SpeedShift Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 (edited) I got it done in time for a local show this weekend. I was in the only category it would fit...Trucks Vans Pick Ups and 4x4. I thought about entering Factory Stock, since I spent a lot of time back dating the Revel Thames dragster van to the stock configuration - stock engine, interior and drive train. But those entries must be "as it would be on the show room floor" with no modifications, and my car did not have the stock Ford wheels of that time, Anyway, the category was competitive as expected. No awards but I'm so glad I had the motivation of a contest to get this one completed. Edited October 23, 2023 by SpeedShift 1

Lunajammer Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I admire your commitment to keep with it through the years. Your interest in the subject really paid off. Nice work.

Spex84 Posted Thursday at 04:15 AM Posted Thursday at 04:15 AM Congrats! I think it's fun to see a little Thames earning that attention. Your hard work is evident. On a random note, if that's your writing on the entry sheet, I was admiring the style! Were/are you an architect, engineer of some sort? It has that "design sketch markup" look.
Bainford Posted Thursday at 07:03 PM Posted Thursday at 07:03 PM Congrats! A very well deserved placement. I have somehow missed this build over the years, so just spent the last hour or so going through this entire build thread. Nice work, and I really appreciated your efforts to get the details right. The result is a very cool little model.

Were/are you an architect, engineer of some sort? School of Architecture - Virginia Tech class of 76. Landscape Architecture program. I liked the Revell Anglia hot rod when I was a kid...the Thames seemed a good candidate for conversion to a woody. If I was to do another Thames or Anglia, I would replace all the door hinges with something more robust. Everyone of them broke after the body was painted while working this conversion. Real frustrating trying to salvage the project. Thank You for the compliment.

Half way through this build I debated whether to deep dive and do the research for the stock engine, drive train, and interior - or just wing it with modernized equipment. Thankfully the internet had some good stuff that made a stock version of an English Thames/Fordson woody build possible.
