there in over 100 years. It will still be quite awhile before we are able to buy the "It Box". One little box that will transmit and receive any data from any source though any Provider in any language in real time without being forced to view a 45 second commercial. How dare they tell me," You're video will resume in 45 seconds", when my video hasn't even started yet. CadillacPat
  6. More like a 1/4" x 2" around the perimeter of the opening. Just like a picture frame. Here's a little tip I use to keep mine "wetted down" I vacuum my booth routinely and then I spray it down with a cheap $1 Enamel aerosol from Walmart. The slight layer of paint tacks down all present lint, dust and overspray. CadillacPat
  7. Nice job, I hope that your fan being over in the rear corner and with a horizontal intake ( not really a downdraft) can draw spray from the far sides of the inner booth. I would have placed the intake in the center back. You will get better efficiency of removing overspray by placing narow baffles around the face of your opening. 3" - 4" strips of wood framed around the face will prevent overspray from rolling out of the booth. Incoming air will be focused into the center of the box and any overspray attempting to roll out will be forced back in by the incoming air. The upper baffle will also serve as a shade from lights installed in the roof of the booth. Holding your pieces over on the left side of the booth as you spray will be the best way to allow overspray to go directly into the fan. CadillacPat
  8. As a teenager in HighSchool in those glorious "Early to mid Sixties" my American classmates and I were right smack n the middle of the most amazing era of Automobilia this planet will ever see. Huge comfortable cars built for long nights at the Drive-In or long hauls across country driven by monster 8 cylinders that sucked in everything but the Ozone Layer, all for 15 cents to 20 cents a gallon, 103 Octane White Gas. Beginning in the early 50's and going strong through 1970 even the simplest of body designs had class, style and pizazz. Every car uniquely different from the next we weren't crammed into today's renamed sub compacts like the socalled "New" Mustangs, Cudas or Camaros. Our cars were unencumbered with an extra $20,000 or $25,000 of unnecessary built in cost, forcefully regulated by the Govt. and lobbied for by the Manufacturers.. Even the largest 427's or 454's had room under the hood to work on it and without the need for a degree from MIT or Computer devices. When you turned a corner people new instantly what you were driving, either by seeing the car or hearing the engine. Two cars meeting each other on a two lane road could distinguish exact body styles from a half mile away, day or night, just by the positions of the headlights and blinkers. Even after the stark reality of the Oil Embargo the most beautiful styling of all time was traded in for what, giant boxes called SUV's that get less mileage per gallon than those glorious Kings Of The Road, GTO's, SS Chevelles, SS Camaros, Boss Mustangs, HemiCudas, and RoadRunners. I'll much prefer lots of large glass windows instead of a GPS, A quick responsive engine in a full size car as opposed to 12 airbags, 15 inch rims and high profile tires over goofy little rubber band setups on ridiculous 22 inch garbage can lids, Real dash layouts instead of the modular ###### Steering wheel horns with the WaWa bar Face it there will never be stunning cars coming out of GM for less than $100,000. Stunning Autos could be built for $30,000 but todays regulations would never permit it. And, why would GM want to give us cars we would love, that everyone can afford, when they can stick us with off the shelf cheap designs that they can make a huge profit from. I drive an '83 Datsun ZX Coupe, Why? Because it's sleek, stylish and surprisingly roomy. And, because there is notihing in the USA today that compares to it. There's a car you don't see on the road much anymore. CadilacPat

  10. The last two "Cars" produced in America were the 1973 Riviera and the 1975 ElDorado. Since then everything on 4 wheels produced in America has simply been a "mode of transportation" CadillacPat
  11. This Tip goes along with my "Removing Paint From Aerosol Cans" over in the General Section under Model Cars Magazine Wants You. This paint storage method is fine for all Solvent based paints including Aerosols or Automotive brands. I purchase most of my House Of Kolor paints by the Gallon or Quart. Rather than constantly reopening the large containers I came upon this method to store my paints for easy daily use. I needed containers that were cheap and easy to pour from. These soft, squeezable small mouthed plastic bottles pictured here work perfect for me. They consist of the type plastic that is not reactive to solvents so any type paint or related solvent based products can be stored in them. I fill them with paint directly from the can for daily mixing and some of the bottles contain reduced paint of colors that I use frequently. HOK Urethane Clear, 311 Reducer, Catalysts (both Clear and Candy Activator), InterCoat Clear, Lacquer Thinner, Primer and a variety of Basecoats. The small mouth makes for easy pouring for mixing or even for transferring mixed paints into a 1/4oz. paintcup. The same small mouth also allows for less exposure to the air when opened. Pure strength paints or premixed, these lightweight smaller containers make for easy handling resulting in less mess and waste. If you have a project that you'll be painting all day these bottles are perfect for use as a mixing container. I Barbecue or Grill frequently, at least twice or three times a week and throwing away so many Barbecue and Ketchup bottles made me wonder if they couldn't be put to use. There had to be a better cheaper way to