Can anyone recommend a kit source for a good Chrysler 1/25 scale 440 TNT engine. Preferably with a 727 auto.

I need it for a 1969 Chrysler 300 resin kit that I've just bought.

Zoinks! is right. Maybe a JoHan '66, '67, or '68 Chrysler 300 kit. I'd be willing to bet the Plymouth Fury kits from that time also came with that same engine. Only listed as a Commando.

I like the engine in the Revell 68-69 Charger and Dart kits .

As far as the 440 TNT air cleaner nameplate your on your own. I dont think even Fred Cady even made that one

I know the Johan '67 Chrysler 300 kit had it, & I believe the '68. I'm pretty sure the '65-'68 Plymouth kits all had Hemis in them. I have a couple of these engines from '67 Chryslers, but I don't think I can part with them. But this sounds like what you're looking for.

Some-one --a resin caster-- is reproducing the " 440 T-N-T " air cleaner , but I can't recall just who is repopping them .

Another consideration : the rocker covers ( colloq. , "Valve Covers" ) differ from year-to-year . However , that's not as big a deal as it seems , and most of the changes were on 1970-1971 model year engines . The T-N-T 440 was Chrysler's first high performance version of the new-for-1966 440 (remember , the 440 was a C-Body only engine in 1966 ) .

Let me see if I can pull up a couple of images of correct 1966-1969 440 engines ...

1966 T-N-T :post-6643-0-51862200-1427850372.jpg

1966 383 T-N-T ( note : air cleaner I.D. is incorrect ! ) :post-6643-0-60480700-1427850404_thumb.jp

Close look at the 1966-1967 Air Cleaner I.D. decal : post-6643-0-61576900-1427850462.jpg

As you can see , the crankcase breather is on the driver's side rocker cover , and the CCV is on the passenger-side . That arrangement changed in 1970 when the evapourative emissions package was introduced . I mention this as a caveate : the 1971 Charger 440 would be incorrect unless you want to modify its rocker covers .

A TNT version of the 383? Never heard of that one.

"T-N-T" was Chrysler's nomenclature for their high performance engines ( e.g. , "Magnum" = Dodge , "Super Commando" = Plymouth ) . The "T-N-T" stood for "Twin air cleaner snorkles-aNd-Twin exhaust" .

As far as I know the only 383 engines to ever use the air cleaner nameplete was Roadrunners and the 383 powered A bodies

That's what I thought too. The 383 Commando in the Road Runners. And the Super Bees may have had a Magnum 383. But, I only know of plain 383s in Chryslers. Two and four barrels. I do know that 440s came in both TNT and non-TNT four barrel versions. I am not sure if there was ever a TNT version of the 413?
