  1. Just finished this Ford a few minutes ago. Started her on last Saturday, and the build took me five and a half days as it's barely noon here now. The paint is Ford color Coral Sand mixed in Nitrocellulose Lacquer "Duco" paint following the original 1957 formula. Like one had to pay 65,50 (acording to the price book a dealer here in Brazil had) to get this color (extra cost option) I also added two other extra cost options that are the body color wheels and wide white wall tires. If the body colored wheels option was not asked for, the wheels would be just painted black or silver, depending on the plant where the car was built. Thanks for looking, and I hope you like my '57 Custom!!! 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
  2. Finished!! Will be "under glass" in a few.
  3. You want feedback right? I think you are doing a fine job on getting the car's look. Your spark plug wires are too thick tough. Some thinner wire would look a lot more realistic.
  4. Being a Galaxie fanatic, I can say I like it. The weathering is great. I would like it more if the were in factory stock condition tough, after all it's a 7 Litre. yes, I know I'm biased, but I always thought the best way a car can look is the way it was when the factory built it.
  5. That's what I call a tasty custom.
  6. Very cool!! Can almost hear that SBF singing...
  7. It looks good!! Very nice replica of a Ford that lot's of people underestimate.
  8. Very nice!! Not one but two Fords!!!!
  9. That's AWESOME!!!
  10. Thanks for the comments guys!! I finished painting parts, and started the assembly process. Built the engine, and glued it to the frame. Then glued the exhaust, and glued the frame to the floor pan. After that I built the interior. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr When I got to this pint, I moved to the body, and foiled it, then super glued the glass: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr And that's where I'm right now. It's taking a while, usually I would have the car completed by now, but I'm not having much time to work on the '57, at least not the amount of time I would like to.
  11. Fabrica Italiana di Automobili Torino!!! I wish I could find one of those kits priced below the real car price range around here. I have a thing for Fiats. I think being Italian helps...
  12. That's gonna be good!!! By the way, this is not a Custom 300, it's the base model Custom Tudor. The Custom 300 has a full length chrome spear on the side.
  13. Got the painting finished on the floor pan: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Painted the gas tank and the gear carrier of the rear end: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr On the interior parts, I finished dealing with the decals: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
  14. Another update: I painted the two tones of gray on the interior sides and front seat. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Tudor par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity Also painted the dash: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity Still have to paint the flat black parts, put the decals, and to paint all the details. Also painted the engine: 1957 Ford Custom Tudor par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity And the floor pan is painted red oxide primer, that is really Revell Reddish Brown (matt 37) enamel paint. Still missing on this part are the Argent on the splash pan, the Coral sand overspray, and the flat black on the rubber floor mat. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity
  15. I don't know if the headlights are too small or if it's the grille that is too small, but it looks like there is something wrong with the front end design. Anyway, it looks like a copy of a Kia or Hyunday, that by it's way was a a copy of a Mercedes.
  16. A little update Yesterday I prepared all the parts I wanted to paint semi gloss black, and glued them all to the painting stand. Today I got the Tamiya TS-29 paint I wanted to use and painted all the parts at once. The engine was painted silver yesterday, as it's the perfect base for red. My next step now is to paint the rest of the floor pan red oxide primer, and do the Coral Sand overspray. Probably I will prepare the interior parts to be painted the base gray color at the same time, so I only will have deal with the airbrush and compressor one time this evening. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr The frame was assembled as far as possible before being painted. This saves a lot of touch ups later, and makes all more "factory built" like. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr The wheel backs were also painted semi gloss black. At the factory, at first all wheels were black, and only the outer faces were painted to match the body color, and even this was optional on the very basic Custom Tudor. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr The floor pan will be painted red oxide primer. The front inner fenders will be masked to remain painted black. The front splash pan will be painted argent. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
  17. Great color choice!!!! It has a very period looking colorfulness that modern cars lack.
  18. Have being watching and enjoying the WIP, and the final product looks awesome. I love it!!!
  19. Well, I beat you feel better now. The best thing to do is to start a new one, and don't give up on the original idea. After all, it's just plastic isn't it?
  20. This is a Brazilian Maverick. A 1974 Maverick GT all original with just a repaint. Take a look on the dash, and you 'll see the actual glove compartment and the KPH speedo: 1974 Ford Maverick GT 302 V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1974 Ford Maverick GT 302 V8 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr This is a picture of my mother's '74 Maverick GT. 21. OK, little update: Took the body off of the painting stand, and polished it just a bit. painting the body on vertical position works like a charm, and there were no dust spots on the paint to sand off. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Custom Tudor by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Was about to start painting the frame and all semi gloss black parts today, but will have to make a run for some TS-29, looks like I'm out. Will paint the engine instead...
  22. Nice Small Block Ford!!!
  23. Thanks guys!! That's what I love about Ford cars. You could get almost everything. The only exception was the interior that on Customs was only available in gray and that was it. The paint is not Duco Brand, it was reproduced from the old Duco formula. A company called Lazurill that by it's hand is owned by Sherwin Williams still makes the base reducer or vehicle and pigments Duco did in the 1950's. This paint is not enamel nor simple lacquer, it's a nitrocellulose based lacquer and it's known just as "duco" like a kind of paint. it's used to paint engines, frames, construction equipment, and all sorts of things that need a fast drying, and resistant paint. Nobody uses it to paint cars anymore since the '70s as it has to be polished or waxed often to keep the shine.
  24. It's a clean build. The glass is free of glue spots, and that's not easy to get on a first model. I think you are on the right track.
  25. Thanks guys While the body is drying to get polished I glued the engine halves together. The next step now is to sand the glue joint on the bell housing and on it's stamped lower pan. The transmission is supposed to have a casting joint on the botton, and the glue joint is right were it is. After it's done, I'll sand the mold lines and ejector pin markings from all parts. I think it will take me some time. Will post the next update as soon as I have something else painted!!
