In light of Ron Hamilton's recent '65 Olds 88 build, I think it would be good time to see some full sized Oldsmobiles.

In my opinion, big Olds' have been woefully under represented in the kit world.

The new Revell '50 aside, The only other Oldsmobiles that were ever offered were the Johan & X-EL kits from 1957-1963 & the fore mentioned '65 AMT kit, that I know of.

I'd like to see what others have done with some of those kits.

Please, no Cutlass's, & lets refrain from the '50. I'm looking for those '57s-'63s.

By all means Ron, feel free to post your '65! ;)

I'll get things started with a Johan '60 Olds 98 Scenicoupe.

The '65 is the only Big Olds I have built. My dad had a few of them in the '60's, and one of my good friend's dad had a Maroon 1968 Toronado, which I will do in scale.

I only wish I had some more Oldsmobiles built.

I have a slew of them to be built, and I love that '60 Steve. I am after a '60, which I will probably turn into a convertible, and do as a pace car. If I had the money, I would love to get a Tom Coolidge '59 Super 88 2 Door Hardtop.

I just picked up a Jimmy Flintstone '61 88 hardtop That I'm very excited about!

Super nice clean casting. Although the rear bumper required a bit of grinding to get it to look like a bumper. :)

That '60 is a stunner (as usual), Steven!

There was a '60 body shell on eBay recently which was very rough but had an intact roof; that roof looks much more accurate compared to the one on the AMT/SMP annuals of the time. Would have used it for my '59 Bonneville but it went for too much.

I also have a '61 88 four-door hardtop in real good shape for an eventual build.

Just got this in the post yesterday, a Johan 62 Olds Super 88. It's built but not painted and the inside mirror seems to be the only part glued. I'd never seen one before and had to have it. Great that it's a 4-door.

My small contribution: '57 and '58 X-EL Promos repainted in the mid 80's - will get a polishing treatment and some BMF sometimes in the future.

Exactly what I was after!

I have one of the '57s to do something with in the future.

Still need a '58.

Nice stuff Helmut!

Well here's my 3, a rare Miller resin cast 53 Olds 88 4 door, an Excel 56 2 tone green 4 door, and my 50 Olds wagon by Best Model Car Parts resin body.

There's a rare bird Peter, & in great shape!

I would venture to say, probably the rarest of the Johan Oldsmobiles!

I'm loving the '56 Al!

My brother in law had one of those in high school.

His was 2-tone dark green & mint green.

This is another one I would like to find at some point.

Who's going to volunteer to start resin casting interiors for all of these X-EL re-pops?

If I could get interiors for them, I'd have to build them all! Probably just as well I can't! :D

BTW Steve, your 60 Olds is (still) absolutely magnificent and beautifully photographed too. I've tried taking outdoor shots but haven't managed to make it work well yet.

Go to the top of the class!

Here's my 59 mild custom, sadly the only Olds I have.

How could any of us ever forget this master piece Ron!

I have a very nice built up of this kit I hope to do in the near future.

Something makes me think I'll be hard pressed to "ever" rival this one!!

Thank you Peter!

I really hope to add a few more Oldsmobiles to the line up in the future.

I have my eye on a couple. ;)

Here is another onethat is rather seldom seen: JoHan's 63 Starfire 2 door HT:

Hastily built 30 years ago, it will need a restoration

It's funny, you'd think you'd see more of these built.

They're all over ebay & someone is buying them.

You would think they would surface from time to time.

It's an unusual subject, & it does look good finished!

I have one, just need to pick up a few parts for it.

Looks especially nice in that color Helmut!

Thanks Steve, not sure I deserve all that but with your impeccable building skills and style you should have no problem! Very much looking forward to seeing what you do with yours. B)
