  1. Looks cool ! Harry should love those mirrors ! : )
  2. No , it is a blue paint. Photo does not show true color plus I am NOT building a replica but rather a version of my own choice.
  3. Got a start on this wip. Painted the engine. Attached the front and rear panels and puttied them up to smooth them out. I'm thinking of Black Cherry with no stripes or the silver stripes.
  4. Cool. Reminds me of the Beatnik Bandit except no fenders and bubble top. Might be a good kit to start with, no ?
  5. Thanks gents. Needed a break from cars for a bit. Back to cars for awhile but I must admit these dioramas are a lot of fun.
  6. You know you don't have to wait 3 years for paint to dry. : ) All kidding aside your dragster looks terrific. We would not expect any less from you.
  7. That's why they made the pontoons in compartments. Some can be damaged but the tank will still float. I don't think I would care to have been in one however.
  8. Except for the weather and the politics ( can I say that ? ) it's a pretty nice place.
  9. That sure is nice. I wish I could have seen it in person.
  10. Thanks Gordon !
  11. And they said mine was strange ! : ) I like it !
  12. Thanks Harry, glad you like it. I was even happy with it ! It is a 2 part mix that can be tinted with oil based model paints. It is self leveling and dries in about 24 hours. No heating, no odor. Won't crack, won't yellow, won't shrink and won't bubble. I'm guessing it is some type of resin but can't find that info.
  13. I remember Trost. It was on 63 rd if I remember right. I went there quite often as I worked at 63 rd and Pulaski and would go there at lunch. Don't remember what town Dispensa's was in but I remember it was a long drive from Oak Lawn where I lived at the time. I want to say Oakbrook but I'm not sure.
  14. After building 3 military dioramas ( can see in diorama section if interested ) I am ready to do another car. This will be pretty much box stock with the possible exception being a wheel/tire swap. Have not decided on a color yet.
  15. Anybody remember Dispensa's castle of toys ? That was a cool place. I remember buying the Aurora 1/16 Pinto funny car kit there.
  16. Very nice work Tom !
  17. The model is a Dragon Type 2 Ka-Mi with floating pontoons. This is 1/72 scale. This is a small Japanese tank with a pontoon mounted on the front and the rear. These pontoons were made in compartments so if one was damaged it would still float. The pontoons could be released from the interior once the tank was on dry land. The diorama and base. The base is a small shadow box type that I bought at Hobby Lobby and then stained. I used Celuclay for the land area. Magic water was used to build up the water area. I tinted it before I poured it. After that I applied Vallejo water effects in the Mediterranean Blue color. That was followed by some detail painting with Vallejo Foam and Snow. Thanks for looking and as always comments pro or con are welcome.
  18. This one is done and will be in the diorama section soon if interested.
  19. Thank you Jimmy.
