would it not be better to use the big john maz Willys version that came out in late 90s (?) instead?  And make the appropriate mods?

First, you are replying to a almost four year old thread and two, it would be way to many mods to the new tool to backdate it to this car. Not worth it.

The BJM car was released in 2001

Nothing wrong with bumping an old thread,  but I concur that the SWC kit is necessary at the very least for all of parts that are unique to that car. That said, nothing wrong with a good old fashioned kit-bash combining both kits.

Actually, Casey just bumped this thread a couple of days ago, so stevez probably just read it thinking it was a new thread, which many of us have done here in the past. I tend to not check out the original post date when it is near the top of the forum.

Growing up in Detroit as a teenager in the 1960's we use to go to Detroit Dragway on Saturday nights. Saw the Stone Woods and Cook car race the Mazmanian car many times. ...............those were the days to grow up with cars. Also remember seeing George Montgomery quite a few times too.

Atlantis probably has the SWC molds now anyway.  Does anyone have the last reissue and can check if it was made in the US?  If it was then they have it.

The most recent 2015 reissue was molded in the U.S., except for the tires. That might explain why Atlantis' first auto releases feature kits with styrene tires:

Yeah, vinyl tires are done on completely different machinery from what I understand.  Thanks for checking
