Jon Haigwood Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Just finished a "fun" build. Started with a AMT "kit in a bag" I bought at a swap meet for $4. It has the molded in driveline and exhaust so I figured I wouldn't spend much time on the underneath. The "Flatty' was a built motor left over from a past project. I wanted to represent a car some guy back in the 50's would build. All available cash was spent on speed parts and none on the chrome and paint. This was something I wanted to put together just to put my thoughts back in the day when Hot Roding started. Not built for contests, just for me.
wayne swayze Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I like your approach on this. Your title is O.K. in my book. I've lost track of all the words to describe a category. Looks like you got a fun bang for $4!
Snake45 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Oh I just LOVE projects built from leftovers and/or unloved junk! This came out just FINE and you can be proud of it! Well done and model on!
Jon Haigwood Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) The last thing to do was the windshield but I couldn't decide on how to do it. Full, half, leaned back or straight? Then I decided I liked the look of none at all. Did some research and found out that no windshield was not uncommon in the 50's. So left it off. Thanks for all the nice comments Edited June 15, 2015 by Jon Haigwood
JTalmage Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I love vintage style builds. This looks great! I've been stockpiling parts to make vintage hot rods out of parts box materials!
Peter Lombardo Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 very nice, I like the wheel choice and color........it works so well on the roadster.
rmvw guy Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Nice job on a vintage look for a vintage price. I've always loved amt '32 Fords. The black hub caps are a cool look also deserves a second look.
