  1. Thanks guys....More done!!! Dash and seat are done but need final detailing. The kit seat was modified and treated with embossing powder. The dash is the kit piece but the kit gauges were sanded down and decals applied with rings of metal tubing that were polished and parted off the lathe for eveness. With the body on. The gauges look cool peeking out of the window! More engine detailing also! Especially the oiling system and oil cooler. I have seen many cooler with mesh covering the cooler itself. I thought it would be cool to add that detail. Much more to do here!! And with the body added More real soon! DaveT
  2. I decided to get more done on this project and bring it back up. Its really cool doing a late 90's Cup Car and a Ford to boot. The engine is just about complete with the usual detail treatment. The pulleys were made on the lathe. Pro tech line and fittings along with DM fittngs were used. Test fit of the engine in the bay. More decals were applied to the body. I also made the roof flaps out of brass. Thanks!
  3. Complete and in paint!! And!!!!!!! Ta da!!!!!!! Body in paint and partial decals... Let me give you a little detail here... Body was based in white, masked off and Valvoline blue from the old uncle stash was used. Then the car was cleared, polished, and slixx decals applied so far!!! I am enjoying this one so far.... its not too old, not too new.... just right. Thats 3 6's on there!!
  4. Next up was a fully detailed Chassis.... This time I decided to use the kit greenhouse bars but scratched the firewall forward including the front nose bars..... I added square brass tubing to represent the hollow frame rails on the real cars... Another cool piece of advice from Clay....
  5. The late 90's was my fav era of Cup racing.... and I was a huge fan of the final draft T-bird before they went to the guppy taurus..... One of my favorite schemes and driver was good old Mark Martin. How can you not like a consistent, clean driver like Mark? Let alone that awesome valvoline bird... SO.................. I decided to start another extremer of his car.... you just cant have one, or two of these started!! Here is body pics! I slabbed the sides, cut the front grills, and opened the trunk and flaps. I also hinged it, and added under trunk and hood detail.... you know the usual stuff... It still needs some fine sanding and such. Dont worry about the side grills. I will tape them up!
  6. Great work as usual Michael... your parts are secon to none... Dave T
  7. It is the color... and bright artificial light in my photo booth is no substitute for sunlight.... it is synergy green over light grey primer ....
  8. Yes. I lowered it as much as possible. The wheel wells prevent any drastic lowering abilities... Thanks guys! Dave
  9. Very easy, but I would not use the white rally stripes... they will bleed... Thanks!
  10. Done!!!! Painted with Scalefinishes Synergy green and Omni clear. Great kit, but definitely will need a stance modification or it will sit like a 4X4!!! WIP can be seen here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53089
  11. At this time the Subassemblies are ready to be put together. Things will fit very tight and the sides of the body will need to be stretches so go slowly!!! Once the Body and chassis was assembled I mounted the wheels and tires. The stock stance was too high so I modified the location points a bit to get the car to sit better. Unfortunately that meant the wheels are not centered on the brake rotors but it was a necessary sacrifice. If I build the car again I will modify the suspension during the build. Here are a few pictures of how the car sits now. Even at this point I would have liked it lower. But it will have to do.
  12. All the components fit and look great once the chassis is complete. Since the chassis is complete I turned my focus to the body. I added the kit wide stripes to the hood and trunk. The window frames were carefully painted with acryl flat black by brush. Here is the interior with the glass installed. It is a one piece assembly that was carefully painted with a chisel sharpie around the borders and acryl flat black for the headliner. It fits well and can be glued along the edge of the center portion to prevent ruining the glass. The front grill, and tailights are very clever assemblies stacked with clear/red lenses, followed by chrome tubs that snap together producing perfect results.
  13. Thanks Guys, Big update on the Revell Camaro SS The interior is complete at this point. PLEASE dont mind the water drop on the decklid. I was cleaning a brush and a drop fell there without my knowledge until I saw it in these pictures! LOL!! I saw this shot online and knew I needed to do my interior this way: Here is my version plus a water spot that got removed after the pics were taken!! Scalefinishes Interior black dye was used for the seats. It "bites" into the bare plastic to give it a leather texture. Tamiya light green was used for the inserts I also detailed out the engine bay using tamiya light green since I was out of synergy greeen. The powerplant is complete as well. There is alot of detail going on here right out of the box. The block was painted Tamiya TS-30 which is great for a clean aluminum color.
  14. I carefully painted the custom wheel centers by brush with acryl gloss black. Then I picked out details with chrome silver. A quick mock up. I plan on painting the interior black. More very soon on what so far appears to be a fine new kit from Revell!!
  15. This is the new full glue kit of the 2010 Camaro SS. I am really excited about tackling this one! The boxart: Upon opening the kit: The body is crisply molded and will look fantastic in Scalefinishes Synergy Green basecoat!! The chassis and interior components The kit is very nicely detailed. It also comes with body sills, a front lower valance and rear lower valance that I plan on putting to use. Full suspension components accurate to the finest detail. Of course you can build a stock SS if you desire. Full engine detail and stock or custom wheels. nicely molded rubber tires look proper in proportion (sans any sidewall detail.) Rear tail lights are molded in red plastic. Revell also gives you metal exhaust tips. Beautiful decal sheet with a few stripe options. Here is the body in Scalefinishes Synergy Green and Omni two part urethane clear. I painted all the body kitparts gloss black for contrast. This build will be similar to thecamaro at the SEMA show. I carefully painted the custom wheel centers by brush with acryl gloss black. Then I picked out details with chrome silver. A quick mock up. I plan on painting the interior black. More very soon on what so far appears to be a fine new kit from Revell!!
  16. Frickin Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. True it could be slightly lower but in reality I think the stance is pretty nice out of the box. Gregg -- I will see what I can do...I don't live in that "backyard" anymore.
  18. Hossolimi: Lowering the car will be tricky... The wheel wells are not that deep on the chassis itself. You can probably lower it a scale inch max. Not sure what SMS has coming out for the kit. JohnnyB: The windows were done freehand with a wide chisel sharpie. They are marked on the inside with a ridge to guide you. I guess you could mask them but I never have been a fan of that method. Thanks for the comments
  19. Here are the final pictures. I apologize for undersized photobooth.
  20. Very cool kit, Simplified, but definitely impressive out of the box and a bargain for under $70.00. A base kit for superdetailing is definitely possible. Exterior Paint: Scale finishes Grabber blue and OMNI 2 part urethane clear Interior Paint: Scale finishes Interior Black Stripes: Kit supplied They are bit tricky to apply. Also the front middle bumper stripe fits odd. The rest of the kit is boxstock with decal bits and baremetal foil added in certain area. HERE ARE THE SUBASSEMBLY PICS: The fitment of the glass on the body was very impressive. I used a wide sharpie for the borders on the inside of the glass.
  21. If you change the color on the stripes, how will you handle the "GT500" logo on the lower front rockers? Also keep in mind, as expensive as a 1:1 GT500 is, the stripes are vinyl and not clear coated....figure that one out......
  22. The engine bay has just enough details to make it visually "busy" Some final mockups. Its getting close!!!
