cobraman

Just got back on this one yesterday. This build is fighting me tooth and nail. Not the fault of the kit, it's all me. Just has been one of those tough ones. Painted it 3 times. When I cleared it I had a small run but decided to live with it. Had to repaint the top too. : ) Anyway, I figure to finish this one up early this week and I can start another that perhaps I will have better luck with.

Hobby Lobby trip today. Ya gotta love those 40 % off coupons. Anyway, I got the Cobra to replace the one in my stash that I used to build that black one I just finished. The Olds I bought because I saw some pretty cool ones here and thought I would give one a try.

Not sure where they came from but they came from somewhere. Don't recall ever redoing it after I built it. Perhaps a bit after 65 but I know not much.

Sweet looking Nova !

This was built using the Monogram 1/24 kit. Paint is Model Master black lacquer with Duplicolor primer and clear. Body was polished with Novus. I drilled out the dash to add Slixx gauges from behind and then Krystal Klear to create lenses. Slixx decals were also used for the seat belts. Flocking was added to the interior. I used a MAD prewired distributor on the engine and an air cleaner from the parts box. Parts box also supplied the wheels and tires. Spokes were painted with steel paint. I stripped some of the chrome pieces. I made a splitter for the grill area. Please excuse the crummy pictures. I have to work on that. Also please excuse any random cat hair that might show up. : )

Here is the first Cobra I ever built. I built it somewhere around 1965 if I remember right. I molded in a scratch built front and rear spoiler as well as some rear fender flares. I used either Testors putty or AMT putty and even after all those years it has not cracked or split in anyway. This is the only kit I saved from back in the day.
