That was on a facebook group, the video was quickly removed as he seemed to have hit quite a nerve in that group. Back in Dec/Jan he seemed to have teased more people by showing the pics of his stuff and saying it was for sale but never sold to anyone on that facebook group. Sounds like he has changed his mind and things are working out for some of you so that is good to hear. All the kits look like they are factory sealed so you will get a mint factory fresh kit. Mike

That mesh for the grill looks great. Can you please tell me the part number of that and I will try ordering some too. Thanks, Mike -

That looks awesome, I will be getting at least one for sure. Hey Dave, what decals will be coming with this kit. Will it be an actual company that uses the Prostar? -

Nice lot of built ups you have and a great stash of kits to keep you busy for a long while. -

That looks great. I love the two hole budds you put on there. -
Building box stock kits can be fun. It gets expensive when you start modifying and adding resin parts. Great job on the stake truck.

Great weathering and rusting, I love it! -
If you are building for the pleasure of building and take your time it could take a few months to a year depending on the number of hours you put into it every week. If its a commission build I would give yourself at least 6 weeks, I have had people ask for their model earlier than agreed to.

AMT Junkyard Dog
doogie7046 replied to ra7c7er's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
If you are a builder, save your money and buy the reissue kit. If you are a collector you may consider buying this kit as I was told that when AMT brought it out, Mack got really upset and it became difficult to get licensing for AMT to do more Mack kits. Back in 1991 AMT released the R Model Mack (red box art truck) and it was pulled from all the Toys R Us stores in Canada and the rumour I heard was that Mack was still upset with the Junkyard dog kit. I did buy one when it was released and was disappointed with the kit. I ended buying a hood and cab and built the kit up like a new truck instead of Junkyard dog. I would only buy another one now if it was dirt cheap so I could use the rest of the kit for a resin conversion. -

Man, what an amazing deal. You don't hear deals like that every day. Were they all unbuilt? -

Looks great. I am starting one of these too. I just got the decals and need to get going on modifying the cab to the newer latch style door handles and filling in the little peep window. I watched the movie several times with my son but never thought of building it with a 60 inch sleeper. Although not accurate to the movie I think I like the look of the larger sleeper better. The movie truck looks a little too short, the bigger sleeper balances it out better. -

Looks real sharp with the blue and silver and the Bill Signs rack looks great back there -
I haven't built a Lonestar yet but I did buy a couple of them. I embrace all new truck kits. At least this is not like the Italeri Volvo VN kits. I rushed out to get one only to find out its a curbside and cost as much as a full detail kit. None the less I built it for a hobbyshop display and it helped them sell a few of these kits even when it was explained to them that it was a curbside. If you want a real challenge try buying a built up model from Ebay and try to disassemble it, correct all the mistakes the original builder made and scratchbuild any missing or broken parts that you can't find in your parts box and put it all back together without instructions. If some of you are old enough to remember some of the original AMT truck kit instructions, they were pretty vague on the placement of parts and some parts needed a lot of sanding and putty to get them to fit right. For those who still want to gripe about this kit go right ahead, any fuss good or bad will definitely keep the interest up on the Lonestar and yet to be released Prostar kit. Thanks Dave and keep them coming!!!
