Fat Brian
If I remember correctly the 4270 was modified into the 4300, the 4270 kit with the blue day cab box art was issued in 1973.
ZIL 111V
-1973: first introduction of the F4270 ERTL kit. -1977: 2nd updated version of "Top Model" 4300 "EAGLE" kit introduced, F4270 kit was still available. -1979: Last year of the F4270 kit (ERTL kept the 4300 kit, thru the 80s). randx0
Thanks for the info , I believe it is the original issue I'll post a pic or two when I find the camera cable . I haven't researched this kit much yet but there wasn't a whole lot to be seen with the usual google search real or model . I know I won't be building it for awhile so I don't need to remove the shrink wrap but I sure want too.
Goodwrench3
I've got one of the F-4270's still shrink wrapped in my "stash" Sweet kit. I think the price sticker on it is like $4.70. LOL.
Edsel-Dan
I built one Way-pback when myself If they were sold at the same time wouldn't that mean that separate inserts were used for the 4270 & 4300 parts?? Maybe we Could get the 4270 version re-issued after all I need one or a 4300 as our Rescue is getting replaced an a year or so It is a 4400, so either will work, though the 4300 would be closer to what I would be going for
ranma
The 4270 (4200) #2 in the international model line for ertl, #1 Transtar 4070A #3 1466 farm tractor all were first issued in 1973. although the 4270(4200) kit was around till as late as 79, it was out of production. The molds were changed over to the 4300, this is easy to spot on the first 4300 (yellow molded) hoods. If one looks at the underside of the original issued 4300's hood they will see where the extra length was added to the 4270(4200) hood. On another note there was two diffrent issues of the transtar II, So ertl acually made three IH transtar cabovers! When ertl changed the 4070 a into the transtar II the air ride suppension was carried over, The later edition went with the hendrick walking beam suppension. Which got shared with the 4300.
