Very nice build indeed..... The "chrome" back would really set off the entire rig... Kurt McLucas -
A Trashy Peterbilt
Turbo590 replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Tim... Sorry I couldn't chime in earlier.... I absolutelty "LOVE" it. Constructing a more "vocational" truck is always up my alley. A garbage rear loader would look great...could also be a roll-off, someone mentioned a concrete pumper...a "lugger" unit..a vaccuum truck..so many possibilities.... Let us know what you decide.... Looking For Aftermarket Rims/tires...
Turbo590 replied to locoengr's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Bruce... I would definately send an email to Dave over at AITM. The tires you have are 1/24th scale..the rims you have are 1/25th..that little difference is why the slide "through"..some of the older kits/some re-issued..that I saw in another forum posting..addressed to you, lists those kits. Check Ebay once and awhile..occasionally a resin caster will appear, with some different offerings..for both rims and tires... Again ,Dave I would consider a good start...you might also want to check in over at Dan's Model Truck World http://www.danmodeltruckworld.com/ Tires and rims are always a struggle sometimes..Good luck in your finds Kurt McLucas -

Tim... I am speachless...Unique indeed. Can't wait to see the finished product. Thank you for sharing it with us all. Kurt McLucas -
2-18-08 Guy's....Just finished the Mack 300 engine.... OK, I know it's not the big bad "CAT" but this will be alright. This is the 300 engine that is going into the Mack DM600 Triaxle mixer that I am currently working on. Not alot of detail, due to most of it being hidden under the cab "off-set". Decals are all custom made by me, a "little" weathering rust on the manifolds..and the kicker is...ALCLAD pale gold used (airbrush) along with some stainless steel. Now back to the main build. I'll keep everyone posted. Hope you like..and yes, there is an oil dipstick.....Sorry for the blurness..eyesight is going.... Kurt McLucas

Guys... Hope someone can help me located..just (2) 1-set..of these rims/inserts from the Mack Cruiseliner..Please see the picture below..also pictured is one of the actual rims...also please see illustration(s) 4 and 5 for the actual parts. Part #'s would be 175,165,174,182,166....I do not need the tires. I can trade parts/decals..etc...or buy outright. Thank you, Kurt McLucas

Tim, Another nice build indeed...for the start of 08 Love the color combination.... Kurt McLucas -
Casey... To answer your questions..... The project so far includes (2) of the DM600 Kits, and (1) Paystar Kit. I lengthened the frame with the DM600 kits, and then shortened it. Got all my dimensions setup correctly now. Reworked the crossmembers etc. Working on the drivetrain now..as pictured..going back to the mixer part here shortly. The REX mixer from the kit is stock along with some major modifications as you will see here soon. Color cobination will be black chassis, white mixer body, and red for the cab and hood assembly. As for the engine...It's going to pop with Alclad gold/pale gold..some accents in Alclad chrome and gloss black, along with all the decaling as I can get. Exhaust components will be Alclad stainless steel. Yes, the hood will fully open and function. Tim..insane yes..as I have a time frame on this one, as it is a commissioned build. Thank you for the nice comments.... Kurt McLucas

1-15-08 Guy's....Haven't posted here in awhile, Got the new 2008 project finally started. The insanity continues..... Just wanted to post a few pictures on the WIP. The project is coming along slowly..biggest hurdle to overcome was getting the Mack Cruiseliner kit, to obtain the 300 Maxidyne engine with intercooler..this updated version will compliment the build as an early 85-86 year. The interior is also being updated using the R-model dash and a few added accessories. New hinges were made to give the hood a better fit to the cab. Work on the lift axle is almost completed... Any and all comments are always welcomed..Happy building. Kurt McLucas

Guy's If you have one..or know of one...I am looking for the complete engine assembly from the Mack Cuiseliner. This would be the Maxidyne 300. New preferred..would conside a used engine as well, as long as all the pieces are there. If it is missing the tranny..thats OK. Could trade for parts..or pay outright for it. Thank you, Kurt McLucas

