Tipper Trailer (trash)
Turbo590 replied to Semi Trailer Mechanic's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Scott, Boy, you nailed the details on this transfer trailer. Dave, Thank you for posting it. I had trouble retreiving/viewing it also. Living in Western PA, and J and J bodies/trailers out my back door..I see alot of these..on the roads...these would traditional have "walking" floors.... Nice build. Kurt McLucas -
Dave, The Fuel and hydraulic tank(s) are the original tanks that come with the Revell kit..they were de-chromed and cut down (centers removed along with the end pieces and repositioned) Seams were then filled in. The small cylinder you see between the tanks is the scratch built (Bendix Air line dryer)...a couple of hours in on that one. She is a fun build so far...Thank you for your thoughts. Guys, Just wanted to take a break from this monster, and post a few updated pictures. Lots of custom fabricated parts (Bendix Air dryer) for example. 19 1/2" Ti-Brook/Trail King aluminum body in progress. A Detroit Series 60 engine is on the way..and Tires from Jamie (Mo-Luminum)..fantastic detail(s). Nice weather is upon us , Happy building to all. Comments good or bad are always welcomed. Thanks Kurt McLucas

Turbo590 replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Tim, Two very nice truck build(s) indeed... I still amazes me the time in which you can turn a model out. Better start planning another addition to that house of yours. I don't know about you guys..Spring/Summer can't get here fast enough !! Happy Building... Kurt McLucas -
Flamed Pete 359
Turbo590 replied to dieseldoc's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Outstanding build as well. Engine detailing is superb. Kurt McLucas -
Jerry, She'll be new all the way. For everyone else..I decided finally to "yank" the Cummins engine..and put the Series 60 Detroit in its place. I have a local International reseller that has a new Series 60 in the parts showroom, as a display..will hit them up shortly for detailed pictures/decals..and to buy the factory paint. I'll share pictures with anyone who needs them... Kurt McLucas

Thank you guys for the comments.... Yes my intentions are to have the dump body modeled after the Ti-brook/Trail King... The pusher axle is from (CFC) Clint Freeman Components (recently picked up on Ebay) Seeing some of his items that he produced in the past..just amazes me... The tires are from Jamie/Mo'Luminum...(superb detail) I also have his aluminum air breathers on order as well. Kurt McLucas

Guys... Just thought I woud share some pictures with all of you. Laid down the knife for awhile. Started this project late January..long way to go. It will support a 19 1/2' aluminum bed with 74" sides Lots of modifications so far..lots of parts ordered/arriving. Haven't decided on the final color as of yet. Also debating replacing the Cummins NTC 475 engine with a Series 60 Detroit Diesel. Comments are always welcomed....Happy building to all !! Kurt McLucas

Revell Peterbilt Wrecker
Turbo590 replied to Turbo590's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thank you... to Dave and Tim.... This gets me rolling into the right direction. What model kit, or aftemarket supplier would you think might carry a CAT diesel engine such as the 3406? STS? Kurt McLucas -
Revell Peterbilt Wrecker
Turbo590 replied to Turbo590's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
2-4-07 Guys...and especially Tim, I need a refresher course on the model (Revell Cando Wrecker) Tim, you have stated that this is indeed a 359, and not a 379 correct. In making this unit a triaxle dump..I will scrap the tow body/sleeper and cab..where would you reccomend getting a 359 day cab? I see that STS sells them? What would you recommend? Now for the engine...Is it a CAT and or is it a Cummins? I have heard debate on both. And what model would it be? Tim, I would also be looking for engine and framing decals..any suggestions, since a Peterbilt dealer ship is not near. Anyone else have a suggestions on this piece. I started the removing of chrome this weekend on tons of pieces... Thank you to all as always. This forum is just really fun to belong and contribute to. I'll post pictures as progress is made..and Tim, I'll send you pictures as well. Kurt McLucas -

New Project 6 x 6 Oshkosh
Turbo590 replied to Old Albion's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Dave, Awesome work and detail on the Oshkosh build as well. Sorry I haven't emailed this to you sooner. 11-28-06 Happy Holidays to all..... It's been pretty quiet here on the forum as of lately..so, I thought I would share with you "guys" the next project for the dining room table..to be started after Christmas. Thank you to all, for the "great" comments on my single axle Mack build. To compliment it, I decided to do the tagalong trailer as well. All the research for the scale model is complete, various parts are being gathered for the build..and yes, I have even cut down minature real (oak planks) for the flooring along with diamond plate. The model will be fabricated after an actual Eager Beaver 20XPT (tandem axle) 20 ton trailer..this will have the option air suspension. All decals have be acquired to be reproduced in minatures as well. Final color will be yellow. Most of this piece will be custom fabricated. Here are some starter pictures. I'll post more as the build progresses. Any and all comments and feedback is appreciated. Hope everyone gets their model of choice for Christmas..Happy building. Kurt McLucas

Turbo590 replied to mackinac359's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Well Tim, It's about time you lean away from that "little" red oval. Very nice build. It is also funny, that my next build will be a Pete..coming from a Mack guy... Once you have "MacK" you don't go back!! as they say. What is next on the build block? If I may ask? Did you receive the pictures I sent you. Take care. Kurt McLucas -

10-29-2006 Well, "She" is 100% completed as of today. Just need to add the PA inspection stickers..and that is it. This was definately an "experience" I'll never forget. What "trying" moments through the entire project/build. I'll post a few more pictures for time being..BUT all will need to tune into the next version/release of Tim's (TRUCK MODELER.COM) website update for even more detailed pictures (if Tim will post them) Tim, several more pictures are on the way over to you. Thank you all for the kind comments...and we'll see you after next February with the BIG Pete triaxle dump build. Happy Holidays to all.......Kurt McLucas

Well Guys, After almost 1 year at the dining room table..this project is almost completed..which is a huge deal, here at our house. After paint, this piece has just "fought" with me in everyway. Just a few items to complete..some additional decaling, pinning of the hood (some final allignment(s) and she'll be ready for the glass cabinet. The model has a fully operational dump body (working taligate) full opening of the hood over the (grille guard) to expose the 300 Maxidyne engine, decals glore..Again this model with some modifications was made after one I actually owned several years ago. To, Tim, and everyone else thank you for all your imput/suggestions...Jamie (Mo Aluminum) for the cast resin tires..they are just awesome..and rare Ebay finds. Once fully completed..I'll forward some additional pictures to Truckmodeler.com for Tim to hopefully post. Happy modeling to all... Here are a few pictures.....Kurt McLucas

Mack DM800: DONE 4/2/07
Turbo590 replied to Casey429's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Casey, Looking good. Keep us all posted on the progress. Everyone "asks" what to use to strip chrome. I personally use Fantastik..put some in a small bowl..let your pieces "soak" a while..and presto..no more chrome. Works well for me. Kurt McLucas
