Got the suspension almost done. As you can see I just put blocks in the back and I started making a spindle for the front. I still need to tweak the front suspension cause its sitting a little too far forwards. Dominik I would tell you what sandpaper I use but I dont have the package for it so I dont know.
  2. Looks really good especially for being the first time rusting/weathering anything.

I got this side about done and I like it alot more because of the orange. When I first sprayed it I thought I sprayed too much which is why there is less in all the other areas but I think it turned out better. This is actually my first attempt at this so this build is a learning experiment for me. The wood and top will be done tonight.

I started sanding on this side, still needs some work though. Theres a couple places I got down to the plastic but Im going to go back and fix those spots. Im gonna add a little more black in some spots and I might put a little bit of white in some places.

I started painting tonight. Like I said this will be a rat rod style build so I will be sanding the body to bring the other colors in the spots that would have the most wear on them. The top will be flat black so I will tape it off and spray it but the wood will be done by brush. It will all be aged pretty good once its finished. I will be painting the wheels to look like coys matte finish.
  9. Does anyone know when I use this why my rust turns out bright orange?

It has decals for the woodgrain but the plastic has a grain texture so you could paint it if you wanted.

I went to Hobby Lobby today and this was on clearance for $14 so I had to buy it. I plan on having this done for Derby City Shootout on the 28th of this month. This is going to be a rat rod style build. The body will be rough looking but the internals will be nice. I am using the wheels from a chevelle wagon. I am considering cutting up the other 2 wheels to combine with the rear wheels so they are deeper but I havent decided yet. In the last pic its just a rough mock up as you can see but its what it should look like. I dont have pics yet but I have already modified the rear suspension to sit lower. I didnt think the tires were going to work but they barely squeezed in there. I hope to have the suspension done tonight so I will get some more pics.
  12. Had a change of plans, I was putting this on hold but I decided to go ahead and build it. I changed motors to an LS engine but I kept the same tranny. I started scratch building the firewall tonight. Hope to make it to Derby City Shootout with this car but we will see.
  13. I decided I would make my own rear wheels. I made them to look like woodward custom wheels that alot of people run on their cars now. This was the 4th attempt, finally found a method that works.
  14. I you don't have access to plastic sheet, for sale sign works good. It works nice for door panels and any other parts you might scratch build. It is too thin for some parts but it will usually be fine.
  15. Some nice cars I was going to make the trip up there but it was too hot this weekend.
  16. Harvest Havoc 3 is the contest. Last year I think there was around 100 entries. The deadline is September 21 & 28, its two days be cause of the multiple classes. The contest is on crazyjsplace.proboards.com however there isnt much activity on the site. If your looking for a site all about derby models check out scale-demo.proboards.com
  17. I'm a member on both but I like Tory's site. The new wecrash was a joke. I've got a nice collection of reference pics for this car.
  18. Heres my shifter and I started my tranny brace.
  19. Here is some frame pics, I guess I forgot to post them.
  20. I started on the motor. I am using the motor from the 66 chevelle wagon but I cut the tranny off to switch it to one of amt's ford trucks because its really detailed. I started on my cradle and protector, which is supposed to look like the m1 extreme setup.
  21. The contest was an online contest and I managed to win. It was a low turnout of only 10 cars but a win is a win. I won a lindberg crown vic.
  22. Boswell I'm from Danville. The tires are from a 1:64 ertl tractor. Yea derby season is almost year round here in Kentucky.
  23. I just built this Chevelle wagon for a contest. I forgot about the contest so it was a quick 4 day build.
  24. I asked because I'm building a derby car model and on the 70s gm wagons that's the floor pan. I just didn't know what it was like on the 60s.
