aurfalien Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Hi, Would anybody know were one would find a Ford Cosworth FVA or FVC engine in either stand alone or part of a kit? UPDATE; Anything between FVA-FVD which were producued between 1966-1975. Edited June 16, 2015 by aurfalien
aurfalien Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Hi afx, Nothing yet. Been eye balling a Chevron B16 for a future project. A bit ambitious at this point but its future stuff. Right now I've 3 projects going, first 4/5 done, second 2/3 done and the third is parts gathering/planning phase. The B16 will be like a few months down the road.
afx Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Monogram's Trans-Am Mustang have an in-line four as does Esci/Revell's Ford Escorts. Both would require a lot of scratch building to make this.
djflyer Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) I know Replicas and Miniatures made resin cast Cosworth BDA and Lotus-Ford Twin Cam if either of those can work for you. Maybe a starting point for scratch build. Edited June 16, 2015 by djflyer
aurfalien Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Wow cool, thank guys. Yes I'll hit Rep&Min. Does any one have a current email addy for em? This one bounced; replmincomd@aol.com
PatW Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Yes these are available also as Fiat Twin Cam engines in some of the rally and sportscar kits of that era ( 1960-1970's) I have used a Ford Escort Mk2 kit and bought a resin Mk1 bodyshell with bubble arches. This is before the top brace bar was fitted.
aurfalien Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Wow, those kits are showing for big bucks on ebay, ~$85 and up. I've the Fall/2014 Rep&Min catalogue in hand, man what a mess, hard to find stuff. Hope the Cosworth/Lotus-Ford fromage are in there.
jbwelda Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 yeah their catalogue is kind of hard to follow but there are photos of pretty much everything interspersed amongst all the text so that makes it a little easier. If you have in mind what you want its sometimes better to just call Norm and order from him over the phone, he will know all the part numbers or won't need them. be warned though, he does keep a lot of stock on hand but if not it might take him a bit to get around to casting whatever you might want. and youre gonna probably want a lot. jb
aurfalien Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 Cool info, thanks JB. I think I'm gonna call him.
aurfalien Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) I know Replicas and Miniatures made resin cast Cosworth BDA and Lotus-Ford Twin Cam if either of those can work for you. Maybe a starting point for scratch build. I just spoke to Norm at Rep&Min of MD and he never had a 4 banger. And it seems very hard to find a kit with this engine. Any one know which exact rally kit by chance had it so I can focus? Edited June 19, 2015 by aurfalien
djflyer Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Sorry Brian, just checked my old stash and it was MiniExotics that had the Ford TwinCam. I still have it if your interested. It's cast in a clear amber resin and may be a little brittle after all these years, but looks like it will be ok with some clean-up.
aurfalien Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 Hi, I PM'd you. Thanks a lot for the replies.
afx Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) These are the kits you want. Edited June 19, 2015 by afx
aurfalien Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 Wow, killer info thanks dude. But, and seems there is always a but, those kits are big money. To me accuracy isn't worth the cost so if I build the B16, it will have a Ford Cosworth DVA engine. Bedises that car is soo cool looking that it should have a really beefy power plant
