Historic Racing miniatures makes one, with engine, about $185. This car just doesn't have enough appeal to the average modeller for most companies to tool one up.You guys could buy a case each and that makes 10 cases. A decent run might be 25000 kits. I know, you are all thinking 'Model King runs 5000 kits'. True, but he uses existing molds, not new ones. Maybe if you all write to Revell or Tamiya or whomever, you might get somewhere :)

Link to information on the HRM kit here.

Are all 6 fullscale cars identical? Or are there small variations from car to car?

Each car is unique and the differences aren't even subtle in some cases.

Also, being raced, each car went through the usual metamorphose of changes/improvements/repairs/bodging up/adapting to rules from one event to another.
They were far from mint in the end, some were downright battered. Your best option is to select a specific chassis # and specific event and try to replicate that.

Here is a photo from the 1964 Le Mans:

Even in this blurry shot you can notice all kinds of differences between the two cars. They also have the FIA wheelarches, which other examples lacked.

Yes, I can see that now :)

That was exactly what I was thinking of, if they make a kit out of it, the kit has to be of a specific chassisnumber and also possibly only one event and even then it will probably be battered to death for incorrect details.

I guess the most interesting example would be Chassis # CSX2287 (the original). It is the only one that was entirely built at the Shelby workshops in Venice.
It has an extensive race pedigree having run at Daytona, Sebring, Reims, Spa Francorchamps, Oulton Park TT, Le Mans and the Tour de France.
It was driven by Chris Amon, Dave MacDonald, Bob Holbert, Jo Schlesser, Phil Hill, Jochen Neerpasch, Innes Ireland, André Simon, Maurice Dupeyron, Bob Johnson and Tom Payne.

Then it was taken to Bonneville and set 25 USAC/FIA world records in November 1965, driven by Craig Breedlove, Bobby Tatroe and Tom Greatorex.

Then it was sold to music producer Phil Spector, who occasionally used it on L.A. roads. By the mid-70s the car had disappeared and was presumed lost.
After 30 odd years, it was re-discovered in a storage unit in California, after its then current owner had committed suicide.

It is the only unrestored example of the lot. Is that the one to model, or what?

Here is picture of that car in the "as found" condition.  And here is its story.

There also was a Super Coupe. I have to look for a photo.

Yep, forgot about the 427 powered Coupe.  Never turned a wheel in anger but a significant car none the less.

Mini Exotics did a trans kit for this using the Monogram chassis. I missed the boat and never ordered one.:(

Had any idea that it was going to go for, and that another forum member I told about it has shot a hole in his funds with another purchase I might have tried for it if for no other reason than fodder for trading!

I bought an HRM from Brad, one of the first. Immediately sold the Gunze's I had (but 1), and the KB/Lindberg. It's that good. As is everything Brad does, and Norm too.

The Lindberg was a nice try, but their 1/25 906 in the same series is great. Bashed mine with a few Fujimi 911 bits and GT40 rubber, and it's great.

I'll look for a link, but all cars vary some. Similar to Grand Sport Vettes.

Nice pile Ray. You of all people need an HRM.

Geez, forgot I had a ME Super Coupe.

Willment and AC. AC is gorgeous. The Fiat 8V body on it was cool too. Would like just a plain old AC428 coup/roadster conversion for the Mono 427 too.

Although no direct relation, I also think a good kit of the Ford of England P68 would be nice.  Don't get much more Swoopy than this. :D

I have been hoping for a good styrene kit of the Cobra Daytona for a long time and are a bit surprised that no one has done it yet.

Fujimi isn't "mainstream"?

hate to break it, but they probably sell more kits than all the USA "manufacturers" (there are none, nothing is made in the USA except toothpicks and wood pellets evidently) put together. and to a much higher standard of detail for what is there.
