Im building a 66 Chevelle wagon. Is this the gas tank or is it part of the floor? I'm assuming gas tank but I want to make sure.
-
I dont have any pictures from when I started it. The body is the johan 1960 plymouth wagon. When I recieved it the body was in really rough shape. The frame and tub is from the amt 1958 plymouth fury.

I just did this build for a guy who was wanting it as a gift for his dad. Its a replica of a car that he derbied last year, unfortunately I dont have any pics of the real car.

I took the bumper from the 76 caprice and added to it to look more like a the bumper from a wagon. I also got the tailgate on.
-
I also missed Model Mayhem this year. Are you planning on leaving this car fresh or are you gonna bend it up?

Carson is a great guy to deal with. The weathering on your frame looks really great. You should check out scale-demo.proboards.com. Its a site mainly for demolition derby models. There is a contest for demolition derby models June 18th if you could get your car done or have others you would like to enter. Its free entry and we are giving away some nice prizes.

Some may have thought this project was abandoned. After a couple months of not working on it and almost selling it I have found new inspiration for this build. It looks alot different now as you can see.

Heres some more progress. I cut the rear posts down, started on the tailgate and tailights. I am using a frame from the 1967 impala which is different from a 1976 caprice. I cut the rear frame off in front of the humps and cut the frame in front of the a arms. I took the horns from the 70 monte and put them on. I took the hump from the 67 frame after cutting it off and used it as a template for my new rails. The frame from in front of the humps back on these cars is c-channel which is the main readon for making the new rails. As you can see theres still alot of work left on the passenger side.

I have started on this car again after a little break. I did change my mind on the build calling it a pontiac. Since I didnt convert the front clip Im just calling it a 1976 caprice estate wagon. I will reshape the rear to make it look more like one. The engine Im using is the ls1 from the 2002 camaro. It will have a combination of parts from the 99 chevy silverado because some are better than others. Last night I put some more detail in the door post.

I am dropping out of this. I was building a 99 silverado and I opened the kit today to find out that the front windshield has a big scratch in it. I'm putting this kit to the side for now. I'm going to order a new front windshield from revell. Maybe next time I can join in. -

Thats a nice kit. Do you sell them? I did some more work tonight. I filled in the roof, painted the body and almost finished up the flatbed. I added some detail to the interior as well, It was just too plain. I cut them big goofy antennas off the mirrors. -
I started with the 77 gmc wrecker and started building the flatbed. This kit is very simple so I plan to build it that way with some small details. If you look at the interior I did make a new shifter, I thought the original seemed way too small.

Yea the Chevy wagon was scratch built from the 2dr caprice. I'm working on another one now that is alot better. That car was a very simple build. It took me about a week, just a couple hours each night.

Heres a few of my older builds. 1960 Ford Starliner 1976 Caprice Wagon This was a replica of a real car. It was from the mid 90s. I dont have the picture of the original car anymore or I would post it.

I started this build about a month ago. I just work on it here and there when I have the time. Its for a contest in september so I have plenty of time. I started with the amt 76 caprice. The body is really rough and still needs alot of work. I'm calling it a pontiac because the I will be modifing the rear to look like one. However the front clip will be a 76 caprice clip. Im doing this because Im going with a stock body color so I can weather it to look old and rusty. The front clip will be a different color since its supposed to be from a different car. Hopefully I can score more points by doing this. If you look in the picture the the body is cut out behind the wheel opening in the back. Since the gas tank is located there on the real cars when the body bends it gets into the tires really bad. For the frame I will be using a 67 impala frame and tub that will be heavily modified.
