Petetrucker07 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Here's my recently purchased 72 Gran Torino glue bomb, well, glue bomb is an understatement. First look, it has a very poorly done paint job. Next, it is a NASCAR body and that's where the Gran Torino about it ends. The chassis, interior tub and rims, are from a 70 Super Bee prostreet. No motor or tires from said Super Bee. This was someone's attempt at a bash up, I would consider done badly. This is a glue bomb, gobs of what appear to be Elmer white glue were holding this together. I bought a 70 Torino for everything, minus the body. Now, my question is. What to do? Here are some pics of this.
russosborne Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Did you see my post in the other thread you had about this?Forget the 70 Torino, everything about that year except maybe the engine and trans is 100% wrong. Other than the name they are completely different cars.Russ
jeffs396 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Give it a bath in the purple pond to see what you REALLY have as far as condition... The ProStreet theme on a '72 Torino isn't a bad thing
Petetrucker07 Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 I did see your post Russ. Thanks for the info and link. I'm not looking to build an accurate car. I just want something that appears to be stock.
Foxer Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Be thankful for white glue and NOT styrene glue melting things together.
Bob Ellis Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Get a Starsky and Hutch Torino and replace the guts
Dave Van Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Richie Panch NASCAR stocker. Chassis from any Nodel King stock car kit. Street machine inspired by Clint Eastwood........
SVTInterceptor Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Richie Panch NASCAR stocker. Chassis from any Nodel King stock car kit. Street machine inspired by Clint Eastwood........ I love the green Torino. Nice wheels!
charlie8575 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I agree...S&H Torino for the undercarriage and engine/transmission. The interior would probably be best-sourced from The Modelhaus, as I think there were a few differences in the '72 vs. '75-76 interiors. The Revell '70 can supply the Magnum 500s and decent tires; you'll need to trim the S&H suspension mounts a bit to get to stock ride. Charlie Larkin
junkyardjeff Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 The S&H should be real close since they were mechanically the same car up through 76 and could be the same as the 77 to 79 T bird if that kit was ever available.
