  1. Awesome! Right on with the colors! Foil work is beautiful. You have more patience than I do.
  2. Awesome George. I'm planning the same for a Lindberg '64 Dodge kit. The wheelbase and 4 door roofline is the same. I noticed that with the '64 Fairlane as well, only problem is the side trim. You should seriously consider doing a "how to" article with pics in the work in progress section on the forum.
  3. Jersey..........you are an artist!
  4. Cool.......did you build the 4 door out of a 2 door kit or is it a resin?
  5. Heck, I'd be happy with one out of the boat reissue. Don't need the boat or the box.
  6. Beautiful mild kustom, very tasteful, great colors. Love it! I've got some to restore as well. I hate trying to get all those glued on custom pieces off. What's the trick? Freezer and alot of sanding?
  7. Amen! That is beautiful!!!!!
  8. Thanks for all the nice comments!
  9. Just got this square roof Galaxie done tonight. Not as nice as Derrick's black one, but it's salvaged from the junk pile at least. Body came from my buddy Ken, (thanks Ken!), used the kit to finish it. Saved the Ming Green metallic, sprayed the roof white, cut out the console, filled the tunnel, parts bin bench seat, acetate rear window, modified kit glass for windshield, used and old set of Firestone Supremes, came out OK, not perfect, but it was fun.
  10. Darrick, awesome job! It's ironic that you posted this, because currently I am using the promo formal roofline body (like yours) with the current '63 Galaxie kit. I salvaged the Ming Green, did the roof in white, removed the console, filled in the tunnel, used a parts bin bench, and so far still under construction. I'll post it here when done. Nice job on yours..........my buddy recently sold one (1 to 1) that was identical!
  11. Ed, elaborate..............haven't heard about this........Charlie, yes it would be awesome to do a Supreme with the formal roofline. Could be started with the '77 Monte kit I guess.
  12. Join a local model club, subscribe to Model Cars mag, stay on here, and keep learning. It's all about having fun and building what you want to. I've been building for years and I'm still not a master modeler. Probably never will be, but best of all, I'm having fun. That's what it's all about. Congrats and welcome!
  13. Yes...........cut that sucker up!! Promos, kits..........same deal. Use what you get your hands on.
  14. It's a stock color called Cypress green metallic, I happen to love the color as well. The hubcaps are the stock Olds promo caps, just blackwashed with the Olds emblem picked out in red.
  15. Beautiful! Don't know how you capture those "spot on" looks, but you sure do it well. Love the '59 Dodge and the '62 Ford wagon. I detailed my wagon promo the same way, except I shot the roof in metallic brown.
  16. A couple of guys wanted to see this one, so here it is. Stock promo, stock color, just detailed a bit to make it look better. I did replace the generic tires with this old set of Firestones that looks much better.
  17. Wild!....................Wish I had a beautiful shop like that in my back yard! Love those old garages........not so crazy about the new stuff. This is right on!!
  18. Green, green, green,...................too many red ones out there. (I love oddball colors.)
  19. Blowin my mind!!!!!!!!!! Those are gorgeous!!
  20. Yes, the Rolls is a Silver Cloud II. The green GM is a '74 Cutlass promo. I'll pop a few pics of it on here. Thanks guys, for all the great comments.
  21. Grabbed this one off the Bay, moulded in black, pretty much a glue bomb, but not to the point it could'nt be fixed. Sanded off mould lines, smoothed out some dimples, and sprayed in a classic champagne/brown two tone, with painted silver trim around windows and chrome foil on the side trim. I flipped the Dunlops inside out and they had a nice line moulded on to do wide whites. Did these with flat latex house paint, three or four coats and it comes out convincing. Wish I could have found a little cleaner glass for it though.
  22. There was a kit of a Buick Skyhawk version. One of those late seventies kits with the wacked out body modded custom on the box, but I believe it could be built stock. I saw one on the Bay a while back and it sold for more than I wanted to pay, but I'd like to find one and do a Skyhawk as well. A resin coupe body would be great too.
  23. No, that's the original moulded color, Medium Green Poly. Buffed it, detailed and waxed. These promos are fairly inexpensive on the Bay..............can pick one up for about 20-25 bucks or so. Nice oddball subject for your display case. They did kits of these, but honestly, in my opinion, for the money.........go for the promo. After all, it was the '70's.............you know what I mean.
  24. Here's another promo I cleaned up and detailed. More of my "home made" white walls. Looks like they hit a curb a few times!! Bought this promo at a swap meet last weekend for 10 bucks.
  25. NY #1 !!!!! Glad she is taking an interest in building.
