¿Que? Model or 1:1? Lots of differences, just like a Mustang. Biggest outside difference is side marker lamps on the '68, but there were lots of differences in the interior and in outside trim too.

??? Other than side maker lights, I've never seen a lot of differences between the '67 and '68 Cougar. I have noticed the difference between the '67 and '68 Mustangs. Grilles, steering and more padding to the dash. And the '68 Cougar did get the new design steering too. But, beyond those two items, steering wheel and side marker lights, I don't see a lot visual difference in the two years of Cougar.

Sorry guys. It's the model kit.

I picked up a builtup yesterday...and think it's a 67

Will ck and get pics this morning

Edit,,,,,,its got sidemarkers.....its a 1968. I want a 1967.

I'll remove the sidemarkers and move on if thats the only difference in the 2 kits ?

unless someone has a an original 67 kit they want to trade . I'll sand them off and build my old car I had in high school. Which was a 1967 390 auto

red oxide primer , black int and blk vinyl top.... backseat wasnt worth a darn for a high schooler though

Inside door handles, window cranks, steering wheel, dash trim, seat pattern, collapsible steering column, inside mirror, radio options. The 302 became available in 1968. '67 XR-7 had some "hash mark" moldings on the rockers, the '68 had a full rocker molding. Nothing earthshaking in the modeling world :-)

Edit: The seat belt buckles were different and 68s had shoulder harnesses. As with the Mustang and Fairlane, the '67 had 4-piston fixed calipers and the '68 had single piston floaters. Because of the taller caliper, a '67 wheel won't clear a '68 caliper.

Steve, did the hash marks on the '67 XR-7 make it on to the production/street versions of the car? It's been a long time since I've looked at '67 Cougar XR-7s, but I thought the hash marks were only on prototypes and early press cars. I maybe wrong on that? Am I?

The trim on the rockers ahead of the rear wheel were only on the '67 XR-7 is my understanding...seen some with them.

Another model year difference--the '67 had 'cougar' in capital letters on a horizontal block on the rear quarters, '68 had a script. As a kid it was fun studying all the differences between the two years, 3 in my family ('67 base 289, '68 base 302, '68 XR-7 390).

Bill's kit seems like neither fish nor fowl. It has the 68 markers and the 67 XR-7 rocker hash marks. It also appears to have the chrome molding that the 68 XR-7 GT-E had to divide the argent lower bodyside paint from the body color. I had forgotten about the "emblem" vs "script" on the quarter.
