  1. This is KJ's Pro Stock Ac delco Cavalier Extreme build. I started with the chassis like I always do on these builds. Alot of cutting, scratchbuilt bars grace this thing to make it a modern pro stock. I used the Summit Racing Firebird pro stock kit as a starting point. The front lower control arms were made from aluminum tubing and PE heim joints. Here are the stage pics from Metallic Grey basecoat to paint. It looks like my WJ car really! Adding the Carbon fiber to the tunnel and wheel wells is a daunting task!
  2. Lookin great Mr Pro Tech!!!
  3. Great work John!!!! I love the beater look, lowered with the tidy wheels that barely give away what could be lurking underneath! Great concept! DaveT
  4. Thanks guys.... Engine is 90% done.... I need to scratchbuild solder headers and do the fuel delivery system and its ready to go in. Of course another test fit for motivation.... ;D Dave T
  5. Back from the DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Engine is created..... Lots going on here... Black block, red Bell housing and metallic gray Trans. Of course there is loads to go but its definitely on its way. I used a AMT lumina water pump after I sanded off the lame one in the revell kit. Then I plumbed it properly as well. The pulleys are from detailmaster. You can see the holes in the front heads which will support the ALternator and P/S pump (see Jay? ) The sump pump is scratch built....... I did the oil pan a little different on this one. I noticed these days the pans are a very lusterous aluminum with weld seams. I made some welds out of thin plastic and diveted them up when the plastic was soft with a knife. Once all of it was dry I primed the pan, then painted it with Duplicolor chrome paint and forced it to dry well in the old dehydrator. There is still lots to do on the trans but I removed the shift linkages and will work on adding RB motion rod and ends to that area... Scratch built banjo style fittings in the pan..... Nothing would be complete without a test fit of the engine!! Its starting to get that look..... more to come if my ADD allows me to stay focused.... DAVE T
  6. The decals were not the greatest in my kit either thats why I replaced the tears with BMF! The rear wing is made by SARD, google it and you will see they are very shiny, Thanks guys! DaveT
  7. Too bad you suck at Magazine layouts!! Thanks guys....
  8. Kazama the "Drift Cowboy" ride is done! I tried to build it as close the the original as possible. I was not happy using the kit supplied Tear decals so I made new ones using Bare metal foil and clear yellow for the gold accents. Tamiya Park Green sprayed directly from the can was used for the paint. The kit stock interior was modified to look like a stripped down interior with drilled holes in the package tray and a scratch built roll cage before paint. All in all, a great looking car...... Here is the interior pics since you cannot see it well inside the completed model. And here are completed pictures.
  9. Thanks guys..... Got the interior buttoned up tonight. Complete with Nitrous and on board engine diag equipment. Seatbelts are pro tech PE hardware and medical tape painted to match body. The drivers seat is a resin Bride Zeta II from SAS. Pass seat is from the kit.
  10. Absolutely exquisite work my man!! DaveT
  11. More updates on mine: Body done, wing carboned, and headlights and tail lights in place. Aoshima did not provide a proper race stripped interior or rollcage so I did it myself by adding holes to the rear package shelf and a scratchbuilt roll cage painted silver and one coat of omni. I will add fully detailed bits next. wheel and tires gold plated in the kit.. added a little wash to tone them down a bit... you gotta love aoshima rubber! Here is quick mockups of the stance I will try to achieve..... more to come! DaveT
  12. Thanks guys..... got a little done on the vette..... Body decaled and foiled except for door handles.... Wheels and tires done! DaveT
  13. Great Job Pete.. I hope mine turns out this well... I like the surgical look yours has over some others I have seen over done in the weathering dept. I am sure the 1:1 car looked this good when it was first built. I myself love that look. DaveT
  14. Not trying to cause trouble.... just stating the facts!!!!
  15. Its looking real good Chris. Keep in mind, this board has lots of nascar haters so you wont get but a lick and a promise!!! But all that aside, its looking really great... nice clean detail so far.... DaveT
  16. Because the car ran gold wheels too.... Thanks....
  17. Good work so far guys.... I thought I would get in on this one too.... This is one I have had in progress for a few years and this thread is a good excuse to get back on it... This is a S-15 Silvia that competed in the D1 Drift series.... The real car It is an aoshima kit that has all the nice body mods but needs help in the interior dept since Aoshima left it as a stock S-15 interior. Here is the body MOCK pics... as you can see I the real deal has chrome mylar graphics. The kit decals are a dull silver. Even though I could not add all the foil decals I decided to replace the tear offs with real BMF and clear yellow paint. The green on the car is Tamiya park green shot directly over the plastic and buffed out. I hope this car qualifies...
  18. The cars usually dont have that low of a line but that was a big complaint with this particular kit made by STARTER... The ride height was too high as well. I was able to correct that by grinding out the wheel well areas to get the tires up in and tucked properly... At first when I was in process on the build I was really dissapointed with the low roof line and the stance but being able to get one of them remedied satisfied me on the final outcome... Thanks all! DaveT
  19. My first 1:43rd but definitely not my last! I was worried about the roof line on this body since its so low, but once the car is totally done, it is not even noticeable in my opinion! I parked it next to my 1:24 Red FXX so you have an idea how small it is.... Thanks for looking..... DaveT
  20. Thanks guys... After some polishing, I just could not resist a few decals.... look at that thing!!!!
  21. This will be a dual WIP thread showing off a few significant Sunoco Liveries from the past with a 30 year spread between the two cars.. First up: The awesome 1966 Penske/Sunoco L-88 Corvette. Some real eye candy...... You just gotta love that Sunoco Blue and yellow combo no matter what its on, but a factory built L-88 427 fire breathing C2 Stingray makes it even better!!!! I am using the Revell kit and building it with mild engine detail and a few interior corrections to make it more accurate and adding photoetch to both areas as well. Here is the body as per usual. Scalefinishes Sunoco Blue and yellow are in process with Dupont 2 part Chroma clear 7500S A little polishing and this baby will be flawless! Its 30 year younger brother will be the Ron Fellows driven 1996 Trans AM Camaro. For the life of me I cannot find any real photos of this car which is shocking. If any of you have any float them my way! The inaccurate diecast from GMP. ( I will put this thing to shame hopefully!) Notice in this picture the yellow looks like old school sunoco yellow like on the vette? Well that just will not do!!! > The paint of choice on this one is again, Scalefinishes Sunoco Blue but for the yellow I went with Valspar Chartreuse. A Blindingly Glow in the dark (not really) Neon Yellow! This will match the decals perfectly and look awesome with the red neon bits on the sheet. Dont worry I will be doubling up the decals too!! Body has been tapped off, painted and cleared with the usual Dupont 7500S. I will add decals and coat them with Micro scale Gloss. The real car I am sure was decal and not cleared but who knows.. Does it hurt your eyes? More to come on these soon! DaveT
  22. Done in stunning Cobra colors Daytona Sunset Metallic. Straight up build with added seatbelts and catches and tinted rear glass. DaveT
  23. Awesome job, good to see you modify/paint to achieve this car... RIP Scott.....
  24. Thanks guys..... It was a pleasure to build.. challenging, but fun! DaveT
  25. ANd a few more pics.... Thanks for looking!
