Ken Gilkeson Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 signed up for an April start. ideas are sketchy at best, should be fun though. built this kit over 35 yrs ago as the roadway version, not this time around. will be built basically out of the box.
Mopar - D Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Ken I'm sure you will make it interesting this time around I received mine last week but im going to miss the April Mack build may be June or July for me.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Awesome! Cant wait to see this! And Dan, theres no need to worry about time frame. Its just about getting to do something as a group and honor a certain truck. Every few months we should do a different truck build. This was a great time for a Mack because of the DM release. Good luck with your build Ken
Goodwrench3 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 LOL... seems to take me 6 months to finish one ! I'll have to sign up every other time ;-)
gatorincebu Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Anxious to see what magic you will work on this kit! be Well Gator
Mackvision Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 My wife said mine arrived today!.................................Mark
Goodwrench3 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 As my wife says when these packages arrive at the house ... "oh great.. hours of fun for the whole family" LOL.
Goodwrench3 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I guess I had better order mine Well.. if you order one, then I have to as well. LOL
Ken Gilkeson Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 glad to see alot of interest in this kit. it should make for some great builds. the possibilities are endless. chassis coming along, chrome that has to go away for the direction this seems to be headed.
72 Charger Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Ha Ha Ha I nearly fell off my seat when I read ( Oh great.. hours fun for all the family ) Nice progress BTW Ken Edited April 17, 2015 by Doobie
gatorincebu Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Ha Ha Ha I nearly fell off my seat when I read ( Oh great.. hours fun for all the family ) Nice progress BTW Ken Lol Reminds me of omy last wife in a way. While she supported my hobby. She often made those snide little comments under her breath. I ussually never heard them or understood what she was saying ( I am hearing impaired , she said I had selective hearing. That I heard what I wanted to hear?? ) :-) ) I always told her" At least you know where I am, and that I am not out in the bars or opn the street chasing women!!". Be Well Gator
Ken Gilkeson Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) shame the tires were designed for this kit and don't fit the rims, i'm downsizing to amt tires.my kit came with some duplicate parts Edited May 9, 2015 by Ken Gilkeson
Jim B Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Your DM600 is looking nice. I agree, the chrome has to go. Chrome spokes? Seriously, AMT?
Ken Gilkeson Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 no chrome wheels, could make the 10 holes work though not going with them. considering aviation fuel truck so tires will work in this application.
landman Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I just got one too but I'm planning to use it with a resin vintage Mack, likely a B61. So the cab and interior at least may become available..
bandit1 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Anyone have a spare set of the ROADWAY decals id love to get ahold of one and put on my ltl?... Nice build so far
Goodwrench3 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I opened my kit yesterday and couldn't believe the amount of parts that are chrome...including the oil pan! Quite the hot rod with all that chrome !! How about adding chrome differential covers to really bling it out ! It sounds like this kit should substantially increase sales of Easy-Off . LOL
Tesla Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Quite the hot rod with all that chrome !! How about adding chrome differential covers to really bling it out ! It sounds like this kit should substantially increase sales of Easy-Off . LOL It sure will! Other than that, it's a very nice kit.
Goodwrench3 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 It sure looks like a sweet truck. So -- I saw one post about making it an airport fueling truck (neat idea) -- most of the DM600's I've seen were used as garbage trucks, dump trucks, cement trucks, etc. I've seen a pic of one pulling a low boy trailer with a crane on it (wide/oversize load). So what is everyone going to put on the back of this truck ? Are you making the back end from scratch or some donor kit?
Ken Gilkeson Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 after a little engine work I may go with plan b and fix the wheel tire problem and go a different direction.
kilrathy10 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 This is going to be an interesting build, Ken....I'll be watching.....I haven't ordered one, yet, but I feel the bug a biting....We'll see what kind of work I get this week and see if I can score one.....Looking good, so far, Man....
gatorincebu Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Ken, You have my attention on this build! be Well Gator
