250 Testa Rossa Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks for the comment gentlemen. I'll show it to HRM and see if he is interested in casting it.And also the '63 Sebring Cobra as well
afx Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) Maxx is referring to this build where I have enlarged and flared the rear wheel opening to replicate the '63 Sebring Cobra.. Edited August 21, 2015 by afx
Casey429 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Hot Rod Magazine did a very nice write up on the Reimer Brother's Dragonsnake in the May 2015 issue, an good read if you haven't seen it. This car was the only privateer Dragonsnake factory equipped with Weber carbs, a pretty neat setup. It was also the only Phase III built, and the only yellow Cobra ever to leave Shelby per the article. http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/1505-forgotten-shelbys-cobra-drag-car/I'm looking forward to seeing this one come to life.

I have read this article. Thanks for posting it. I really like the color of this car but that convertible up top would be challenging to recreate. From my research:Phase I: single 4-barrel carb, 270 HPPhase II: dual 4-barrel carbs, 300 HPPhase III: Weber carbs, 325 HP
afx Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 Continuing to refine the hardtop. I stood the windshield up a bit more and added some locating aids.
Greg Myers Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 So, basically you're just trimming the Corvette top ? aside from the locator pins and front header bar ?

afx Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) So, basically you're just trimming the Corvette top ? aside from the locator pins and front header bar ? That's it. I sectioned it down the middle and removed 3 mm (3 scale inches) then just sanded and shaped it. Edited August 22, 2015 by afx
afx Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) This may help...Some great pictures there Dave, thanks for posting them. I would love to see that black '62/'63 Falcon hiding under the tarp Edited August 23, 2015 by afx
afx Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Quick mockup. Not the correct wheels but I think the stance looks good. Edited August 23, 2015 by afx
250 Testa Rossa Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Patto's Place has the correct Dragonsnake decals if anybody's interested.
afx Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) I wasn't satisfied with the back edge so I extended it to better represent the top on El Cid. Edited August 24, 2015 by afx
afx Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Thanks Gene. Maxx do you know if they have the El Cid decals?

afx Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Not sure if they do. This is the only sheet I could find - No El Cid
geemoney Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 that top is awesome!I swear no two cobras were alike anyway.

afx Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 that top is awesome!I swear no two cobras were alike anyway. Thanks Mike. Yea Cobra where in a constant state of development with improvements being incorporated along the way. In addition they where hand built so some variation is inevitable.

HRM offer some nice one-piece wire wheels that I used on my build of CSX2026. I'll use them again this build.
