I'm pretty sure that one big reason I still have both eyes and all my digits after 5+ decades in a business that can be unforgivingly "dangerous" is that I learned at a right young age that being careless or not paying attention can have painful consequences, and I have scars to prove it. Fear-based parenting produces young people who are not only risk-averse, but also incapable of recognizing potential risk in the physical world and behaving in a way that would minimize it. Watching "fail" vids on yootoob pretty much proves what happens when people who don't learn to think about how things can go wrong are released into reality.

Windows to the soul, or lack thereof, are everywhere if one only pays attention.

Which proves beyond doubt that neither managers nor the foot-soldiers doing the grunt-work need to be talented, skilled, or have any knowledge whatsoever of the product or anything remotely related to it. Yup. Today's predominant business model was started by Palmer. Who wooda thunk it. And certainly no one can question the excellence such a business philosophy turns out. -
Bit by bit, rationality is making a comeback, but we ain't out udda woods yet.

Say noobab 3 times, turn around twice, put your finger aside your nose, and you might teleport to Kansas City, but probably not.

I don't know if there is or not. Not the stuff I work on generally. I put a late-model FWD Caddy console in a '47, using the cable that came in the console to shift the 4L60E that came with the low-mileage Corvette C5 LS engine I put in it. There was a powered interlock solenoid on the shifter in the console, normally activated by stepping on the brake pedal, and no dead-battery override. I built one, not difficult, accessed through a small rubber plug in the LH console side. Worked like a champ when the first owner stored it long-term and the battery went dead. Then the next owner of the car had some chimps work on the thing, and destroyed the console because nobody gave them the special operating book we printed, had bound, and delivered with the completed car...or they didn't bother to read.

A little ol' IMC Mustang II kit was looking at me with big sad eyes when I stopped at a yard sale coupla days back. Only model there. Cheap. Missing "a few minor parts"...like everything mechanical...and a little "started", but a virgin body and all the panels and lights, glass, chrome, interior, etc., definitely enough to build it straight as a historical piece with a few spares from the stash. I built one way back when they first came out, with a balsa wagon roof. Not very good work, but an interesting concept I might visit again with this one (I think I have a cherry around somewhere to build as upgraded OOB).

Route 66 is pronounced "root 66" as far as I'm concerned, not "rauwt 66", but that's just my personal preference.
