  1. Anthony, For the chrome/stainless steel/aluminum/steel/copper...what-so-ever(requiring a metal finish) please consider the Alclad II paint..just let it dry for a few days..I was scared to death to try it..after I did..I enjoyed painting with it the most. (need an airbrush of course) I would be very more interested if you can point me in the right direction for the tarp you made from scratch, as my next project will require one to be fabricated. Again, it never amazes me what you guys can do. Thank you, Kurt McLucas
  2. Anthony, An absolute piece of quality workmanship. So may I ask, what is next on your build "wish-list" ? The trailer with the roll-tarp is just plain "neat" Kurt McLucas
  3. Guys, After some recent "set backs" with the cab this weekend..I was able to mock up some of the final assembly. I am trying to get a fine "snug" fit for all the joints and lines..."what a job". The "truck" I hope to have finished within the next two weeks..work and wife permitting. Thank you to all for the compliments and comments. Happy building to all. Kurt McLucas
  4. Guys, This would be a second update to the previous subject.. I was out of town the past several days for business, But I was able to address some pieces this morning while they were drying while I was away. Still have a "small' way to go. Enjoy!! Kurt McLucas
  5. Casey, A very nice build indeed. It was fun reading and watching your progress. You should be proud of yourself. Kurt McLucas
  6. Tim, Excellent work as always. I don't know how you do it..Month after Month turning out these "beauties" Quick question.... How do you outline your window gaskets (front/side and rear) what technique(s) or products do you use? Just curious... I'll await to see you next creation. Kurt McLucas
  7. Anthony, Thank you for the kind words om my project. The Brockway and the Macks that you have completed are fabulous, as well.. as all the others. PLease keep the pictures coming. Question for you, on your SuperLiner..what paint are you using for the frame? Just curious... This hobby for all has taken a new turn for the better with builders such as yourself and Tim...Thank you Kurt McLucas
  8. Guys, I thought I would try my hand at posting some of my progress on my current project. Like some newer members, I too, haven't built any Class 8 trucks since I was young..over 25 years ago. I have been wanting to do this for some time. The truck is being fabricated after one I actually owned. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you all for imput and especially once again to Tim for posting pictures on: truckmodeler.com. This model has been in progress since December of 2005. The wife just "loves" it "Tons" of custom fabricated pieces. Lots of time and money..I think it will turn out A-OK. Noted: Parts from 2-AMT Mack Kits/Ford Delivery Truck/Autocar Dump Truck. Misc parts from STS/KTS, and Ebay (special finds). Alclad II paint (chrome/stainless steel/brushed aluminum) The red is Chrysler FireStorm Red. For decals: I definately suggest using the decal film paper (inkjet) from Bare Metal Foil. Any and all comments appreciated. Next project on the books: Peterbilt 379 triaxle dump truck with 19' Ti-Brook aluminum body. http://public.fotki.com/turbo590/ Happy modeling.......Kurt McLucas://http://public.fotki.com/turbo590/ ......Kurt McLucas
  9. Thanks Guys..for your input. I am leaning to using the BMF decal products. I agree on the ALPS printers, (they are consider one of the best for decal generation) trying to find a "new" one pretty much does not exist anymore. Using a laser printer would be the first option, then clear coating it prior to application. I'll post my creations once I have them completed. Kurt
  10. Josh, I really have no use for the body..selling it outright or through Ebay, would be the route I would take. Nice to see another modeler from the area..I am from the Northern Cambria area. If interested let me know..or if anyone else is..I am open. Thanks. Kurt
  11. Guys, I need your help? I am lining up my next project. Using the Revell Peterbilt "Can do" wrecker..I will be scraping the tow body and using only the frame and cab..and doing a full aluminum custom build tri-axle dump body. Being a Mack guy..I do believe this model to be a 379, would this be correct? And also, ditching the sleeper, would there be a day cab conversion kit availabe? Any help on this subject would be great appreciated. Thank you, Kurt
  12. Tim, Sorry for the delay. As a "dump" truck builder...I have to commend you on yet another fasinating build. Excelllent craftmanship. Do you have any pictures of the actual body in the "dump" position? Kurt McLucas
  13. I know of and have seen numerous posts on this subject, "Decals". I am planning to do my own decal generation, either using inkjet or laser decal transfer paper..haven't decided yet, I have all the Microscale products to finish with. Question 1: Would you guys recommend another product for the decals, and second..the biggy...apply the decals after the clear coat is applied or prior to? I am open to all suggestions..this would be the place for the correct answer. Thank you to all as always..and Happy 4th to all. Kurt
  14. A 2 person combination with the "hair dryer" works very well. This is a good case where the wife does come in handy. Use the high setting..keeping the nozel several inches away from the plastic..once it becomes "warm" start to twist a-little. This may require "several" heating applications. It does work. Good Luck Kurt
  15. Guys, Recently having placed an order to RNK conversions prior to March 17th 2006..for some odds and ends..I have not received them as of yet. Today I thought I would email them..not only to find out..that they called it quits..after 9 years in business. I hope to receive my order as stated...any thoughts from anyone? Yet another parts maker down the drain. http://www.rnkconversions.com DO TO DRAMATIC CIRCUMSTANCES RNK CONVERSIONS IS NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. ANY ORDER OUTSTANDING AT THIS TIME WILL BE FULFILLED. ANY ORDER DATED PAST MARCH 17, 2006 WILL BE RETURNED RICK AND KIMM WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR 9 YEARS OF PATRONAGE. Kurt
  16. Guys, When it comes to actually detailing/and or painting the hydraulic sections for lets say for a dump truck body, front (telescopics) what would you suggest? I have a few ideas of my own. I am open to your imput..there are alot of great modelers that contribute to this forum.. Also any tricks of the trade for the hydraulics to free stand? Stock plastic componentsand or possibly modified Thank you to one and all. Kurt McLucas
