  1. 5-26-06 Casey....Per your request Here is a picture or two of the Peterbilt (357) I am trying to replicate w/Aluminum Dump Body. Originally I was going to drop in a Detroit series 60 diesel, I am going to drop in a CAT 3406E..modified to a earlier C-15. It is coming along, slowly...stacks were just completed. Starting priming on a bunch of misc pieces. Any thoughts or suggestions from anyone is always welcomed. Happy modeling to all. Kurt McLucas
  2. Ray, It's good to hear that you are OK..... Hope the recent repairs treat you right..this time. Safe driving. Kurt McLucas
  3. Very nice detailing indeed. Please keep us all posted with pictures. Kurt McLucas
  4. Tim, I've said this to you a hundred times, your models just truly amaze me. When you add an utility body of some sort..it just elevates it to another level. Your passion and attention to details, drives me in my quest to at least finish a project. Thank you for the inspiration..... Nice build Kurt McLucas
  5. Guy's... Besides truck modeling...my other hobby is collecting 1/50 scale diecast (Yes I said diecast) construction models. Ex: Old West Germany pieces: Strenco/Gescha/NZG and Conrad). I started years ago, had over 400 pieces.. a small fortune. Then came the "Money Pit" house...I kid you not..Well, the collection downsized real fast, except some real "rare" pieces..I add one here and there when funds are available..Story is...Just like the plastic...these 1/50 models have jumped through the roof..Like Tim mentioned it isn't the "greed", yes sometimes it is..It is what the person actual pays for it..that "blows" my mind. A 797 Cat Mining Truck I bought 6 years ago for 300.00, now sells for over 700.00+ I wouldn't pay it.......More power to those who do... Kur McLucas
  6. Thank you to: CITY COBRA for coming through. Here is (1) picture of the original exhaust finally modified for the dump bodies cab protector. I have to do the passenger side..then another check off of the fabrication list. The final product will have Alclad II Stainless steel paint applied. Thank you to all for the GREAT suggestions. Kurt McLucas
  7. Guy's... Thank you for all the suggestions. Many of you have suggested ways I have already considered..though the solder comment was unique..thanks chevymaniac. I would reallly like to find a duplicate to this one..since I will be using both for the "turn-out" portion that curves up around the canopy.. If I have to custom build one..I will, but I really don't. This project is really trying my patience as well. Thank you, Kurt McLucas For the REVELL Pete kits, other than the CAn-DO-Kit, that have the 475hp Cummins engine w/dual turbos..will the standard road tractor REVELL kit have this same engine configuration?? Just curious
  8. 5-13-07 Guy's... What a day, I had on Friday, second oldest son went with me. Took a full tour of the Trail King/Ti-Brook plant..saw lots of traliers and bodies in production and finished..visited the local Peterbilt dealer, saw a fully loaded 379 Legacy Class Edition with dump bed..got lots of reference photo's from both..and ended up at the local CAT dealer as well... I thought I was done with my dump bed...Wrong...back to some minor modifications...and then primer. Kurt McLucas
  9. Ray, God bless to you for having "lot(s)" of patience on this one. Good luck..stay focused..and I am sure it will turn out GREAT!! Kurt McLucas
  10. 5-13-07 Guys, I need your help to locate this part....as seen in the picture. Exhaust pipe from the turbo of a Pete 359 (Revell Can-Do Wrecker Kit) Cummins engine to the exhaust pipe(s) that branch off to the two stacks..This might be a common pipe within the Revell kits (which is in two pieces)..this one shows assembled. I only need another one...for my on-going custom project. I need it for the complexed "bends" Tim, maybe you have some suggestions ? Willing to pay or trade for the part. Please email me at: kgmclucas@comcast.net, or post a reply. Thank you... Kurt McLucas
  11. Thank you to all for the positive feedback. I am actually taking the day off from work tomorrow, and making a trip to Brookville, PA to visit Trail King/Ti-Brook's manfacturing facilty for a tour. Going to pickup decals, take lots of reference pictures, etc. Wait to you see the (re-done) Pete..this thing is going to set on, 357 here we come!! Kurt McLucas
