Hey thanks Bill...I totally forgot about the deal with the Superbird swap for the Bullet, it was probably mentioned in the MA article, but either from Mopar overload or old age....I left that info out! -

Reference material for those who are interested: Mopar Action-October 1996- Silver Bullet Mopar Action-October 1993- Tom Hoover's Coronet Mopar Action-October 2012- Silver Bullet II ??? What the heck is with the Ocotober issue dates.....Halloween? Or are they just trying to scare the heck out of the competition?? And for anyone looking for pictures etc. silverbulletgtx.com the car is(?) currently owned by Harold Sullivan, he was the one who found and restored the car. -

Well if you want some of that famous double/double Timmies....I can run down the street to get a couple for us! Even before that article in Mopar Action, I had heard about this car, everything was speculation, rumour....I believe that MA was the first magazine to do an article on this car? It has been mentioned in the other mags, but I don't think there was many photos.10 second cars running on the street back then was DEFINATELY Pro Stock territory...this car was totally streetable! More streetable than the so called cars that participated in "fastest street car" shootouts done by some of the other magazines! Okay.....back on topic...maybe Rick can do the same thing to the quarter panels that was originally done to the Bullet? Is the drag slick in the S&M car bigger or smaller than the real car? Might have to look around for a different slick....not sure? -

Man oh man....John, you need to stop hiding in my garage and going through my Mopar mags....or you could just come in for a coffee or beer!! LOL! October '96!?!...been that long huh? I was dusting the cobwebs off trying to remember everything from that article, glad that ya chimed in to fill in the spaces. The Silver Bullet II was recently featured in Mopar Action...back up and running I believe, this will be on my "to do list too" one day! -

AWESOME!!!! I have the Mopar Action article on the Bullet, hard to believe that this was just a test mule that Chrysler was using at the time, then given to Jimmy so he could dominate the streets of Woodward!! Not that any of the OEM's were participating in street racing....wink, wink, nudge, nudge! The Bullet was only beaten once in all the races it took part in, although I think that Tom Hoover might have beaten him in his personal '66 HEMI Coronet. Car Craft did an article on this car back in '72, back in the late 90's I was at a MOPAR meet in Renton, Washington...a vendor there had a bunch of magazines for sale. Flipping through them, I found that original magazine...think I paid like $12.00 bucks for it....pretty cool to see the style of cars that were running around at the time. The magazine article was heavily focused on fast street cars and even back then...the car had a cult like status. When it was found and restored, the current owner built a clone that he could play with on the track, this way preserving the original for us MOPAR fans. Finish this one up and you could look at doing the Silver Bullet II.....that Jimmy started to build, but never finished before health concerns became an issue. -
The "Kowalski Edition" Challenger was sold by a dealer in the states, at the time, white was not an option for the SRT8. He ordered 10 cars (which is the lowest number available for special order paint), and had the emblems made up, and added the wheels...I remember seeing them advertised on ebay (I am thinking 2010?) for sale. The picture of the two guys dressed up and cruising worked for Chrysler....the black fellow is none other than Ralph Gilles...head honcho for SRT! They participated in the One Lap of America (Cannon Ball Run), unfortunately....the Chally met a tire wall and had to be withdrawn due to damages. I am sure back issues of Mopar Action had a write up on them.

Got a MOPAR question - looking for opinion on my own insanity...
dieseldog1970 replied to VRM's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Few years back...seen in one of the MOPAR mags, a 1971 Dodge Demon...equipped from the factory with blue exterior, black body stripes....and.....BLACK AND ORANGE HOUNDSTOOTH interior!!!! Cannot recall if it was a survivour or complete resto....and one line from the story that has stuck with me...."Chrysler Corporation would not let anything stand in the way of a customer ordered vehicle....including bad taste!" So....anything is possible, I have never seen this combination before...if you have a spare interior...shoot it in copper and test it with the painted body. Either way....it is only a model and have fun with it! -
Thanks for posting the pics, i always thought that the third car was white...probably just due to it being dirty and sun faded over time. That colour was not one of the high impact colours, probably a pale yellow (not sure what the name actually is, would have to do some digging for that.). I thought I seen a Charger hood with the tear drop scoop on it for sale??? Might have been on the 'bay...this was just recently too....hmmmm? I think that the only hard part would be the decals, not sure if there is anything available from the aftermarket? Keith Marks maybe...I am sure someone could chime in. Other than a Revell Daytona, headers and slicks....might be a fairly easy build...but who am I to say....all my stuff is packed away in boxes!! LOL

