  1. That would be a 61 Catalina. As far as I know there weren't any 1/25 kit versions of the Catalina produced. If you're interested in redoing a diecast, there is a 1/18 scale 61 catalina out there. If you're interested in working with a resin body MCW produces a ' 61 Catalina bubbletop in resin. Here's a pic of it from their site. http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/61pontcatht.jpg
  2. I'll try to get an interior shot asap.
  3. Thanks everyone for the comments. I try to duplicate factory correct colors to the best of my ability, Mr. Moto you are correct on the for the carbs, I used plastikote cast gray to duplicate the correct color, aluminum paint is just way to shiny. As far as the interior color goes, 62 SuperDuty's had a tri color interior. I just went with a two tone one to keep from having to buy three shades of blue. I covered the lighter part with white primer and the dark part with black primer, then shot krylon fusion blue over it. That way I achieved a two tone interior using just one color of blue.
  4. Here's a few pics of my latest. Had quite some time on this one, frame was severely warped out of the box. Lots of rubber bands, super glue, and heat finally got it close enough to work.
  5. I like to build factory stock models, I had the same idea as you Skip. I just surfed the web looking for free restoration parts catalogs, and had them mailed to me. I now have a huge stack of reference for about every muscle car out there. it helps a great deal when doing correct paint on interiors, or misc. items on the model.
  6. Plowboy, I reside in the town of Grayson, Carter Co. How about you? By the way thanx for the comments everyone!!
  7. This is the first model I have built in over 20 yrs. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Its finish is Duplicolor Champagne Pearl rattle can with Duplicolor clear. I kow the right front tire is off the ground but its sitting on an uneven surface.
  8. Watched it , really didn't care too much for it. One things for sure, just like every other reality-based show, in 30 minutes you get 10 minutes of programming and 20 minutes of commercials.
  9. the can had full pressure after all those yrs, just in case you were wondering it was plasti-kote engine enamel.
  10. This thought never occured to me until today. I was painting parts for my 62 revell Impala, and remembered I needed some chevy orange for the engine. Instead of driving into town to purchase a can, I decided to see if I might have something that would come close to the color I needed. I was searching in my outdoor storage building, and to my surprise there was a rusty old can of chevy orange sittting on the shelf. I know for a fact that the can of paint is at leat 20yrs old, can is all rusty, plus it has been subjected to temperatures below 0 & above 100 for all those yrs. Believe it or not it sprayed and looked just as good as a brand new can!!!
  11. I do believe that it would be a 68 Charger...just finished the 68 RT kit myself. Dude your attention to detail is just amazin'.
  12. Due to the fact that my LHS is nearly an hour drive from my house, I find it hard to ever get the chance to go there. Plus gas cost me around 20.00 round trip. Where is the best and cheapest place online to purchase kits and other items from.
  13. I used the ACME platemaker, before I ran across this site, this one is far better than the acme site. The only drawback I can find is they have no up to date plates, the last one for KY is 1976 I believe. It would be nice to have some newer.
  14. Hey, I'm new to the forum. I've got a quick question for all you out there. I've started back into the hobby after a 20+ year leave. I am wanting to try my luck at polishing the paint on my models. Have any of you ever tried using a buffing wheel on a Dremel tool and polishing compound? I was wondering if there might be an issue of too much heat build up or easy burn through? Should I just stick with doing it by hand?
