jimstixxx Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 This is my take on the IH Lonestar. It is the 2nd one I have and I decided to give it a unique paint job. Purple met. Lacquer base,w/easy flame paint mask. Flamin orange red and gold blend throughout the flames to make this rig pop. 1 coat of clear and waitin for another ,but she looks great. Dhould look good all chromed out. Enjoy ,Jim. more pics to come....
Christopher J Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Looks fantastic. I used the same mask and had problems with the adhesive leaving residue on my paint. Did you have any problems with yours?
jimstixxx Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Didnt have any problems with adhesive left on the truck. A couple small bits stuck ,but came right off using the mask and dabbing them off. I let my base coat sit for a couple days to get nice and dry, like the instructions said with the paint mask. I would use the mask again for different designs for different trucks. Very easy to use for great results. Thanks for the compliments. Hope the rest of the rig comes together as well.
gatorincebu Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Holy Cow, that is one hot paint job. Love it. X's 2 really nice job on the paint and flames. Be Well Gator
jimstixxx Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 They sell them on ebay from time to time. Have to look to see what the company was called. Look up lazy modeler that was on the package of the flame masking
Jonj238 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 That looks great. What kind of clear are you using?
jimstixxx Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 I use lacquer paints and enamels and us testor model master high gloss clear over them all. Never had a problem with it affecting the lacquer,it is enamel clearcoat. It is the one that gives me the constant shine I want.
kilrathy10 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Great looking start....This is one of my favorite rigs to build.....Looks great....