Here is some random trivia I came across regarding the "King Daytona"....most of these cars were built pretty much the same, only difference being the transmission and motor. Two car were built that had every option that could be ordered on the Daytona, one still exists, this one has the vinyl roof from the factory (removed at one point and then returned back to factory stock), Mopar Collectors had an article on this one. The only other Daytona that had more options was the "King Daytona"...optioned exactly the same except for the high impact paint. Imagine what that car would be worth right now....EVERY option available and with a history of being owned by Big Willie Robinson.....!!!!
-
They sold this car for $18,000.00!!!!!????? Now that is surprising....I would have thought with the car being tied to the movie that it would get more than that...looking at the VIN tag....I think it was originally powered by a 318 c.i. small block....Real Daytonas have XX as the beginning of sequence number. I would definately have to do some digging to find a 2001 issue of Mopar Collectors Guide, I knew that it was one of them!
-
LOL!!!! Now that movie had some memorable lines!!! This one was rented off a couple California brothers...(last name of...Maccadio....spelling is probably wrong) who are quite heavy into the winged cars and have been long before they became 6 figure investments. This one was going to be Plum Crazy Purple when done...but got snagged for the movie....one of the brothers has a video on Youtube with his primered Daytona clone doing a burnout...something like 350-400 feet long!!! They also have a clone done up in Neil Castles colours....I think there is video of them racing both cars at an event in Cali.....primered Daytona going through the dirt sideways!!! Yeah..I know.....I read wayyyy too many magazines!!
-
I am game....car on the left is a street Superbird.....B5 Blue.....the one on the right is Marty Robbins car....not sure if it is original or a clone? I don't recall seeing any articles on this car in the magazines I constantly buy....unless i missed one? LOL He was a well respected driver who raced just cause he had the cash and wanted to....one way for him to get away from the music industry for awhile. Now..regarding the white Daytona...I seem to recall an article about this car a couple years back...(Mopar Collectors Guide or Mopar Action??) It was bought buy a gentleman from the eastern part of the U.S(?) only member who joined the Brotherhood who was not from California area. And if memory serves me well....the Queen Daytona was wrecked while racing...and King was acid dipped to death!! The white car is the only one left that Big Willie had....when purchased...Willie gave this gentleman both helmets that Tomiko and he wore back in the day. Now if I could only find the article..I could post sum pics.....I only have around 2000 MOPAR magazines to search through!!!

Sounds very interesting!!! If you are thinking of this...a 1933 Dodge coupe would probably be a hit too...doing both a stock and a chopped top version would satisfy the replica and hot rod fans! There are alot of plastic and resin Fords and Chevy's available, the only older Mopar is the 1941 Plymouth...but this is only my two cents.

Just 5.........hmmmm????? 1. 2013 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Crew cab short box (daily driver for me) 2. 2013 Dodge Journey for the wife (although she really does like the Jeep Commander-discontinued unfortunately) 3. 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T clone (built the way I want with a nice 472 crate HEMI) 4. 1933 Dodge Coupe (nice lil' street rod with a 6.1 or 6.4 HEMI...in Panther Pink just to be different) 5. A new Dodge Dart for my daughter (she is only 14 right now...so I have time to collect some pop bottles!! LOL)

Take a moment to hold your children, grandchildren...for that matter...anyone of your family members tight. In the blink of an eye, you can lose them...a very tragic event that should not have happened!! Touchy, Touchy Terms
dieseldog1970 replied to James2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Coronet Super Bee...this one bugs me !!!! I have seen this term used on everything from EPAY to model magazine reviews and it is like nails on a chalkboard to me!! When the Super Bee was brought out, they used the existing Coronet platform...you never see a Road Runner called a Satellite Road Runner, even though the Runner was based on the Satellite....AARGH! I have used the term "dog dish" to describe the hubcap on a cop car rim...or was that supposed to be wheel cover??? -

Thanks for the interest Sean, unfortunately...I do not have any pics of that truck. If I would have known what the future was going to be, I sure would have taken alot more pics! I do recall that the motor was around the same size as a Cummins N14, I did try doing a search through Google to find anything at all...but no luck. I will continue to see if I could dig anything up, I still have a few co-workers on facebook...so let me see what I can come up with. -

As the afternnoon wore on, and the luncheon was finished, it was time to head down to the bar for a drink! I gathered up my stuff, and headed to the door...the crew was in to clean up after the meal, I stopped and took one last look...the area that I had spent 6 years of my life was bare and empty. There were no work benches, tool carts, kitting racks or trucks...just bare concrete and the long booth in the middle of the plant...saddness filled me...I knew that going out the door would be the last time I would ever step into this place. I choked back my emotions and turned...with one final swipe of my employee card...I went out the gate and towards my truck. I made my way down to Angies Pub and Bistro, found a spot in the parking lot, and went up to the front door...when I entered, there was one of the managers there, handing out one red ticket (ddor prize) and two green ones (drinks). These plus all the appetizers were payed for by the Canadian Dealer Council...they had contacted the upper management about splitting the cost, but they did not want to be liable for anything outside the plant. So all the dealers chipped in to give thanks for 35 years of building the best truck out there...I did not end up winning any door prizes...but I sure used the drink tickets!!! I gathered with all the employees, we laughed and told stories, we hoisted our glasses...then we did it again, and once more times 3...and so the night progressed. Avter sum time, I kood harly wawk...I's thunk I did drunk waay tooo mush....I barley remumber dat my wif come to git me...she poored me unto da kar....and uh.....ummmm......yesh.....I's got home....I wuz tared....and woke up wit a baad, baaad headacke!! And like everyone else...the hunt was on for work...I did manage to find something after I had used up my severence...and now ten years later....telling my story. Feel free to ask any questions...I will try and give you some answers... to be continued... -

During high school, local convience store clerk, pizza delivery (fired from that one for driving too fast...but never got a complaint about cold pizza!) LOL After leaving school..detailed cars at numerous dealerships, worked at a plant that made windows and doors, got my dream job at Western Star Trucks in Kelowna B.C. building Class 8 trucks for 6 years and 3 in the warehouse stocking, shipping and receiving...plant was shut down and moved to Portland. Ran forklift on nightshift at Home Depot for a couple years after that Tried the tin bashing business...hard to raise a family and pay a mortgage on those wages! Spent 5 seasons plowing roads on the Coq...during the summer I ran a water truck and helped build roads, worked at the City of Merritt for a couple years, just recently tried the cement truck driver gig....but since I ONLY got 2 days of training.....I was let go after 30 days cause I was not getting the concrete end of it???? So now I will be starting a new job running a hydrovac truck....plan to retire doing that.....HOPEFULLY!!! If all else fails.....WIN THE LOTTERY!!!!!!
