Well, now that I finished the yellow GT 500 I can get more work done on the Merc. Small update here. I did some of the sub assemblies and squirted some paint on the body. The body still needs to be cleared and foiled. I am not sure about the color combo I went with but hopefully will look better when the trim is foiled. I would like comments both good and bad on the colors. I am partly colorblind and sometimes don't see colors as they truely are. It looks ok to me but it's not too late to change the lower portion color.

Thank you for the kind words. I really want to build another one and do some things different. I want to lower the suspension a little and probably just dull coat the wheels to tone down the chrome instead of stripping them. Also I want to paint the stripes so I have a choice of color. Not sure what those colors might be. I really do like this kit even though it is pretty simple.It goes together about as good as any model I ever built.

I have used the paper from Micro Mark and it works very well. You can get white or clear and also paper for ink jet or for lazer type.

I noticed you said you got glue on the body when installing one of the side windows. Can I ask you what glue you were using ? if you use white glue or something like Krystal Klear you can wipe it off with a damp cloth with no damage to the paint on the body. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to seeing your build. After finishing my yellow one I am also thinking about building another one.

I am going to love this thread. Cobra's my favorite. Plus Cranky is building another ? Wonderful. I have a bunch of unbuilt Cobra's but will not have time to build for a while. I will be watching this one. Looking forward to seeing all the builds.

Scratch X will remove light scratches and swirl marks. As others have said wet sanding till smooth and then a polish, Scratch X and then a nice coat of wax. This is all going to take you awhile but it can be done. When you cleared did you put on a "wet " coat ? Good luck. Can you post some photos ? Also in my opinion you don't need 7 coats of clear. This can sometimes be a case of more may not be better. Just my opinion others may disagree.
