I've just abused myself by reading all 9 page and 225 posts on this subject. And I have come to the conclusion that Ford did not design their firewall correctly back in 1930-'31, and Revell is just correcting that long past due mistake.

Actually it's been fun reading this thread. I don't know where I stand on the mistakes/or accuracy of this potential upcoming kit. Being a test shot, if there are mistakes, I'm hoping Revell will fix them before the kit arrives. At the same time, I like what I'm seeing, and I'm sure I'll buy one if it looks basically like the test shot. I'm not as picky as some of the others out there. I just like the looks of the with the 3 deuce set up.

Since there are parts for the coupe already in the roadster kits and at least 2 finished test shots, I think we can be certain this coupe is coming.

When is the question..

Even if the firewall isnt right, I'll be smoothing it out and recessing it anyway. I just want a modern tool '30-'31. I still love the old monograms though.

First thing I'll try is to build up a fendered car on the old Revell '30-'31 fenders. Nice thing about the little SBC in this kit is that it will fit under a full hood, so the sleeper potential is high.B)

when will this kit come out I want at lease two.

Well, Revell hasn't made it "official" yet with things like a price and stock numbers, box art, etc. So probably not before the end of the year. But it is coming.  Eventually...

Remember how quickly the Revell 32 3 Window and speedwagon came out, within a couple months of each other, and then the roadster within a year after that? (I think)

With so much work already done on the 30/31 coupe obviously done, I bet we see it within the next 6 months (fingers crossed)

I swiped these pictures from another forum that I visit. Evidently, these came from the mans Facebook page that builds box art models for Revell. Looks like we're getting closer to having the '31 Coupe variation!

I see some very interesting things based on these pictures. One is that it appears as though there will be two different sets of wheels included. The "steelies" from the '29 Roadster and new Halibrand style wheels. Another is a "bare bones" style interior that represents the steel inner body structure without upholstery and good looking aviation style seats for the channeled option. The extra dash board that showed up in the '29 Roadster is obviously put to use in the coupe with a good looking gauge panel. The "hiboy" version looks to have a very nice traditional pleated interior. Both late Model A and '32 radiator shells! Lastly, other than the Chevy engine it appears as though the entire chassis is a direct carry-over from the '29 Roadster.

The thing that is missing from this body shell is what was called, by Ford, the "Hood Shelf". which was an extension of the cowl and front quarter panels.  The hood shelf area was slightly channel shaped, to hold a strip of webbing which provided an "anti-rattling" cushion between the underside of the rear of the 4 sheet metal hood panels and the hood shelf itself.

Pretty easily made from some Evergreen strip styrene too.

I have a nice Model A Coupe resin body somewhere in my stash and I haven't even opened the box on my Model A Roadster kit, so I really can wait for Revell's next Model A release.

The channeled coupes look cool, but the stance or something looks definitely goofy on this highboy. Too low in the back or too high in the front, or both...

It's the same problem the current roadster kit has. It's a mile high in the front.

Does anybody know if the rear wheel wells are stock or as Revell "helped" us again with making them bigger? Also a set of stock fenders would be nice.

since it seems like the fender wells match up with the frame rails and the outside radius of the rear tires, I'd s that they're the same ones we got with the roadster kit. Looks like doom and gloom for those that planned on using the old A fenders from the woody and sedan kits they had left over.

Just being curious, but if those who were going to use the old fenders from the woody and sedan kits, if they want to build cars with fenders enough that they kinda complain about the new kits not having them, what did they build with the old kits if they have fenders left over? lol

It's not a 4-71 blower like I was originally told it would be (way back when it was still in development), they ended up using the same 6-71 from the 62 Corvette gasser kit.  I does look a little "square" but I don't remember anyone raising too much of a fuss about it back when that kit came out.   Was really hoping for a 4-71, though.  :(
