Greg Myers Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Brad, you gonna have name tags for this one too?
AzTom Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Is the lunch counter going to be open??
AZ Boy Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Yes Tom. It will be open for business. The hall looks great by the way. The contest room and vendor area will be flip-flopped from previous shows there. Lots of room!Is the lunch counter going to be open??

blunc Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Nice photos Mike. The cars in this contest were incredible! Thanks, I wanted to capture more but the crowds, and my "slow" camera lens made that problematic.
gasser59 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Not sure how I missed you yesterday Mike. Thanks for the pictures.
Crazy Ed Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Mike Wonderful job on the Pictures. That Candy Red '32 was the Eyecatcher for me.

Greg Myers Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Yep. Doesn't get any better than this here in Phoenix. Next up, Desert Scale Classic 12 April 9th just down the road 35th ave. and Greenway road. See you there.
Greg Myers Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 . . . and the weekend BEFORE that , Saturday Arpil 2nd Mike Cholewa's BIG PLASTIC MODEL FLEA MARKET also at the Postal Workers Social Club 3720 W. Greenway road . Man, busy month.

martinfan5 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Are you kidding me? With so few toy/model shows around here, they do two a week apart? That can't be great for sales at either show. Kind of odd that the March swap meet got pushed back a week a before DSC, hmm
AzTom Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Whatever. I'm sticking to the Desert Scale Classic show. I would rather support the model clubs for the benefit of the hobby than someone making a few dollars off table rent.
Greg Myers Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 So let's boycott one or the other. We'll show 'em. Nobody wins. Let's make the best of this. All this infighting isn't doing our hobby any good. What little candy there is in what few candy stores and you're going to cut off your nose to spite your face ? Your loss.
blunc Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I'm fairly certain that Mike Cholewa would NOT have scheduled the "Flea Market" so close to the DSC if he had a choice.Sometimes the chosen venue forces you into a sucky time slot.I would hope that everyone that can should take advantage of both vendor opportunities since you just don't know where that "one kit" you're looking for will show up.
AzTom Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 So let's boycott one or the other. We'll show 'em. Nobody wins. Let's make the best of this. All this infighting isn't doing our hobby any good. What little candy there is in what few candy stores and you're going to cut off your nose to spite your face ? Your loss. When I posted, I was not suggesting a boycott and was not aware of any infighting. I only stated what I was going to do. I did one of Mike’s Flea Markets in Aug 2008 and was unable to set up at his next Flea Market due to other commitments. I never heard from him again and did not know he was even still doing the Flea Market. I have been setting up at the Dessert Scale Classic since 2007 and other than the IMPS and a NNL along the way, the DSC as been the only model show I have done. I don’t NEED to sell any of my stuff but I’m never going to build it all so here I am. I enjoy the guys at DSC and seeing all the well built models, even taking home some trophies when I get something built. What I can say after 30+ years of doing toy shows when I was doing it for a living is, there is only so much disposable income in any given time frame. Two shows a week apart is asking for failure of one or worse, both of them. With the time and money put forth by the vendors they can not afford to split the available funds down to two shows. The out of town vendors can not justify the cost with lower sales. That is when, No nobody wins. In this case it would be my pinion that if Mike was concerned about about the hobby, he would have canceled his spring Flea Market or moved it to May.
