crazyrichard Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 closed part of the innner tubs and on the rear next to the exhaust pipes there was a gap , closed those on both sides , all needs to be sanded flat
crazyrichard Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 made some plastic ramps , looked cool but then decided to make them out of amuminium and when they are finished i can polish them .... the sides will become thicker with an edge thats it for now have to go out now ......
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Love the ramp plates. Looking forward to seeing more.
Jantrix Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 This just gets more and more impressive. Very creative.
rsxse240 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Holy cow! This is gorgeous! I am in total amazement with the style. Doesnt seem like you really had a plan of execution, kind of letting it tell you what it needs. I can relate. That's how most of my builds happen. You do have an eye for style.
crazyrichard Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 tnx guys !! much apriciated and ken , yes you are right .. and i never ever had a real plan not on my cars and not on my dio's .. best way for me is to start building and just see where it leads .
crazyrichard Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 so the alu ramps .. i bend alu to make a little side edge and make them thicker .. glued with superglue .. now when i went and polished them (on my machine) the glue let loose in places (due to the heat) so i was looking at them and tbh they looked good but i wanted somehing even straighter .. i realised i recently scored some old window blinds with holes in them .. same size holes as i drilled .. but these machine made holes where 4 times more straight then my hand drilled holes ... seems big but this is a close up here nice size holes , made sides so they are thicker the plates will rest on supports i think .. need to make something to hook them on and when done i can put them under the floor , they slide in there
crazyrichard Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 somebody asked why i didnt slide them under the floor on the corners where they should sit when a car go's on ... awnser was simple the taillight things where there already where there before the sides and floor ... now i wanted it sliding on that spot and after concideration on the stirdyness i sawed the top of the taillight section .. they slide inther now , but i did not thing of the wheels .. the ramps cant go in all the way due to the wheels and tyres and making them shorter isnt doable then the angle would be to steap .. now i want to try and mke 2 ramps the right lenght so they slide under on the corners and make them a 2 piece so when they slide out part flips over on a hinge ... cant start it , have to go visit somebody today .. but the idea is there
Randy D Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 This is superb work Richard !!!!!!! Love the way you just go for it :) Randy
crazyrichard Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) thnx guys !! much apriciated .. i came home from visiting relatives and in 10 minutes did a mod i had in my head when i had to go out to visit them ... the floor was way to smooth and flat and with small diameter round styreen i made and edge along the sides .. really makes it pop .. so simple and yet such a difference .. later i will also make sunken o rings to put straps on and a electric winch Edited April 5, 2015 by crazyrichard
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Great update. The edge on the bed looks great. Great work as always.
crazyrichard Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 thnx bob ! and its cool that sometimes those small things can make all the difference ..
Mopar - D Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Richard your updates continue to improve your fantastic build every time you post. Looking forward to see it finished.
slusher Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Car hauler is looking incredible Richard. You have made so much great progress since i was here last. Wow...
crazyrichard Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 thnx guy's !!! today was a bit of a drama , nothing worked .. i made a hole in the floor for a cilinder to make a moving floor ... did that because the ramps where to steap .. and i just wanted to get that right ...because its mostly a rod hauler and those are often lowwwww started yesterday by making the ramps like this , not straight but with a raise .. worked great but the cars still would hit in the middle .. nobody would notice .. cant really drive them on .. but i just wanted it so they could go on i made a hole in the floor with a hollow alu tube worked into the floor and with round sprue inside , so i got a moving cilinder to raise and lower the floor , then made a bed from old window blinds and cable gutter (the grey stuff) its got and edge so a second floor could moce up and down on that way to square so i bend some shape into it the result was they now could drive on and off not hitting anything now i mentioned a sliding floor , my idea was to make a sliding floor so it raises and with a cable system it lowers the top floor to the ground .. now the problem was the floor is not square , due to the caddilac sides and the shape i made and floowed with the top floor the part and the cab side is more narrow then on the back .. so when i put in a second floor that can slide .. it gos out of the side runners because its narrow at the cab side ... then i put the rams back and ctually liked the look way better .. i also found a hauler that could raise the floor and then use loose ramps .. so its still something that could be real
crazyrichard Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 all is primered , not dry but very carefully i could make a losoe dryfit for pictures.. the floor where i opened it thinking the cilinder should mode back and forward ,, in the end it only needed to slide in and out so i closed the gap .. since we will barely see that when lifted i didnt bother making it smooth and kept the recess and drilled some holes for looks primered parts on the hauler , it can go further down but like said primer isnt hard so i could ony put it on / in loosely the cilinder where i made the housing in the floor only needs to slide in and out and i wanted the clean look
bpletcher55 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 way to push it to a new level , love the ramp and bed ,
