Ramfins59 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Got my issue #193 today (2015 Contest Issue) and would like to congratulate EVERYONE who has had their model(s) pictured in the magazine. That's better than winning a trophy at a show..!!!
High octane Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Yeah it is Richard, way better in my opinion.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I need to pick up a copy. Heard I have a truck in there.
Brizio Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I bought the magazine, but not all the contest are in it...
Ramfins59 Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Fabrizio, if the people who run contests submit good photos and captions to the magazine, or, if the magazine sends someone to the show to shoot the photos, then the contest will stand a good chance of getting into the contest coverage. If the shows don't submit photos then they're out of luck.
Petetrucker07 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Just picked up my copy. Lots of great and familiar builds. Hopefully the photographer at the show my truck was pictured at remembers to get a bigger photo booth. My little truck took up the whole frame. He said was gonna up size it, like I said, hope he remembers.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I bought the magazine, but not all the contest are in it... Of course not! We have a page limit. Including all contests would result in a magazine as thick as the NYC phone book...
Petetrucker07 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Harry, wonderful job on the issue. I can't imagine how tired you are of lookin at your computer screen.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Harry, wonderful job on the issue. I can't imagine how tired you are of lookin at your computer screen. Thanks, Clay. Yep, I've had my fill of contest models for a while...
oldnslow Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Of course not! We have a page limit. Including all contests would result in a magazine as thick as the NYC phone book... You say that like it's a bad thing.

I remember seeing MCM cards on the side of the models, and, kind of photographer with nice camera/photo boot, but I don't know what this photographer do with the photos, maybe they take picture only for kill the time... Of course not! We have a page limit. Including all contests would result in a magazine as thick as the NYC phone book... I though about the page limit. I have no idea how thick is the NYC phone book, but I guess is very thick...
Ramfins59 Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 Yes Fabrizio, the NYC phone book is over 2 inches thick.
oldnslow Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hey Harry, how are you guys coming on the "cars of the 70s" book. I've just about worn out the pages of the 50s and 60s editions, need some new reading materials.
johnbuzzed Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Yes Fabrizio, the NYC phone book is over 2 inches thick. And, that's just Manhattan. Now I gotta find a copy ASAP. It's been a while since I've had anything in print. Thanks for pointing that out, Rich.
Lunajammer Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thanks, Clay. Yep, I've had my fill of contest models for a while... I thought of you too Harry when I received my copy. I admire magazine layout designers. I once had a conference call interview for editor at SAE. They opened by apologizing that the position had been filled internally (curses JH!) but said they had a design and layout spot opening up and would I like to compete for that. I told them no because I thought the position would be too demanding to enjoy, so I always appreciate your work Harry.

Bill and I just finished "Fifty Years of Mustangs," a look at the last 50 years of Mustang model kits... that one has been taking up most of our time but is now finished and available. So maybe the '70s book will be next.
Brizio Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Yes Fabrizio, the NYC phone book is over 2 inches thick. That's not too bad, I though it was thicker. So maybe the '70s book will be next. That's explain your worried/exhausted face on the avatar... Just kidding...
JTalmage Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 So to get in magazine does one have to attend shows or do pictures for MCM get used from this website too? Was always sort of curious how that worked here.
Harry P. Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 So to get in magazine does one have to attend shows or do pictures for MCM get used from this website too? Was always sort of curious how that worked here. In the contest issue, we only use models that were entered and/or displayed at the contests. For other issues, we rely on people who submit material to us. And yes, sometimes we see a model posted here that we like so much, we ask the builder if they would be willing to submit material to us so we can do a magazine feature on it.
Ramfins59 Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 Harry, have the "powers that be" at MCM thought about having a page or so of Readers Models???
Harry P. Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I like that idea. If anyone wants their model to be considered, PM me and include a photo or two of the model.

Oh cool. thanks for the clarification. I need to finish some stuff! would be cool to have something featured.