  12. Ray, Great final outcome. Looks heavy duty and "mean" Kurt McLucas
  13. Guys.... Had a chance to grab the digital camera...So here are some "teaser" photo's. A couple of small details to finish up..and hopefully shortly ready for primer. The final product will have a couple of coats of the Alclad, polished aluminum paint. Decals and safety striping will be added. Yes, that is real "oak" wood planks for the top boards... Progress is slow on the Pete, since the last posting, she has gone under a major turn into a different direction..I'll post pictures soon. Comments are always appreciated. Happy modeling to all. Kurt McLucas
  14. Anthony, WOW !! Did not know a Chevy, could look so good. Love the color !! Great build... Kurt McLucas
  15. Ray, Looking good so far. I "hate" the dreaded exhaust pipe(s) as well. Like Dave mentioned..they never go right...without some major engineering... Keep us posted with pictures...always like to see your progress. Kurt McLucas
  16. Anthoy, I'm really impressed !! The orange paint job is outstanding. along with all of the other details. This is one of my more favorite builds you have done. Keep up the good work... Kurt McLucas
  17. Craig, I like what I see so far. Keep up the good work.... Now for the trailer decking.... Instead of using balsa wood, after trial and error..and in the middle of one of my other projects..a 20-ton tag trailer(still on the table)....I have come up with the peerfect combination of "real" solid OAK planking for floors. If you are interested, please email me. I have sold a couple of bundles recently (various lengths/widths) 3/16" (thick), I can email you pictures... Food for thought..Balsa would work great as well... Please keep us posted on your progress. Good Luck Kurt McLucas
  18. Jeff, Welcome to the forum. Great place for advice..lots of "talent" here. Regarding the Pete CAN-DO wrecker...Always check on Ebay..alot of folks will scrap the wrecker body to do something different with the chassis..as I did...Please see my Peterbilt 379 tri-axle dump truck post. Lots of work to go..it will will pretty neat when it is completed. There are so many possibilities for that chassis...Tim (mackinac359) will, I am sure suggest a few as well (along with others),,, Good Luck in your build, and keep us all posted. Kurt McLucas
  19. Ray, Trailer is coming along "real" fine. Plumbing the airlines looks like fun..why is everything "so" hard at times? I really like the hyraulic tank on the tractor..Please keep us all posted with the progress...Good Luck... Kurt McLucas
  20. Dave, Love it !! Maroon/Burgandy is my favorite color. What's on the table for the next project? Kurt McLucas
  21. 4-17-07 Guy's.... Just wanted to post a picture or two of the AKA (Petermonster) as some call it..The bed is progressing nicely..lots of detail/lots of work to finish..the tailgate should be on by this weekend..the hydraulics started... A couple of recent acquisitions, will take this piece into several new directions..motor/cab/hood etc...always thinking "too" much ahead... Thank you to everyone's comments...I'll post a picture or two in the next couple of weeks after some more major work has been completed.. Thoughts and prayers to all at Virginia Tech. Kurt McLucas
  22. Dave, One word......WOW!! The combining of the 2 cabs..spectacular..a master modeler at work Congrats.....on another great build. Kurt McLucas
  23. Tim, This truck is one of my more favorite ones you have built..all of them are nice..this one is really "cool" On most of the Italeri Peterbilt's..what is the stock engine that comes with them out of the box, CAT/Detroit? Just curious. I have heard the Italeri's are easier/and more fun to build VS. the Revell's..is that true? Nice paint job/and detailing. Kurt McLucas
  24. 4-8-07 Just a "little" update. Made some progress on the "Ti-Brook" Dump body..like any custom project...it has been modified along the way...Still has a long way to go, until a finished product.....what a monster this one is turning out to be. Happy Easter to all. Kurt McLucas
  25. Ray, Nice "old" rebuild. Can't wait to see more progress. Please keep us all updated. Kurt McLucas