store paints than spending money on glass bottles from the Container Store. It turned out that these type Polyethylene or Polypropylene low-density plastics were non reactive to solvents. Even if you dump the sauce within, these proucts routinely go on sale at Food Stores for as low as 44 cents, usually 66 cents, making for a very cheap buy. Just wash the threads of the Cap and Bottle thoroughly. Fill half way with water, shake, shake, shake, repeat, repeat, then add a couple of drops of dishsoap, fill, shake, rinse, rinse, rinse and let dry. Run hot water over the labels, remove them and using a permanent marker indicate what you've stored in the container. Or make your own label. If premixing or if filling with Clear or Catalyst, mark the date filled. I do a whole lot of paint mixing and paint transfering, so while I don't paint full size cars these containers hold just the right amounts of paint for me. They're fine if you're doing Artwork or anything smaller than a car or large motorcycle parts. They are cheap enough that by the time you have emptied the container you can just toss it and use a fresh one. I'm sure a lot of you use your own methods for storing and mixing paint, this is just a simple tip that works well for me. --CadillacPat the UnCustomizer--
  12. EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought my brand new in the box $400 Badger Compressor for $99 on EBay. I sell my Customized DieCast on EBay. It has the largest exposure and the most traffic of anything on the Net. The prices people ask for their products or items is something I don't give a second thought to. EBay works fine for me. 14. More info is needed here. Did you prime and with what? DupliColor is a Lacquer and only requires an hour to dry. If you wait a long time after laying down your basecoat you need to come back and scuff it or apply an Intercoat Clear for the next layer to have adhesion. The Clear you applied after sanding probably bled through to the plastic and caused discoloration. Solvent paints can chemically react with hard plastics (especially styrene) to produce a grainy orange peel effect. If you can list your steps it will be easier to tell what happened. CadillacPat

  16. If you have used water based paints they can be easily removed with Castrol Purple Power Degreaser. It's available at AutoZone and leaves the plastic clean as a whistle. CadillacPat
  17. If anyone thinks EBay is losing Buyers or Sellers then they must consider the fact that they gain them also on a daily basis. It's not like they started out with a definite number of users and it is decreasing everyday. More people are turning to working out of their homes and using EBay in huge numbers. Someone in this thread mentioned they withhold entering their tracking number on EBay. Well, entering your tracking number on your shipped item is what PayPal uses to release your funds sooner. It also shows the Buyer you have taken care of your Business in a professional and quick manner. I print my own postage on my home printer, save money doing that, and get FREE Delivery Confirmation. You can avoid some hassles that you think you may encounter by researching the Bidder's Feedback. You can always disallow a Bidder. If you can find a bigger better system then use it but EBay is where the exposure and traffic is. CadillacPat
  18. "Removing Paint From Aerosol Cans for AirBrush Use" "Removing Paint From Aerosol Cans To Use In Your AirBrush" Several years ago I invented a way to remove aerosol paint from its container and Toy Car and Model Magazine saw it online and ran it their magazine. If you care to use it you're more than welcome to. Those of you who own an AirBrush can remove paint from any Model Master, Testors, Boyd, Duplicolor, etc., aerosol can and use the product in your AirBrush getting much better results than simply spraying it from the can. Here's a trick I came up with to transfer paint from the aerosol can to a container so I could spray it through my Airbrush. Toy Car and Model Magazine saw it online, contacted me and requested to publish it. You will need a 3" - 4" length of plastic drinking straw, some 1" wide tape, and of course a suitable container. I collect the empty film cans from local WalMart Photoshops. This soft pliable plastic will not react with automotive paints. 1st-----Butt the straw up to the hole in the button of the Aerosol can. In most cases with Duplicolor, the straw will actually slip over a short protrusion in the button. 2nd-----Wrap the tape around the straw and button so they are held together firmly and tightly. 3rd-----Just spray your paint into whatever container you've chosen. The straw will perform like a muffler, choking down the escaping gases and allowing the paint to gently run out the end of the straw. If you're only using small amounts of paint, you can just spray the paint directly into your paint cup. CadillacPat
  19. I use House Of Kolor Automotive Clear. This is a 2 part Clear with Catalyst. Over the years I have used all the RattleCan Clears, removing them from the container and AirBrushing them. Automotive Clear is not only durable and non-yellowing but it brings any paintjob, basecoat or colorcoat, to life. AirBrushing your ClearCoat, whether a 2 part or that removed from a RattleCan, allows you complete control and also the choice of mixing in Color Intensifiers and Powdered Pearls. CadillacPat
  20. I don't look at their holding funds as a problem Where else can you get the massive exposure for your products that EBay offers. I prefer just to constantly keep enough items up for sale that money is always coming in. I don't care for the amount fee that PayPal charges and I certainly don't agree with a final value fee on shipping costs from Ebay, but I use both services and wind up on the plus side. CadillacPat