Wisconsin Milk Tanker Finished!
Turbo590 replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Anyone have "Strawberry Syrup" !! Tim, Another fine build. And always "detailed" oriented. Kurt McLucas -
Guy's.... Thank you once again to all..for the positive feedback. ewaskew.... All of the decals were reproduced, by taking actual pictures of real Peterbilts,CAT engines, and the real Ti-Brook dump body....etc, If I could buy the actual decals I did..if not digital pictures were taken, then "cropped" using my HP OfficeJet 6110 imaging software..copied to MS Word..resized..and then printed onto white and clear BareMetal Foil decal paper..again with my HP OfficeJet 6110 printer. Let to dry overnight ..and then a Tamiya clear coat applied...and PRESTO!! The tarp was made out of the black weed control material, in the place of black fuseable webbing..normally acquired from a fabric store. Thanks, Kurt McLucas

Finally..... The much anticipated moment is here... Other than 1 more bumper antenna to attach...I can call it finished. Thank you to everyone who posted all the great comments and feedback throughout the build. She has had her challenges/major set-backs/ etc...not 100% perfect..but I think it turned out A-OK. The wife and kids love having the bottom half of the dining room table back... Starting to lineup the next project to be started in Feb 08....Happy modeling to all Kurt McLucas

Same Truck, Different Version
Turbo590 replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Tim, One of the most important things I learned from you from the beginning, when I got back into model truck building and coming across your website...WAS DETAIL, DETAIL, and more DETAIL(s).. This build is no different..I love the inside dashboard 'clutter"...now I know where the UPS letter envelope I sent you with your stuff in it went...(I used the post office)... The "bent" tank step..very nice indeed... You are an inspiration to many...and I told you many times before..you are the same to me as well. Hammer down..and keep on building.... Kurt McLucas -
10-14-07 Guy's.... I just needed a few minutes to get away from the build..so I decided to post a few pictures of the aluminum dump body that is going on my 357 Peterbilt Triaxle chassis (previous posts) Bed just came out of paint the other day..This was the biggest Alclad II project I ever tackled. (Polished Aluminum). There are +'s and -'s, 89% complete. Still a few things to finish..including the tailgate and tarping system. Underneath is completely plumbed for the air hydraulics (tailgate and auto tarper)...Ti-Brook is now a part of TrailKing.. I was actually at the plant in Brookville, PA several months ago. This will be the last of the pictures..until it is completed.. Thank you to all who have followed this project, and all the great feedback and comments... Kurt McLucas

Guys... I wanted to post a few pictures here of the finished Caterpillar 3406E engine..that was also talked about in another thread here...Just added the oil..and she fired up..first try. I just finished plumbing the the air intake(s) from the engine to the radiator..just need to put some "clamps" on them. It is real aluminum tubing..polished up..real fun to bend..I think they turned out alright... Also are some pictures of the 19 1/2' Ti-Brook Dump bed..in the process of getting the Alclad II polished aluminum finish coat... Thank you, Kurt McLucas Next update...The darn thing will be finished..so the wife wishes.....

Johnny, I used Alclad II on everything.... By stripping all of the factory chrome, I can debur everything, fill and sand in all the seams..etc. It is not that hard to use. Just a "little" expensive..the look, if done correctly..is fantastic. It is air-brushed on. Polished Aluminum on the tanks/hydraulic tank/tool box/battery box/wheels (rims) and the soon to be dump body. Chrome on the Grille/headlight assembly/bumper/bumper poles/mirrors/sun-visor/bullet lights/engine fan Solid metal on the airhorns and the air breathers.. I hate to paint..Alclad makes it fun for me..you really see the results up front and fast. Thank you to all once again for the great comments and feedback...Happy modeling to all. Kurt McLucas

Turbo590 replied to J J's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
ABC Auto.... Don't hold your breath.... Read earlier in another forum...that the project (release date) was majorly pushed back till the end of October possibly into November...Maybe other forum members can ring in on this one... There are several original(s) floating out on Ebay right now...you might want to go in that direction... Kurt McLucas
